Abstract

Luxcrime is a local cosmetic brand produced by PT Luxury Cantika Indonesia. Its flagship product is Luxcrime Two Way Cake which is a combination of powder and foundation that merge into one. Luxcrime Two Way Cake has won the most sales, beating foreign brands. One of the factors that influence purchasing decisions is influencer recommendations. Luxcrime brand endorses an Indonesian beauty influencer named Tasya Farasya to review Luxcrime products on her social media accounts. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of influencers on purchasing decisions for Luxcrime products among students in Medan city. The type of research used is quantitative research. The data collection technique used in this research is the questionnaire method and uses a Likert scale. The sample in this study were 100 respondents, namely students in Medan city who know Luxcrime Two Way Cake products, have bought Luxcrime Two Way Cake, and have watched Luxcrime Two Way Cake reviews on Tasya Farasya's social media accounts. The sampling method used is accidental sampling. The analysis method used is simple regression with hypothesis testing using the SPSS 23 program. The results of simple regression calculations explain that the independent variable influencer has a positive effect on the dependent variable of purchasing decisions. Then based on hypothesis testing, it is proven that H1 accepted.

Abstract

The film Vina: Sebelum 7 Hari portrays the true story of a teenage girl from Cirebon who became a victim of bullying that ultimately led to her death. This film serves not only as a medium of entertainment but also as a tool for social advocacy, raising public awareness about the dangers of bullying. Through a journalistic approach, the film presents a powerful visual representation of the psychological and social impacts of bullying, as well as the role of the media in shaping public perception.This study employs a semiotic analysis method based on John Fiske's perspective to examine how the film represents sexual violence against women and its effects on public perception. The findings reveal that the film features two scenes of sexual violence, which, when analyzed through semiotic theory, depict the realities of sexual violence, critique societal norms, illustrate patriarchal dominance, and highlight social apathy—all reflected through reflective, intentional, and constructionist representations.Moreover, the film also emphasizes the phenomenon of "trial by social media" that occurred following the circulation of the video depicting Vina’s harassment. This demonstrates how social media can act as a double-edged sword in the pursuit of justice, while also illustrating how both mass and social media influence public opinion regarding issues of bullying and sexual violence.Through strong journalistic representation, this film not only exposes the harsh reality of bullying cases but also encourages the public to be more critical in responding to social issues in the digital era.

Abstract

Inheritance disputes are legally complex phenomena, not only due to the involvement of assets but also because they intertwine with emotional ties and cultural values within the family. In Indonesia, mediation as a form of out-of-court dispute resolution has become a preferred alternative to avoid open conflict, especially in inheritance cases involving sensitive family relations such as those between a stepmother and a stepson. This study aims to explore the dynamics of an inheritance dispute between a stepmother and a stepson following the death of the decedent, identify factors influencing the success of mediation, and evaluate the substantive fairness of the mediated agreement from the perspective of Islamic inheritance law. The methodology employed is empirical juridical research using a case study approach. Data were collected from official documents provided by the law firm handling the case, as well as relevant literature. The analysis was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method, with an emphasis on legal relevance and substantive justice. The findings indicate that the mediation process successfully produced a settlement between the stepmother and stepson regarding the distribution of inheritance. However, the novelty of this study lies in the discovery that the agreement deviated from the proportionality principles of Islamic inheritance law. While the mediation effectively prevented prolonged social conflict, the division of assets did not reflect the ideal distribution according to sharia principles. This highlights a critical gap in the enforcement of formal justice concerning inheritance rights, raising concerns about the substantive effectiveness of out-of-court mediation.

Abstract

The phenomenon of interfaith marriage in Indonesia reflects the complexity of the relationship between positive law, human rights, and religious norms, particularly within a multicultural society. This article examines the practice of registering interfaith marriages through judicial determination, focusing on the case study of Determination No. 1350/Pdt.P/2022/PN.Mdn by the Medan District Court. Using a normative juridical approach supported by empirical data, this study analyzes the applicable legal provisions, judicial considerations, and insights from the perspective of Islam and maqashid al-shari’ah. The findings reveal that the registration of interfaith marriages through court rulings represents a legal response to normative gaps that fail to accommodate the needs of a pluralistic society. In the context of Islamic law, a maslahah-based approach is employed to interpret administrative registration without legitimizing the practice religiously. Meanwhile, from the perspective of state law, the court’s decision demonstrates the application of progressive legal principles and the protection of citizens’ civil rights. Therefore, such rulings serve as an important precedent for reforming marriage registration policies to be more humane, contextual, and aligned with the principles of social justice in a democratic legal state.

Abstract

Organized crime poses a major challenge in modern law enforcement due to its covert nature. One approach used to uncover such crimes is through the role of a justice collaborator, namely a perpetrator who is willing to cooperate with law enforcement authorities. This study aims to analyze the criteria for a justice collaborator according to the Witness and Victim Protection Act and to examine its relevance from the perspective of Islamic criminal law. The method used is normative juridical with statutory, conceptual, and comparative approaches. The results of the study indicate that there are fundamental differences between positive law and Islamic criminal law in assessing the eligibility of a witness, particularly concerning the requirement of justice. Nevertheless, from the perspective of maqasid al-sharia and the urgency of uncovering major crimes, the role of a justice collaborator can be considered relevant and not in contradiction with the principles of Islamic law. The novelty of this study lies in the integrative approach that examines the synchronization between positive legal norms and Islamic justice values in protecting cooperative perpetrators. This study enriches the discourse on criminal law by offering a dualistic perspective that is rarely raised in previous studies. However, this study is limited to a normative study of regulations and doctrines, without examining the empirical implementation or response of judicial institutions in practice. The results are expected to be a conceptual basis for the development of more inclusive and equitable legal policies.

Abstract

The increasing prevalence of cyberbullying among vocational high school students poses a serious challenge in the field of education. This study aims to analyze strategies for strengthening digital-based Civics Education (PPKn) as an effort to prevent cyberbullying. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method, data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis at SMK Prama Artha Serbelawan. The results show that the integration of problem-based learning and experiential learning models in PPKn effectively enhances students' digital literacy, media ethics, and awareness of digital responsibility. The study concludes that digital-based Civics Education plays a significant role in shaping students’ character as active and responsible digital citizens.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the practice of code-switching as a form of cultural interconnection and collective identity transformation among Communication Science students of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU) in virtual space. The phenomenon of code-switching not only reflects students' bilingual abilities but also becomes a communicative strategy in navigating social, cultural, and media algorithmic contexts. With a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation of digital interactions. The analysis was carried out using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana models, and was strengthened by data triangulation to ensure the validity of the findings. The results of the study show that students actively use code-switching as a form of dynamic and contextual identity expression. This practice is evident in the use of digital loanwords, the combination of languages in one utterance (intra-sentential switching), and expressions of popular cultural affiliation such as Japanese. In addition, code-switching is used to build social solidarity and adapt to the norms of online community communication. These findings also underline the linguistic awareness of students in distinguishing language use between formal and informal spaces. Theoretically, this study strengthens the sociolinguistic view that code-switching is not random, but strategic and meaningful in the process of forming social identity. This study is expected to be a reference in developing language education policies that are more adaptive to the dynamics of digital communication in the university environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of Customer Value and Layout on Customer Loyalty at Hizzy Coffee Medan as one of the representations of local coffee shop businesses. The research method used combines a quantitative approach through descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression analysis to test the relationship between the variables studied. Data were obtained from distributing questionnaires to active Hizzy Coffee customers. The results of the study indicate that both customer value and layout simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on customer loyalty. Specifically, layout has a dominant contribution in influencing customer loyalty, where comfortable, aesthetic, and functional room arrangements encourage increased customer satisfaction and repeat visits. These findings emphasize the importance of coffee shop management in maintaining and developing service quality, physical facilities, and interior design that are in accordance with customer preferences. The practical implications of this study provide recommendations for Hizzy Coffee managers and the coffee shop industry in general to integrate strategies for strengthening customer value and optimizing layout as an effort to build sustainable customer loyalty.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the communication strategy implemented by the Public Relations of the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU) through the Instagram platform in order to form a positive image among new students. The data was analyzed using the Theory Image in the corporate image category. The problems studied in this study are how the strategy is built by UINSU Public Relations and what are the inhibiting and supporting factors for the implementation of UINSU's Public Relations strategy. The research method used is a qualitative-descriptive approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation of the Instagram account @uinsu_official and new students in the 2024/2025 academic year. The results of the study are expected to be able to reveal the strategy and effectiveness of the content published by the official account @uinsu_official as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors for the implementation of public relations communication strategies. This study also provides theoretical contributions to the development of communication science as well as practical recommendations for institutions in improving the reputation and involvement of new students through social media.

Abstract

Parental knowledges plays a crucial role in shaping behaviors that support children's oral hygiene. This is studing aims to analyze the relationship between parental knowledge and behaviors with the occurrence of dental caries in children aged 3-5 years. An analytical cross-sectional study was conducted at Posyandu Kenanga 3 in Kelurahan Bugel, Tangerang City, involving 25 parents and their children. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations over three months from February 1 to May 24, 2025. The are results indicate that parental age, education, and access to health information significantly influence children's dental health. Parental involvement in children's dental care is affected not only by age but also by their understanding of oral health practices. The willingness of parents, especially mothers, to take their children for dental care is influenced by the child’s developmental stage. Parental knowledge is key to effective dental health care; thus, enhancing parental knowledge and behaviors is strongly recommended to prevent future issues and establish healthy habits in children from an early age.
