Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of communication, work environment, motivation, and work ethic on employee performance at the Pratama Bening's Clinic in Manado. This study used a quantitative method with a causal associative approach. Data collection was conducted by distributing questionnaires to the entire population of 29 employees, so the sampling technique used a saturated sampling method (census). The results of the validity and reliability tests showed that all instrument items met the measurement criteria, and the classical assumption tests (normality, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity) were met so that the model was feasible to be analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that communication, work environment, motivation, and work ethic simultaneously had a significant effect on employee performance. Partially, communication and work environment were proven to have a positive and significant effect on performance, while motivation and work ethic had a positive but insignificant effect. These findings indicate that increasing communication effectiveness and improving physical conditions are the dominant factors driving performance. Managerial implications suggest the need to strengthen two-way communication, provide adequate work facilities, and re-evaluate the incentive system and work discipline so that motivation and work ethic can contribute more optimally to performance achievement.

Abstract

Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to examine the influence of Moonlighting Intention and Personal Reasons on Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment, with a particular focus on the mediating role of Organizational Commitment. The study was conducted among employees working in private companies located in Jakarta, Indonesia. A total of 184 respondents participated, representing diverse educational backgrounds, working experiences, and demographic characteristics. The research applied a quantitative approach with data collected through a structured online questionnaire distributed via Google Forms, utilizing a cross-sectional survey design. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and hypothesis testing. The results indicate that Moonlighting Intention has a positive and significant impact on both Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment. However, Personal Reasons do not significantly influence Organizational Commitment or Job Satisfaction. Furthermore, Organizational Commitment shows a positive and significant effect on Job Satisfaction, but it does not function as a mediating variable between Moonlighting Intention or Personal Reasons and Job Satisfaction. These findings suggest that employees' intention to engage in additional jobs outside their primary employment does not necessarily reduce their organizational commitment or satisfaction levels. Conversely, personal motivations alone are insufficient to enhance employees’ commitment or satisfaction without organizational support. The study highlights the importance of strengthening organizational policies that foster employee engagement, loyalty, and satisfaction, particularly in the context of balancing external work activities and organizational responsibilities. The results contribute to the growing body of research on employee behavior in the private sector, providing valuable insights for organizational management to develop more effective human resource strategies.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has transformed traditional marketing paradigms into more interactive and measurable digital-based strategies. This study aims to analyze the effect of digital marketing on purchase intention with brand image as a mediating variable in the jewelry sales of Sari Dewi Gold & Silver in Gianyar, Bali. A quantitative approach was employed using primary data collected through questionnaires distributed to 141 respondents who had purchased or were potential buyers of the jewelry products. Data analysis was conducted using the Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method. The results indicate that digital marketing has a positive and significant effect on both brand image and purchase intention, while brand image also has a positive and significant effect on purchase intention and mediates the relationship between digital marketing and purchase intention. These findings emphasize that effective digital marketing strategies not only directly enhance consumers’ purchase intentions but also strengthen brand image as a key factor in building consumer trust, providing both theoretical and practical implications for jewelry businesses to optimize digital marketing strategies in improving competitiveness.

Abstract

In this study, the authors compare stock portfolios created using the Dow Jones and Markowitz methodologies, which rely on stock recommendations from Benjamin Graham. The aim is to examine whether portfolios following these methods can outperform Indonesia's main stock market indices, the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) and IDX30, over the period 2018 to 2023. The stock selection process uses Graham's rule by targeting companies whose earnings-to-price ratio is twice the yield on AAA-rated bonds (in this study using the Bank Indonesia (BI) rate averaged over 5 years from 2018 to 2023) and whose debt is less than its book value. The Dow Jones portfolio consists of 30 equally weighted stocks selected from eligible issuers, and the Markowitz portfolio is constructed following the mean-variance approach and Lagrangian function to obtain 14 stocks. This study examines both portfolios using weekly returns, standard deviations, and Sharpe ratios and examines whether they outperform the Jakarta Composite Index and IDX30. It can be seen that both portfolios outperform the index in terms of risk-adjusted returns, which are 0.32% per week for the Dow Jones portfolio and 0.42% per week for the Markowitz portfolio compared to the IHSG of 0.07% per week and the IDX30 of -0.01% per week.

Abstract

The internet has revolutionized how people shop and interact with businesses. This transformation has created significant opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), including family businesses, to enhance their business performance. Some strategic actions that business owners can take include adopting e-commerce to keep up with technological developments and fostering innovation to stay relevant in a rapidly changing environment. Moreover, innovation has been proven to improve business performance through developing goods and offerings that more effectively address consumer demands, increasing process efficiency, and opening new opportunities for business model development. The urgency of this research lies in the fact that family businesses—one of the most dominant business forms in Indonesia—face major challenges in adapting to these changes. The goal of this investigation is to address this shortfall by analyzing the impact of adopting e-commerce and innovation on improving business performance, as well as assessing the role of trust as a mediating variable. The study employs the Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) method based on Partial Least Squares (PLS) to analyze responses from 62 participants who met the research criteria. The research indicates a beneficial link between e-commerce, innovation, and overall business success. Additionally, the study identifies a positive influence of e-commerce on trust. On the other hand, the outcomes suggest no notable positive link between trust and business performance, and trust doesn't mediate the connection between e-commerce and business performance.
