Abstract

This study examines the career guidance program's effectiveness in developing the employability skills of Ariyanti Academy of Secretary and Management students. This study uses a positivism paradigm with reductionistic characteristics, oriented to causal relationships, logical, empirical, and deterministic based on a priori theory. The approach given in this study is a quantitative approach using quasi-experimental methods. This study compared the pretest scores and posttest scores of the experimental group and the control group. The main findings reveal that the Savickas theory-based career guidance program effectively develops the work skills of Ariyanti Academy of Secretary and Management students from cognitive, affective, and psychomotor aspects. This study provides suggestions for guidance and counseling practitioners to equip themselves with an understanding of student work skills.

Abstract

Recently, no research was found to differentiate reading motivation but focused on reading interest, so this research aimed to look at differences in students' reading motivation based on school type and gender because these two issues are rarely analyzed. Two hypotheses are proposed, namely (H1) There are differences in reading motivation based on gender (H2) There are differences in reading motivation based on school type. Strata took samples and data using a reading motivation scale, which will then be analyzed using a t-test. The results of this study explain that there are no differences in rural students' reading motivation based on gender, meaning that this study rejects the first alternative hypothesis. However, we accept the second alternative hypothesis because it proves differences in reading motivation based on school type. The impacts and recommendations are explained later in this research.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain an overview of school-based family counseling (SBFC) implementation at the early childhood education level. Using a descriptive exploratory method, data was collected through observation, scheduling, structured interviews, and documentation study techniques. The research was carried out at TK LabSchool UPI Campus in Serang. The research subjects comprised the school principal, teachers, parents of students, and counselors. The data obtained were analyzed qualitatively using an interactive model that included data display, reduction, and generalization. The study's results revealed the following findings: (1) The school-based family counseling conducted at TK LabSchool UPI Campus in Serang is a formal activity in psychotherapy intervention using a family system perspective, implemented in the school using school facilities and infrastructure. Each session is conducted in the form of a dyad (consisting of one parent and one child), a triad (two parents and one child), or a small group (two parents, one child, and one or more relatives outside the nuclear family). Counseling is carried out with attention to individual rights and informed consent, usually conducted in more than one session, and is not a parent conference or parent consultation. (2) The school must meet several requirements before implementing SBFC. (3) The study on the implementation of SBFC at the early childhood education level raises several considerations and challenges for future research.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a broad global impact, including fear of disease and the lockdown situation. This situation has led to a significant increase in interest in various forms of digital entertainment, especially online games. The high number of online game users provides many benefits, but it also creates the problem of gaming interruption. This study aims to comprehensively explain the factors that influence gaming disorder and the impact it causes using a systematic literature review method of 60 research journal articles indexed by Scopus. From the results of this study, it was found that several factors influence gaming disorder, including feelings of loneliness, boredom, feelings of loss of meaning in life, low self-compassion, stress, increased playing time, and psychological comorbidities. Meanwhile, gaming disorder also has a physical impact, which causes a decrease in the quality of life of individuals, such as the emergence of sleep disturbances and insomnia, affecting individual basic needs such as eating and personal hygiene, obsessive characteristic psychological disorders, and even reducing empathy. In addition, changes in the education system where schools are held online give students a lot of free time, resulting in increased aggressive behavior among them. Early detection of factors that influence gaming disorder requires family support and supervision. This has implications for prevention and early intervention for policymakers and game developers.

Abstract

Employability Skills for College Students in University are an asset that can bring students closer to being ready to enter the world of work. Employability Skill can be interpreted as a series of characteristics including knowledge, attitudes, and skills that make a person capable of being trained. To get a general trend or a long work profile students need an instrument to reveal these variables. This study aims to develop employability skill instruments that are psychometrically tested both in terms of validity testing and instrument reliability testing using the RASCH model analysis method. The research instrument has been tested on 728 people. The results showed that from testing the instrument's validity using the RASCH model analysis on Outfit MNSQ, Outfit ZSTD, and Pt Measure Corr, of the 54 items developed, a total of 48 items met psychometric standards. The instrument's reliability on Cronbach's alpha value is in very good criteria, even in terms of reliability a person is in the very good category, and item reliability is in the special category. Therefore, the student employability skills instrument meets psychometric requirements and can be used as an instrument to measure student employability skills.

Abstract

Career adaptability is essential for employees at the beginning of their careers because they are required to develop and maintain their job status quickly. This enables them to plan their development, opportunities, and career transitions in the 21st century, characterized by numerous rapid changes. Career adaptability is the capacity of individuals to respond more quickly to stress. A sense of coherence, determined by how an individual copes with their environmental circumstances, is one of the stress-resilient positive psychological characteristics. This study explores the association between early-career employees' feelings of coherence and career adaptability. This study's sample comprised 163 employees in the early stages of their careers, aged 18 to 35. This study demonstrates a correlation between a sense of coherence and career adaptability among early-career employees.

Abstract

In 2020, when the COVID-19 pandemic occurred, it was recorded that only 38% of high school graduates continued their education in college, while in the following year, 2021, the field of coordination of improving the quality of teaching and religious moderation stated that only 50% of high school graduates continued their college education each year. This study explores the decision-making factors, experiences, and plans that high school graduates who undergo a gap year during the COVID-19 pandemic have—using a phenomenological qualitative method by giving an open-ended questionnaire to 69 high school graduate participants followed by interviews with 4 participants. This study reveals that the family's economic limitations are the most influencing factor, supported by an inner desire to become more independent and ease the burden on parents, not wanting to be idle and waste time, and interpreting the gap year as only delaying for specific reasons. They are gaining various positive experiences such as increasing life and economic independence, gaining work experience, and increasing social interaction skills, soft skills, and hard skills. Negative experiences such as unfair treatment in the world of work, oblique views, feelings of envy, disappointment, upset, upset, sadness, stress, and discouragement have an impact on psychosomatic disorders—plans to continue studying in the following year alongside work and business. Knowing the college major they want to pursue, there is a change of purpose in their intention to attend college. Special attention needs to be given to the school in assisting prospective high school graduates with the obstacles that may be faced in continuing their studies so that they can provide the best direction and solutions for students.

Abstract

This study aimed to adapt the workaholism measure instrument and examine the psychometric results to be tested on employees and workers in Indonesia. This measure has been tested and applies to workers in various occupational fields in the United States. The workaholism measurement instrument was developed by Clark, Smith, and Haynes (2020) and has never been adapted for the population in Indonesia. The process of adapting this measuring instrument refers to the International Test Commission. The participants in this study were 102 workers in Indonesia using the incidental sampling technique. The adapted scale is reliable, with a Cronbach's alpha of .931. In the Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) results, the fit model is acceptable (RMSEA = .70, CFI = .96), which indicates that the data are consistent with the research hypothesis. The results of adapting the workaholism scale into Indonesian have a different number of items from the original measuring instrument, namely 13. Evidence through confirmatory factor analysis shows that the workaholism measurement model can be represented in the Indonesian population from four dimensions: motivational, cognitive, emotional, and behavioral.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the validity and reliability of the self-resilience instrument for orphans in secondary school students in South Tambun District. This instrument was adapted from the resilience theory by Clarke & Nicholson (2010). The self-resilience instrument for orphans consists of 56 items covering resilience aspects, including optimism, freedom from stress and anxiety, individual accountability, openness and flexibility, and problem orientation. The study subjects were orphans, totaling 62 people across five secondary schools in the South Tambun sub-district. The Rasch model test results can be seen from the dimensionality analysis, item measure, item fit order, rating scale diagnostic, and summary. This adaptation instrument is said to be reliable by analyzing the person reliability value of 0.72 and item reliability of 0.95. The results of the data analysis show that several items need improvement and a decrease in the level of difficulty. This research helps enrich references and provide information about self-resilience in orphans.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between self-control and the narcissistic personality of Instagram social media users in the millennial generation. This study used a correlational quantitative method. Participants in this study were all millennials aged 23-42 years, both men and women, who used electronic devices in the form of gadgets, laptops, and computers, had Instagram social media accounts, and were users for more than six months. Sampling in this study used a convenience sampling technique with a total sample of 205 respondents. The measuring instruments used in this study were the Self-Control Scale from Tangney, Baumeister, and Boone (2004) to measure self-control variables and the Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI) Scale from Raskin and Terry (1988) to measure narcissistic personality variables. The results of data analysis using the Pearson product-moment correlation technique were obtained with a correlation number of -0.190 with a significance value of 0.003 (p<005). The results of this study show that self-control has a significant negative relationship with the narcissistic personality of Instagram social media users in the millennial generation, which means that the higher the self-control, the lower the narcissistic tendency. Conversely, the lower the self-control, the higher the narcissistic tendency.
