Abstract

Directive Acts are illocution acts a teacher uses to ask the student to do a specific action. This speech act affects the input and output of the language studied. This study aimed to analyze the illocutionary acts used by teachers in learning Arabic at the Al Munawaroh Islamic boarding school, Jombang. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study. The techniques for collecting data are observation with recording and interviews and interactive analysis techniques to analyze data. The results of this study show illocutionary speech acts used in learning Arabic with three functions; 1) The function of commanding by using illocution acts in the form of imperative and declarative; 2) Advise function by using speech acts in the form of imperative mood and fill form of amr; 3) The function of prohibiting by using speech acts in the form of declarative and imperatives. The use of this illocutionary act as a teacher's media provides convenience in the learning process and creates a conducive, communicative, and interactive learning environment.

Abstract

The diverse use of Arabic in Yemen, Egypt, Sudan, and the United Arab Emirates creates a linguistically rich context with variations in dialects, vocabulary, and communication styles. The implications of this diversity on Arabic language learning in Indonesia require a profound understanding, especially in the increasingly interconnected global context where diverse international communication skills are essential. This research aims to explore the implications of such diversity on the international communication abilities of Arabic language learners in Indonesia, focusing on grammar, vocabulary, and cultural context. Qualitative analysis using a literature review approach is employed to explore the variations in Arabic language usage in these four countries. The findings reveal significant differences in phrases related to agriculture, depicting variations in common greetings, general questions, the use of local dialect terms for "school," as well as variations in terms related to "food" or "dish," and terms related to plants, fruits, and trees. Despite the variations, the main findings reflect similarities in the use of formal greetings, general questions, and educational terms across the regions. The implications of these findings can contribute to designing more effective Arabic language learning strategies in Indonesia by considering this diversity.

Abstract

This research aims to find out the various forms of phonological errors that occur in the Arabic language film entitled Inthiq Rasmiyyatan and the causes of these phonological errors. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with data obtained from the conversations of the cast of the santri language film Inthiq Rasmiyyatan. This research uses data collection techniques in the form of listening and recording techniques. Then, the data that has been obtained is analyzed using the error analysis technique or correct analysis. The results of this study reveal that 3 types of phonological errors occur in the conversations of the cast of the film, including phoneme replacement, phoneme reduction, and phoneme addition. The phonological errors occur due to the presence of Arabic phonemes that are almost similar or the influence of first language acquisition. The results of this study can be used as a reference for teachers in conducting learning activities and for Arabic learners in learning and using the language. This is done so that teachers and learners of Arabic can pay more attention to the pattern of the release of language sounds in words, phrases, and clauses. Thus, teachers and learners can pronounce each phoneme correctly in speaking Arabic daily.

Abstract

This study employs a qualitative descriptive approach, utilizing a case study of early childhood learners at the Miftahul Ulum Panyeppen Islamic Boarding School. The research findings indicate that students who have studied the Al-Miftah Lil Ulum method and the Fathul Qorib book exhibit several advantages in vocabulary learning within the context of Arabic language education. Some of these advantages are as follows: 1. Increased responsiveness in memorizing Arabic vocabulary: Children are more adept at memorizing Arabic vocabulary as they are already familiar with it through the Fathul Qorib learning process. 2. Ease in constructing sentences with memorized vocabulary: They find it easier to construct sentences using the vocabulary they have memorized, as they have mastered the principles of Nahwu (Arabic syntax) in the Al-Miftah Lil-Ulum instruction. 3. Ability to expand memorized vocabulary: They can develop the vocabulary they have memorized because they have also mastered Sarraf (Arabic morphology) in the Al-Miftah Lil-Ulum instruction. The benefits of this research are expected to contribute to both practical and conceptual understandings of Arabic language instruction for beginner-level children in Islamic boarding schools. The implications extend to the development of more effective curricula and teaching strategies within the boarding school environment. These findings also provide a foundation for further research in Arabic language education and the success of the Al-Miftah Lil Ulum method in enhancing the Arabic language proficiency of beginner-level children.

Abstract

One of the Arabic language textbooks that is widely used in Integrated Islamic High Schools in Indonesia is the book Al-'Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik. This book is organized into four levels and eight volumes. If each volume is completed in one year, it requires ten hours of study in one week, while the study hours at Integrated Islamic High Schools average four to six hours of study in one week. Therefore, from the aspect of completing the Al-'Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik book, it is difficult to achieve this in schools where there are few teaching hours. This study aims to formulate an Arabic language learning module for SMP IT class VIII through analysis of the book Al-'Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik by Abdurrahman Bin Ibrahim Al-Fauzan, Mukhtar Ath-Thahir Husain, and Muhammad Abdul Khaliq Muhammad Fadhl. The type of research used is library research with content analysis techniques. The primary source for this research is the book Al 'Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik by Abdurrahman Bin Ibrahim Al-Fauzan, Mukhtar Ath Thahir Husain, and Muhammad Abdul Khaliq Muhammad Fadhl. The secondary sources are Al'Arabiyyah Li Al-Nasyiin, Silsilat Ta'lim Lughah 'Arabiyah, Al-'Arabiyah li Al-Kibar fi Ta'lim Al-Lughah Al-'Arabiyyah lighairi Al-Nathiqina Biha, and Arabic MTs Kls VIII Ministry of Religion. The purpose of this writing is to analyze the book Al 'Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik Volume II based on four language skills; al-istima>' (listening), al-kala>m (speaking), al-qira>'ah (reading), and al-kita>bah (writing). It is hoped that the results of this analysis will provide an idea of how the model for preparing Al 'Arabiyyah Baina Yadaik is as well as its completeness if applied in schools with few teaching hours.

Abstract

It is a major topic among academics that the supporting factor for introducing technology to Generation Z in Arabic language learning is the lecturers, mostly filled by the Millennial generation. Therefore, this study aims to explore the utilization of network-based technology by millennial generation lecturers (a review of Arabic language learning in higher education). This research is based on post-positivistic paradigm with quasi-qualitative approach; the data collection methods are interviews, observation, and documentation. The research subjects were 29 millennial generation lecturers born between 1981 and 1996. The data analysis technique used the analysis Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. The results of this study are face-to-face direct feedback-based material delivery technology by millennial lecturers relying on Zoom and Google Meet. In contrast, non-face-to-face direct feedback-based material delivery technology, WhatsApp, and Telegram are still the main applications. As for the technology of providing material based on indirect feedback on the audio aspect, there is no visible use of certain platforms or applications on them; on the audio-visual aspect, millennial lecturers actively create video content on the YouTube platform, while on the text aspect, the use of WordPress, Blogger or special websites is a separate choice for some millennial lecturers. Evaluation technology: several platforms are the choice of millennial lecturers, including Google Form, Quizizz, Kahoot, Quizlet, and Wizer.me. As for special platforms designed for learning purposes, each lecturer still relies on e-learning provided by their respective education units. However, there is an e-learning that is the first choice of most millennial lecturers, namely Moodle.

Abstract

Vocabulary is one of the fundamental elements in active and passive language use. To reach a mastery phase, one must be capable of applying vocabulary in communication, writing, reading, and understanding words as well as sentences. To support the mastery of vocabulary, an engaging learning method known as the "two stay two stray" method is required. The objective of this research is to measure the effectiveness of the two stay two stray method on the mastery of Arabic vocabulary among students. This study utilizes a quantitative approach, specifically a quasi-experimental design known as the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The research findings indicate that the two stay two stray method has proven effective in enhancing students' mastery of Arabic vocabulary, as evidenced by an increase in the average scores of students from 54.50 in the pretest to 71.68 in the posttest. The Paired Samples T-test results demonstrate a significance value (sig2-tailed) of 0.000, indicating that sig 2-tailed (0.000 < 0.05). Therefore, it can be concluded that there is a difference between the results of the pretest and posttest. It is known that the t-score < t-table with (df) n-1 of 27 (-19.249 < -2.051), hence rejecting Ho. Consequently, it can be inferred that the two stay two stray method is effective and influential in enhancing the mastery of Arabic vocabulary among 7th-grade students at eLKISI Mojokerto Junior High School.

Abstract

The emergence of challenges in learning Arabic has driven academics to use complex and efficient methods that have a direct impact on their implementation. Therefore, one method that is considered capable of providing tangible results is "muhadatsah al-yaumi." In this paper, researchers will focus on how muhadatsah al-yaumi is implemented in practice, including textbooks, methods, techniques, and evaluations. The study aims to determine the percentage of user responses to the implementation of muhadatsah al-yaumi to enhance speaking skills. This research uses a mixed-methods approach with a qualitative approach to gather detailed data on the use of muhadatsah al-yaumi. Then, a quantitative approach is employed to measure the percentage of student responses to muhadtsah al-yaumi in improving speaking skills. The field research results show that the implementation of muhadatsah in Islamic boarding schools in South Sulawesi, specifically in two large boarding schools in two different districts (1) PPM Darul Falah Enrekang and (2) PPTQ As-Salam Sidrap, has yielded positive results, especially for users of muhadatsah al-yaumi, namely students from both boarding schools. This is supported by the satisfaction percentage of students regarding the muhadatsah program at PPM Darul Falah Enrekang and PPTQ As-Salam Sidrap, which shows that 8 out of 10 questionnaire variables indicate SATISFIED results, while the remaining 2 show NEUTRAL results. Therefore, it can be concluded that so far, the muhadatsah al-yaumi program has a positive and significant influence and is able to provide satisfaction to students by improving their speaking skills.

Abstract

Traditional Islamic boarding schools are considered to teach Arabic as a tool to study classical Islamic texts (turats) for understanding their religion deeply. Whereas modern Islamic boarding schools perceive Arabic as a medium for communication, tasked with the reception and conveyance of ideas, knowledge, and information. This research took the form of field research, focusing on two research locations divided into two categories: traditional and modern. Data collection involved interviews, observations, and document analysis. Triangulation was applied in the data analysis stage. The research findings indicate that both typologies of Islamic boarding schools innovate and adapt without forsaking their distinctive characteristics, even though this might reduce the gap between them. In traditional Islamic boarding school DDI Mangkoso, the direction of Arabic language education emphasizes mastering grammar and morphology while also adopting language-oriented education. However, these schools face limitations that prevent them from achieving maximal results. On the other hand, the direction of Arabic language education in modern Islamic boarding school Rahmatul Asri focuses on mastering Arabic as a communication tool, following behaviorist theories, despite integrating nahwu-sharaf into its internal curriculum.
