Abstract

Social inequality has been a persistent issue in Russia across the 19th and 21st centuries, manifesting in different forms depending on historical, cultural, and political contexts. This study examines the representation of social inequality in Klim Shipenko’s 2019 film Холоп (Son of a Rich), focusing on how visual and linguistic elements encode and communicate this theme. Employing Stuart Hall’s qualitative representation analysis, the research explores the encoding and decoding of signs that highlight social disparity. The findings classify representations of inequality into three key dimensions: social class, social status, and power dynamics, drawing upon Max Weber’s theoretical framework. The study reveals how the film portrays systemic social hierarchies, emphasizing disparities between nobility and serfs in the 19th century and between urban elites and the rural lower class in the 21st century. Additionally, it examines how power structures perpetuate oppression through autocratic rule in the past and oligarchic influence in the present. By critically analyzing the film’s depiction of social conflicts, discrimination, and authority imbalances, this study underscores its role in delivering social commentary. The film functions as a medium of critique, shaping viewers’ perceptions of Russia’s socio-political realities. Ultimately, this research contributes to broader discussions on social inequality and media’s role in reflecting and challenging entrenched power structures.

Abstract

This article examines Ahmad Tafsir's views on the national education paradigm aimed at enlightening the nation's life and building Indonesia fully integrated with religious values. The type of research used is library research, and the data sources in this study are taken from relevant books and journals. From the review of books and journals, an explanation according to Ahmad Tafsir can be obtained that education in Indonesia must be based on the paradigm of faith, where faith-based education shapes character and enhances the nation's morals, as well as emphasizes the importance of integrating moral and scientific values into the education system. Faith becomes the core of the curriculum based on God the Almighty, which is the national education goal to shape students' character and noble morals in the educational process. According to Ahmad Tafsir, the education curriculum has three main pillars: moral, knowledge, and artistic skills. By prioritizing morality as the core of education, this paradigm also drives change and meets the needs of society in the face of global challenges, ensuring adherence to religious values and rooting all activities in faith. Thus, faith is the core of Pancasila, faith is the core of the 1945 Constitution, and faith is the core of national education.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of Fiqh al-Mu’āmalāt into the Madrasah Aliyah curriculum through the lens of Islamic economic theory, entrepreneurship education, and Islamic financial literacy. The research aims to assess the effectiveness of the existing curriculum and identify areas for improvement. Data collection methods include questionnaires, interviews, and documentation, analyzed using data reconciliation, presentation, and construction approaches. The primary data source consists of 112 Madrasah Aliyah students from Bali and Jakarta. The findings reveal a discrepancy between students' awareness of the importance of Fiqh al-Mu’āmalāt (78.6% considered it useful) and its practical implementation in the curriculum, particularly in grades XI–XII. Analysis of the Grade X Fiqh textbooks indicates that while the content is comprehensive, it lacks applicability to real-world contexts. These findings suggest the need for curriculum restructuring to ensure the sustainable integration of Fiqh al-Mu’āmalāt. This study contributes to a comprehensive understanding of Fiqh al-Mu’āmalāt instruction by highlighting the relationship between theoretical knowledge and students' economic preparedness. However, its limitations include a restricted geographic scope and a focus on students' perceptions. Future research should incorporate cross-country longitudinal and comparative studies, as well as experimental research on effective Fiqh al-Mu’āmalāt teaching methodologies to enhance students’ practical financial and entrepreneurial competencies

Abstract

The environmental crisis has been a problem for a long time, in fact environmental degradation is getting worse from year to year. One solution to minimize environmental damage is green waqf. The aim of this research is to describe and analyze the implementation of green waqf in Indonesia, as well as analyze the reasons why green waqf can be a solution to environmental damage. This research falls into the category of library research or "library research". The approach taken is qualitative. Data sources are secondary sources, namely collecting, understanding and analyzing previous articles, news and books on relevant topics. The research results show that in Indonesia, the green waqf movement has not been implemented very much. There are at least four activities that can be called green waqf, namely tamanu tree waqf, clean water source waqf, forest waqf, and mangrove tree waqf. Tamanu trees are beneficial for unproductive land, clean water can benefit the community and provide long-term access to life, waqf forests play a role in maintaining microclimate stability, preserving biodiversity, conserving air, and preventing natural disasters, while mangrove trees provide benefits for the environment coastline. The implication of this research is to create public awareness to maximize the potential of waqf, especially environmentally friendly waqf.

The findings indicate that “Ruwatan Murwakala” embodies educational, religious, and philosophical values while also serving to strengthen communal morals and character. Beyond its role as entertainment, the performance functions as a medium for cultural transformation, bridging traditional values with contemporary societal needs. The symbolic elements within the performance convey notions of purity, prosperity, philosophical depth, and spiritual wisdom, reflecting local cultural values. Furthermore, the ritual aspects of “Ruwatan Murwakala” reinforce communal solidarity and the transmission of cultural heritage across generations. In conclusion, this performance not only upholds Sundanese cultural identity but also serves as a universal reflection on human relationships with cosmic forces, demonstrating the ongoing relevance of traditional rituals in modern society.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze existentialism and pragmatism as two schools of philosophy that have been influential in providing views on the meaning and benefits of life for humans. Existentialism and pragmatism are taken as the focus because they offer different approaches to understanding life—existentialism emphasizes individual freedom in creating the meaning of life, while pragmatism places more emphasis on the practical usefulness of ideas and actions. The research method used is content analysis, which involves studying the works of major philosophers from both schools, such as Jean-Paul Sartre, Martin Heidegger, William James, and John Dewey. Data were obtained from various classical philosophical texts as well as articles and books that discuss the practical application of both philosophies in everyday life. The results of the study show that existentialism provides a deep understanding of freedom, responsibility, and the meaning of life that comes from within the individual, while pragmatism offers a view that is more oriented towards the real benefits of actions and ideas, by assessing values based on the practical results produced. This study concludes that although these two schools have different approaches, they complement each other in helping modern individuals find a balance between the search for deep meaning and the need for beneficial outcomes, thus providing a more holistic and relevant perspective in living human life in today's complex era.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the development of research related to parental satisfaction with faith-based schools and to build a predictive model for future interest trends using bibliometric and supervised learning approaches. The bibliometric analysis was conducted using the VOSviewer software on 402 articles indexed in Scopus, focusing on co-authorship, keyword co-occurrence, and publication trends from 2010 to 2023. In parallel, a survey was conducted among parents (n=120) to assess key predictors of satisfaction using a supervised classification model. The bibliometric findings indicate that research on faith-based education has grown steadily, with clusters of themes emphasizing parental engagement, religious values, and school choice. The predictive model shows that parental satisfaction is significantly influenced by perceived moral development, academic quality, and alignment with family beliefs. The supervised algorithm achieved an accuracy of 86%, confirming the reliability of the predictive variables. This dual approach offers novel insights into the intellectual landscape of faith-based schooling and practical tools for anticipating parental preferences. The findings have implications for educational institutions and policymakers in designing responsive strategies to maintain trust and competitiveness in faith-based education.

Abstract

The separatist movement of the Free Papua Organization (OPM) is a multidimensional threat to Indonesia's sovereignty, covering military, political, economic and social aspects. This research analyzes the threat posed by the OPM using Barry Buzan's security theory and Henry Prunckun's threat analysis concept, specifically related to Threat Intent and Threat Capability. The research method used is a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis of the strategies implemented by OPM and their impact on national stability. The results showed that the OPM adopted a strategy of armed resistance, propaganda and international diplomacy to gain global recognition. The threat posed not only creates national security instability but also disrupts Indonesia's domestic political policies and diplomatic relations with other countries. In addition, social and economic conditions in Papua are increasingly complex due to the prolonged escalation of the conflict. Addressing this threat requires an integrated security approach that combines military policy, diplomacy and more inclusive socio-economic development. The Indonesian government needs to strengthen international diplomacy to reduce foreign support for separatist movements, while reforming the special autonomy policy to be more effective in improving the welfare of the Papuan people. With a comprehensive and sustainable strategy, Indonesia's stability and sovereignty in Papua can be maintained, while creating conditions that are more conducive to development and peace in the region.
