Abstract

Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) are one of the main vegetable commodities that have many benefits. Shallot supply has not kept up with the rising demand; low production is a result of an underutilized agricultural system. Light and overuse of inorganic fertilizers are two examples of external or environmental elements that have an impact on the agriculture system. This study's experimental design, which is a Randomized Group Design (RGD) factorial pattern with three replications in a 3X3 matrix, was the research methodology. The findings demonstrated that all parameters of shallot plant development and production examined did not exhibit any relationship between the severity of shade and the interval of coconut water LOF application. This suggests that shallot plant development and production are not considerably impacted by the shade intensity and coconut water LOF interval combination. The height of shallot plants at 15, 30, and 45 DAP is not significantly affected by the coconut water LOF irrigation interval. The coconut water LOF watering intervals of once per day (I1) and once every three days (I2) were determined to be the most effective treatments. Regarding every aspect of shallot plant development and production, there is no correlation between the interval of coconut water POC and the amount of shadowing. Key-words: shallot, allium ascalonicum, vegetable.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the nutrient uptake of N, P and K from purple eggplant plants in alluvial soil. This research will take place from July – September 2023, carried out at the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Tanjungpura University, Pontianak City, West Kalimantan. This research used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 6 treatments, namely: P0 = 0 (control); P1 = 100% rice straw; P2 = 100 rice husk biochar; and P3 = 75% rice straw compost + 25% rice husk biochar; P4 = 25% rice straw compost + 75% rice husk biochar; P5 = 50% rice straw compost + 50% rice husk biochar. Each treatment was repeated 4 times so there were 24 polybags. The variables observed in this study were the dry weight of the top of the plant, the uptake of N, P and K, the number of fruit per plant, the weight of the fruit per plant and the weight of the fruit per plant. The results of this study showed that the combination of rice straw compost and rice husk biochar had no significant effect on N, P and K uptake.

Abstract

Duren Village, Tengaran District, Semarang Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia, is one of the central villages for rice farming development. Agricultural extension and farmer group leadership also play a role in optimizing the function of farmer groups in Duren Village. This research aims to determine farmers' perceptions of the role of agricultural instructors in Duren Village, including their roles as motivators, educators, dynamists, facilitators, and innovators. The type of research is quantitative descriptive with a total of 84 rice farmers as respondents determined using proportional random sampling. The research results show that the role of agricultural instructors in Duren Village, Tengaran District, Semarang Regency as motivators, educators, dynamists, facilitators, and innovators is in the high category. This shows that the role of extension workers is crucial in increasing community knowledge, skills, and awareness. Extension workers contribute significantly to encouraging positive change, empowering groups, and facilitating the implementation of innovations and technologies that support sustainable agriculture.

Abstract

Coconut plant is a commodity that has high economic value if managed properly, because it provides life to farmers. This study aims to determine the role of agricultural extension workers in increasing the income of Coconut farmers in Nuhon District. This research was conducted from August to November 2023, using quantitative descriptive analysis, namely the Likert analysis approach and income analysis. The results obtained are the role of extension agents on coconut farming income in Nuhon District, Banggai Regency as a mentor who conducts education has a high category (65.3%), then as a monitor and evaluator obtained in the medium category (50.6%), facilitating farmers obtained in the medium category (56%), and providing direction to farmers obtained in the medium category (56.6%), Thus the role of extension agents is still not optimal because agricultural extension agents are less active in playing a role for coconut farmers and for the results of the analysis of the income of coconut farmers obtained profitable results and feasible to develop in Nuhon District, Banggai Regency.

Abstract

Sweet corn is a vegetable commodity that is very popular in America, Canada and Asia, including Indonesia, where sweet corn has become known since the 1980s. The volume of sweet corn imports in Indonesia in 2021 increased by 15%, with total imports reaching 995.99 thousand tons. Market demand for sweet corn continues to increase, reaching 11.1 million tons for food industry raw materials, 5.93 million tons for food industry raw materials, 405 thousand tons for household consumption, and around 1.5 million tons for other needs. However, this has not been able to meet the large demand required. Low corn productivity can be caused by several factors, such as not yet implementing recommended cultivation technologies such as setting plant spacing and urea fertilizer doses. This research used a factorial  Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) method with two factors, namely planting distance (J) with 3 levels, namely J0: 70 cm x 10 cm with a total of 72 plants per plot, J1: 70 cm x 25 cm (control) with 28 plants per plot, J2: 70 cm x 40cm with 16 plants per plot. The second factor is the dose of urea fertilizer (D) with 3 levels, namely: D0: 200 kg/ha with a fertilizer dose of 126 g/plot, D1: 350 kg/ha (control) with a fertilizer dose of 220 g/plot, and D2: 500 kg/ha with a fertilizer dose of 315 g/plot. The results showed that increasing plant spacing and higher urea fertilization had an effect on increasing the growth and yield of sweet corn plants.

Abstract

permaculture has the principle of balance and sustainability. The growth of microbes or spores can be detrimental to plants even if the ecosystem and environment are healthy and good, such as a permaculture area. The spread of plant diseases is often caused by spores spread through the air. The aim of this research is to determine the distribution of spores in the air in the Kor Hill permaculture area. Observations of spore samples were carried out in September 2023 at the Kor Hill Agricultural Complex laboratory, Marang, Terengganu, Malaysia at a height of 35 meters above sea level. This research used the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method. The research results showed that the spore colony samples observed were groups of fungi known as sterile hyphae or sterile mycelia. Sterile hyphae or sterile mycelia are a type of fungus that does not produce reproductive structures, either through sexual or asexual reproduction.

Abstract

This research aims to obtain the correct dose of Tithonia diversifolia compost and cow manure for the growth and yield of leeks (Allium fistulosum L). This research was carried out in the Green House of the Agroindustry Department, Sijunjung campus, Padang State University, Sijunjung Regency at an altitude of + 450 meters above sea level. The design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments and 3 replications so there were 18 experimental samples. The treatments in this experiment were P0: control, P1: 55 grams of compost, P2: 65 g of compost, P3: 75 g of compost, P4: 85 g of compost, P5: 95 g of compost. The research data were analyzed using 5% anova and continued with the DMRT test. The parameters observed were plant height, number of tillers, number of tillers, number of leaves per cluster, leaf length, leaf width, cluster diameter, total plant weight. The results of the research showed that the application of Titonia diversifolia compost and cow manure had an effect on the growth of leek plants with the highest average plant height being 45 cm, namely in the 85 g treatment, the highest number of tillers was 4.33, namely in the 85 g treatment.  Keywords: Tithonia diversifolia, cow manure, spring onions INTISARIPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan dosis kompos Tithonia diversifolia dan pupuk kandang sapi yang tepat untuk pertumbuhan dan hasil bawang daun (Allium fistulosum L). Penelitian ini dilaksanakn di Green House Departemen Agroindustri kampus Sijunjung, Universitas Negeri Padang, Kabupaten Sijunjung dengan ketinggian + 450 mdpl. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dengan 6 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan sehingga ada 18 sampel percobaan. Perlakuan dalam percoban ini adalah P0: kontrol, P1: 55 gram kompos, P2: 65 g kompos, P3: 75 g kompos, P4: 85 g kompos, P5: 95 g kompos. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis menggunakan anova 5% dan dilanjutkan uji DMRT. Parameter yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, jumlah anakan, jumlah daun per-anakan, jumlah daun per- rumpun, panjang daun, lebar daun, diameter rumpun, bobot total tanaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian kompos Titonia diversifolia dan pupuk kandang sapi berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman bawang daun dengan rata-rata tinggi tanaman yang tertinggi adalah 45 cm, yaitu pada perlakuan 85 g, jumlah anakan terbanyak 4,33, yaitu pada perlakuan 85 g. Kata kunci: bawang daun, pupuk kandang sapi, Tithonia diversifolia

Abstract

Most widely consumed agriculture products worldwide are vegetable and fruit-based products rich in bioactive compounds such as vitamins, polyphenols, and other antioxidants. These molecules are susceptible to oxidation and degradation during food processing, especially when exposed to heat. This review discusses the effects of encapsulation using spray drying on bioactive compounds and how encapsulation technology can be utilized to protect and optimize the functional properties of bioactive. Encapsulation can also aid the creation of desirable sensory attributes (e.g., aroma, texture, colour, and taste), thus playing an essential role in developing novel foods and beverages. Encapsulation has successfully preserved encapsulated bioactive compounds from external conditions while aiding the controlled release of transported active compounds. Among the various variations and applications of encapsulation, microencapsulation and nanoencapsulation of food bioactive is the main focus of this review, which discusses the principles related to technological developments as well as current applications so that the protective effects and bioavailability of bioactive components in food systems can be fulfilled. This manuscript review was conducted using the narrative literature review method. Keywords: antioxidant, bioactive compound, encapsulation, spray drying INTISARIProduk agrikultur yang paling banyak dikonsumsi di seluruh dunia adalah produk berbasis sayuran dan buah-buahan yang kaya akan senyawa bioaktif seperti vitamin, polifenol, dan antioksidan. Molekul-molekul ini sangat rentan terhadap oksidasi dan degradasi selama pemrosesan makanan, terutama akibat paparan suhu. Ulasan ini membahas efek enkapsulasi dengan pengeringan semprot pada senyawa bioaktif dan bagaimana teknologi enkapsulasi digunakan untuk melindungi dan mengoptimalkan sifat fungsional bioaktif makanan. Enkapsulasi juga dapat membantu menghasilkan atribut sensorik yang diinginkan (misalnya, aroma, tekstur, warna, dan rasa), sehingga memainkan peran penting dalam pengembangan produk baru. Enkapsulasi telah terbukti berhasil sebagai proses yang efektif untuk melindungi senyawa bioaktif yang dienkapsulasi dari kondisi eksternal, sekaligus membantu pelepasan terkontrol dari senyawa aktif yang diangkut. Di antara berbagai variasi dan aplikasi enkapsulasi, mikroenkapsuliasi dan nanoenkapsulasi bioaktif dari makanan adalah fokus utama dari ulasan ini yang membahas prinsip-prinsip terkait perkembangan teknologi serta aplikasi saat ini sehingga  efek perlindungan dan  bioavailabilitas dari komponen bioaktif dalam sistem pangan dapat terpenuhi. Abstract

Colletotrichum acutatum is a pathogenic fungus in chili plants that causes anthracnose. The control of this disease usually involves the use of synthetic fungicides, but their long-term use may have negative impacts. One alternative to inhibit the growth of Colletotrichum acutatum is the use of natural fungicides, such as local microorganisms (LMOs) from cacao fruit skin. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of local microorganisms from cacao fruit skin in inhibiting the growth of Colletotrichum acutatum and to identify the best concentration of these local microorganisms in controlling Colletotrichum acutatum, the causative agent of anthracnose in red chili plants (Capsicum annuum L.). This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 6 treatments, namely A (0 ml/l water), B (5 ml/l water), C (10 ml/l water), D (15 ml/l water), E (20 ml/l water), and F (25 ml/l water). Each treatment was repeated 4 times. The data were analyzed with variance analysis followed by an Honest Significant Difference (HSD) test at a level of 5% (α = 5%). The results of the study showed that local microorganisms from cacao fruit skin had a significant effect on the fungal colony diameter, germination percentage, plant height, disease occurrence, and disease severity. The best concentration of LMOs from cacao fruit skin was found in treatment F (25 ml/l water).

Abstract

This experiment was aim to investigate some factor influenced by demand for pakcoy hydroponic on glugur rantauprapat labuhanbatu. This research is research using quantitative and descriptive methods. The sampling method used was the accidental sampling method, namely determining the sample based on the coincidence of meeting 30 people with the researcher. The results of the research show that price and population have a positive and significant effect on demand for hydroponic pak choy vegetables in the Gelugur market in Rantauprapat City. It can be seen from the value of the coefficient of determination that demand can be explained by price and population by 76.2%. Meanwhile, the remaining 23.8% was influenced by other variables not examined in this research. Keywords: price, population, demand, hydrophonic, pakcoy
