Abstract

The aim of this research was to observe the influence of palm kernel meal and íŸ-Mannanase on laying hens. Laying hens up to 2500 birds were reared in opened-house cage fed with commercial feed substituted with palm kernel meal and íŸ-Mannanase. All hens were divided into five groups in an order P0 as control group, groups without enzyme which are P1 with 7% palm kernel meal and P2 with 14% palm kernel meal, groups with íŸ-Mannanase which are P3 7% palm kernel meal and P4 with 14% palm kernel meal. The observed variables are feed intake, feed cost, egg weight, egg mass, feed conversion ratio, hen day production, and mortality rate. The results indicated that threr are no significant difference from all variables. The percentage of palm kernel meal for 14% with íŸ-Mannanase cannot give any influence on laying hens productivity.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to know about genetic profile of Folicle Stimulating Hormone Receptor (rFSH) in Madrasin crossbreed between Madura breed and Limousin breed (Madrasin). The research are using whole blood samples from Madura breed, Limousin breed, and Madrasin crossbreed. Madura breed and Madrasin crossbreed sample were taken from Galis, Pamekasan, East Java and Limousin breed is taken from Balai Embrio Ternak (BET) Cipelang, Bogor, West Java. Samples were used for genetic profile analysis such as DNA amplification with Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) method and DNA sequencing in Institute of Tropical Disease, Universitas Airlangga. The result showed that DNA fragment of rFSH is 211bp. In conclusion, this study can detect rFSH gene Madrasin crossbreed which is polymorpism.

Abstract

White-lipped Green Pitviper (Trimeresurus insularis) is one type of snake whose population in nature is still not extinct and has a wide spread starting from the island of Java, Bali, Komodo, Lombok, Padar, Rinca, Romang, Roti, Sumba, Sumbawa, Timor. Population decline can occur if the incidence of disease infections continues to increase, one of the most common infectious diseases is helminthiasis. This study aimed to identify and determine the level of Acathochepala infection in White-lipped Green Pitviper in Banyuwangi Regency. A total of 20 green snakes were examined for Acanthochepala infection. Identification was done when the worm had been stained using carmine. The results showed that 20 positive green snake samples were infected with Acanthochepala in the subcutan, muscle tissue, digestive tract and reproductive tract.

Abstract

Newcatle disease (ND) is a disease in poultry that can cause considerable losses for farmers. Common symptoms seen at the beginning of infection are decreased appetite for chickens, lethargy, conjunctivitis, and decreased egg production. There is no effective treatment for ND disease. One of the efforts to prevent ND is to do vaccination and good biosecurity. This study aimed to determine ND antibody titer in layer chicken in Narmada district, West Lombok. The serum sample used was 87 divided according to the length of post vaccination 4 weeks, 8 weeks and 12 weeks post vaccination. The method used to determine the antibody profile was the Haemaglutination inhibition test. A total of 87 serum chickens were sampled, and the antibody titer was still protective 26-211. Measuring antibody titer can help farmer to make health programs even better, so that livestock more resistant to virus infection.

Abstract

The aim of the study was to detect the fertility level of females Bawean deer (Axis kuhlii) through fecal steroid metabolic which were tested using Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA). The study used five females Bawean deer in Taman Flora Surabaya, which were marked using R1, R2, R3, R4, and R5 necklaces. The feces of each deer was collected on the 1st day, 6th day, 11th day, 16th day, and 21st day. The samples which were collected then extracted using the freeze dry method. Samples were tested using ELISA. The results of the measurement of the levels of fecal steroid metabolic  in five Bawean deers showed that three Bawean deer (R1, R4, and R5) were in the luteal or pregnant phase as indicated by the increased of progesterone from 1st day to 21st day. While the other two Bawean deer (R2 and R3) were in the follicular or estrous phase as indicated by the decreased of level of faecal steroid metabolic  on 11th day for deer R2 and 16th day for deer R3. The results showed that the levels of the fecal steroid metabolic can be used to determine the follicular phase and luteal phase and the pregnancy status of female Bawean deer.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the quality of broiler carcasses in the Banyuwangi traditional market with carcass quality examination based on SNI number 3924-2009 and tetracycline antibiotic residues test based on SNI number 7424:2008. A total of ten broiler chicken sellers as representative of almost all broiler chicken sellers in the Banyuwangi market, with each seller was taken for one carcass in this research. Carcass quality examination used a standart carcasses weight 1,0-1,3 kg. Carcass quality examination was carried out with descriptive analysis with reference to the physical characteristics of SNI (Standarisasi Nasional Indonesia). The bioassay method is used to test for tetracycline antibiotic residue. The result of the carcass quality examination showed that from the whole sample consisting of conformation, disjointed or broken bones and missing parts, discolorations, and cleanliness of broiler carcasses are good enough. The percentage quality of broiler carcasses quality I is 60%, quality II is 30% and quality III is 10%. The examination of antibiotic tetracycline residues in broiler meat showed negative results indicating that no feeds containing additional antibiotics made carcasses in the traditional Banyuwangi market safe for consumption.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the profile of the Luteinizing Hormone Receptor (rLH) gene in Madrasin cross breed cattle. The sample of this study used blood samples from 3 breeds of cattle. There were Madrasin from Bangkalan City, Madura from Bangkalan City and Limousin from BET Cipelang Bogor. The sample criteria were used female cattle around 2,5 years old and ever partus (once). The genomic DNA was extracted for polymerase chain reaction (PCR), followed by sequencing with software BioEdit Vers. 8.0 to determine the sequence of nucleotide bases. The results of this study were that three samples detected fragments in the form of DNA with nucleotide base of 373 bp. The conclusion, gene rLH in Madrasin Cattle can detected using PCR.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of giving Bacillus subtilis probiotics in laying hens on improving the quality of internal and external eggs with differences in shelf life. A total of 60 laying hens were divided into 4 treatment groups, namely P0 as a control that was not given probiotic B. Subtilis, P1 feed was added 0.005 grams B. Subtilis, P2 feed with added 0.01 grams B. Subtilis, P3 feed added 0.02 grams B. Subtilis then the eggs produced are stored for 1 day, 5 days and 10 days. The results of this study indicate that the administration of B. Subtilis probiotics with a concentration of 0.02 grams affects the increase in egg weight, egg yolk index value and HU values. The addition of B. Subtilis probiotics to racial feed can improve egg quality.
