Abstract

Arabic language learning plays an important role as an international language used by millions of people in various countries. One of the obstacles faced by beginner learners is limited access to interactive learning media, especially in developing listening skills. The gap for beginner learners, experienced by class VIII B MTs Muhammadiyah 03 Ketro, is the limited learning media. Therefore, we employ conventional media for Arabic language learning. We chose Class VIII B because the students' Arabic language comprehension skills remain at a basic level.he digital era, the use of technology is one solution to overcome various learning challenges, including increasing student interest and understanding. The purpose of this study was to introduce and determine students' responses to the Al Jazeera Learning Arabic website as a learning medium. The method used in this study is qualitative with a descriptive approach. This method was chosen because it allows researchers to obtain data that is narrated in the form of words and sentences that are certainly related to the research being conducted. The Aljazeera Learning Arabic website has three features for beginner users, namely introduction, beginners, and basics, which are also equipped with evaluations. Some feedback from students, after studying together using the Al Jazeera Learning Arabic website, shows that the use of the website is very helpful in learning mahārah istima'. In addition, students feel helped by the website's existence as a learning medium for listening skills.

Abstract

Based on Halliday and Hasan's (1976) theory, this study looks at how the four grammatical devices of cohesion are used in Durʫsul Lugah Volume 1: reference, substitution, ellipsis, and conjunction. We used a descriptive qualitative approach to collect data, employing the reading, listening, and note-taking technique. The data analysis involved data reduction, presentation, and conclusion. The results show that conjunction and reference appear in almost every chapter, while substitution and ellipsis only begin to emerge in the later chapters. However, the variety within each type of cohesion remains limited. These findings have implications for teaching Arabic. For example, they can help students better understand the additive and adversative meanings of the word "and," give clear instructions on word forms and types, and better understand pronouns (ḍamīr). We also encourage learners to enhance their linguistic awareness. Overall, the types of grammatical cohesion in Durūsul Lugah Volume 1 are not yet highly diverse. However, the book's text maintains grammatical coherence, making it suitable for beginner-level Arabic learners.

Abstract

Novel is one type of literary work that has the function of being a mirror of the social, cultural, and political life of society. This research aims to describe the textual level, discourse level, and sociocultural level that show various practices of domination and resistance in the novel Qolbu Al-Lail. This research uses a descriptive-analytic qualitative approach. The data source of this research is the novel Qolbu Al-Lail by Naguib Mahfouz. The data obtained is analyzed using Norman fairclough's critical discourse analysis theory. The theoretical foundation used is Pierre Bourdieu's symbolic domination theory. Based on the research, the following two things are known. The critical discourse analysis of this novel reveals the existence of symbolic domination and resistance reflected in 1) the textual level (diction, grammatical structure, language style), 2) the level of discourse practice (criticism of the Egyptian political and social system after the 1952 revolution), and 3) the sociocultural level (Egyptian social conditions in 1952-1975).

Abstract

Listening skills play a crucial role in Arabic language acquisition. However, evaluating these skills remains a challenge due to the limited availability of structured and interactive assessment tools. Traditional assessments often lack engagement and fail to accurately measure students’ listening comprehension. This study employs a research and development (R&D) approach using the 4D model, consisting of define, design, develop, and disseminate phases. The objective is to develop and validate a digital listening skills test using the Kahoot application. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and tests involving 20 female students at MA NIPI RAKHA Amuntai. The test was developed with 15 multiple-choice and true-or-false questions and was validated by three experts specializing in Arabic language teaching and educational assessment. The results indicate that the test achieved a high level of validity, with an overall expert rating of 4.65 on a five-point Likert scale, confirming its effectiveness as an evaluation tool. This study contributes to the development of digital assessment tools for Arabic listening skills by validating Kahoot as an interactive and structured evaluation method. Future research should explore its application in broader educational contexts and different proficiency levels, ensuring that such tools enhance the effectiveness of listening assessment in Arabic language education.

Abstract

This study addresses issues in teaching Nahwu grammar at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Kalipucang Pangandaran, such as low student motivation, limited interaction, inadequate teaching media, and challenges in comprehending complex materials. The research aims to develop, evaluate, and measure the effectiveness of teaching materials for Nahwu grammar in Articulate Storyline interactive multimedia. We employed the research and development (R&D) method with the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation). Data was collected through observations, interviews, questionnaires, and tests. Material and language experts, along with media experts, conducted feasibility tests, and 24 eighth-grade students participated in product trials. We administered pre-tests and post-tests to measure effectiveness. The findings indicate that the study successfully developed Nahwu grammar teaching materials for eighth-grade students using Articulate Storyline. The materials included identity menus, content (jumlah mufidah, ismiyah, fi’liyah), interactive quizzes, and developer menus. Validation results from experts showed feasibility scores of 81.33% and 96%, respectively, rated as "good" and "excellent." Teacher and student feedback was also positive, with scores of 96% and 91.42%, rated as "excellent." We found a significant improvement between the pre-test (65.17%) and post-test (90.47%) scores. The paired sample t-test yielded a significance score of 0.000 (Sig. < 0.05), indicating a significant improvement in students’ learning outcomes. Therefore, the interactive multimedia teaching materials using Articulate Storyline proved effective in teaching Nahwu grammar to eighth-grade students at Madrasah Tsanawiyah Kalipucang, Pangandaran.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the analysis of multiple intelligences in the book 'Arabiyah Baina Yadaik. The research approach is qualitative, specifically library research. The analysis technique used is content analysis. The content analysis used is a qualitative content analysis approach. The data collection process is a literature study analysis of the book by reviewing learning materials and practice questions, analyzing the suitability of the book with aspects of multiple intelligences, then describing the results of the analysis and providing conclusions with suggestions. Based on the results of the research, the distribution of multiple intelligence aspects in the book is still uneven. Analysis of learning activities, materials, and practice questions in the book shows the highest intelligence is linguistic intelligence. The middle intelligence category includes spatial, interpersonal, and logical-mathematical intelligence. The lowest intelligence mentioned is existential intelligence. The book does not mention intrapersonal, kinesthetic, musical, or naturalistic intelligences at all. The four intelligences not mentioned in the book can be raised and developed by a teacher through learning activities in the classroom and outside the classroom with various methods, strategies, and more intriguing learning models.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of the Fathu Kutub at-Turats program on students' interest in self-directed learning, particularly in enhancing Arabic reading and writing skills. Conducted at Darussalam Gontor Islamic Boarding School Third Campus for Girls, the research employs a quantitative survey approach. Data was collected through written documentation and questionnaires, with a total population of 420 fifth-grade students and a sample of 80 students selected using quota sampling. The results indicate a statistically significant relationship between the Fathu Kutub at-Turats program and students' interest in self-directed learning. The correlation coefficient (R) of 0.699 shows a moderate to strong positive relationship, and the coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.489 means that 48.9% of the differences in self-directed learning are due to the program, while the other 51.1% are affected by other factors. These findings reinforce the role of the Fathu Kutub at-Turats program as an effective approach to fostering independent learning and enhancing Arabic literacy skills. The study underscores the program’s contribution to promoting self-directed learning and supports its continued implementation as a strategy for developing linguistic proficiency.

Abstract

This research discusses how language continues to evolve along with the development of an era, with terms and vocabulary that did not exist before becoming present. When the Covid-19 pandemic spread worldwide, language underwent a transformation, leading to the emergence of new vocabulary and terms that were previously unfamiliar but became familiar to the public. Because of the continuous communication among humans. Historical linguistics serves as a comparative tool in the context of the historical development of languages, including their linguistic elements. Historical linguistics serves as an analytical tool to address the historical emergence of a language and investigate its relationship with other languages in terms of kinship, examining whether there are similarities within the language 's linguistic context. This research uses a qualitative type of study with a descriptive approach. The research results indicate that the use of Arabic terms during the Covid-19 pandemic corresponds with the conditions that have occurred over time, starting from the time of the Prophet Muhammad, who used the term Tha'un to describe the plague that struck then, followed by the Spanish flu in the 19th century, which was referred to as the Spanish flu pandemic, and in the 21st century, the Covid-19 pandemic, also known as the corona virus.

Abstract

Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) is an Islamic educational institution under the Ministry of Religious Affairs aimed at developing students' Arabic language skills. However, the dominant use of the lecture method has made students passive and less motivated, which impacts their learning outcomes. This study aims to enhance the learning engagement and outcomes of Class X students at MAN 1 Kota Metro through the implementation of the Total Physical Response (TPR) method. We conducted the research using a Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach, which involved two cycles and a sample of 16 students. The results indicate that the use of the TPR method is effective in improving both student engagement and learning outcomes. Student engagement increased from an average score of 5.37 in the first cycle to 8.5 in the second cycle, showing an improvement of 3.13%. Meanwhile, student learning outcomes improved from 66.5% in the first cycle to 76% in the second cycle, with a 9% increase. Based on these findings, the researcher recommends the use of the TPR method in Arabic language teaching to create an interactive and participatory learning environment, as well as to enhance student motivation and achievement.
