Abstract

The Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) is one of the Islamic-based political parties in Indonesia with strong ideological roots, often associated with transnational Islamic da'wah movements, especially the Muslim Brotherhood from Egypt. This study aims to analyze the Islamic movement ideology promoted by PKS in Medan Polonia. The research method used is a descriptive qualitative approach through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The findings indicate that PKS remains committed to Islamic values as its ideological foundation while exhibiting pragmatic and moderate strategies in local political contexts. PKS integrates da'wah with political and social activities through tarbiyah-based approaches, community service, and interpersonal communication. The transformation from an exclusive da'wah movement to an inclusive political party illustrates PKS's adaptability in facing the dynamics of Indonesian democracy.

Abstract

Mechanical animal slaughter is an innovation that has an impact on the efficiency of modern food industry production while maximizing the fulfillment of people's needs for meat. On the other hand, mechanical slaughter also creates problems related to its halalness. This study aims to analyze and identify aspects of Islamic law related to the halalness of mechanical slaughter and examine the considerations of Islamic law on its efficiency based on maslahat. As doctrinal research, this study is descriptive with an approach to the concept of maslahat and laws and regulations. Data related to the concept of halal animal slaughter and the concept of maslahat, which are integrated with applicable laws and regulations, are collected from the library, processed and analyzed comprehensively using qualitative methods. This study has implications for the use of mechanical slaughter methods to meet the halal standards set by Islam with consideration of the efficiency offered by the modern food industry. The results of the study indicate that mechanical animal slaughter can increase production efficiency, especially time and cost. This efficiency has challenges in ensuring the halalness of the product, especially those related to slaughtering according to sharia, mentioning the name of Allah and the state of consciousness of the animal. Based on the benefits, the use of technology is acceptable as long as there is certainty that the mechanical slaughtering process does not conflict with Islamic law. Mechanical slaughtering still requires stricter regulation and supervision to ensure that the efficiency of slaughtering carried out in the modern food industry is in accordance with the principles of halal.

Abstract

This study analyzes the representation of family communication in the film "Bila Esok Ibu Tiada" using John Fiske's semiotic framework. The film tells the story of a mother, Rahmi,'s struggle to maintain the integrity of her household after her husband's departure. A descriptive qualitative approach was used, with data collection techniques through non-participant observation of the film. Data analysis was conducted at Fiske's three levels of meaning: Reality Level, Representation Level, and Ideology Level, by identifying visual, audio, and cinematography technical codes. The results of the study show that the film effectively displays the breakdown in communication and the mother's loneliness through behavior, gestures, dialogue, and environment. The conflict peaks when the children realize their mother's absence and find the results of the hospital examination, triggering profound emotional changes. Representation codes, such as the use ofshaky camand changes in rhythmeditingfrom dynamic to slow, as well as melancholic music and gloomy lighting, strengthen the emotional impact and meaning. At the ideological level, the film highlights the mother's infinite sacrifice and the tension between modern individualism and the traditional family collectivism value. The Kintsugi philosophy becomes a metaphor for reconciliation, encouraging children's awareness of the importance of family ties. In conclusion, the film successfully constructs a complex meaning about the importance of appreciating the presence of parents and repairing broken family relationships through layered semiotic elements.

Abstract

Delivery service is a service that makes it easier for consumers to send goods from one place to another. However, as time goes by with the increasing volume of delivery, there are challenges in shipping such as the loss of consumer goods when delivery is caused by negligence or courier error. This research aims to find out the company's responsibility for the loss of goods caused by couriers and losses received by consumers. This research method is empirically juridical with a legislative, case and conceptual approaches. The results of this study show that, companies as business actors are responsible for providing compensation for damage, pollution, and/or consumer losses due to consuming goods and/or services produced or traded. Companies as business actors must be responsible and compensate for the loss of consumer goods during delivery caused by courier error or negligence. In this case Wahbah az-Zuhaili said that compensation (ta'widh) is to cover the loss that occurs due to violation or mistake and the correct compensation is full compensation and equivalent to the price of the lost item or replacing the item with a new item. The company must compensate for losses that are equivalent to the price of lost goods and must be done in good faith because it has become a risk that can be estimated by the party providing the service .

Abstract

This study examines cultural reconstruction through the communicative approach of the Rumah Moderasi Beragama (RMB) at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra (UINSU) in projecting the culture of wasathiyyah (moderation) within the academic environment. Motivated by the phenomenon of increasing intolerance despite the rising Religious Harmony Index, this research employs a qualitative methodology with an ethnographic approach grounded in the constructivist paradigm. Primary data were collected through in-depth interviews with five key informants, consisting of RMB administrators and students, supplemented by secondary sources such as books, scholarly articles, and academic journals. Data collection techniques included interviews, participant observation, and documentation, with informants selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model, encompassing stages of reduction, display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source triangulation. The findings reveal that RMB UINSU’s communication strategies such as curriculum integration, training programs, and the use of social media and dialogue spaces have significantly fostered the internalization of wasathiyyah values. However, the effectiveness of communication is highly dependent on the communicator’s capacity, equitable information distribution, and the alignment of messages with the audience’s moral foundations. The discussion highlights the importance of communication accommodation and moral resonance as crucial factors in successful message delivery. The study concludes that RMB UINSU has functioned as an agent of moderate religious cultural reconstruction, although there remains a need to strengthen multimodal communication strategies and expand outreach to less-engaged student communities.

Abstract

Juvenile delinquency remains a growing social challenge in Indonesian society, encompassing various forms of deviant behavior such as student brawls, drug abuse, illegal street racing, and acts of group violence frequently occurring within educational environments and urban communities. This phenomenon not only poses a threat to social stability but also signals the weakening of social control functions and the failure of character-building systems for adolescents. This study aims to identify the causal factors of juvenile delinquency, evaluate the countermeasures that have been implemented, and analyze the relationship between criminological theory particularly the Differential Association Theory and the practice of juvenile delinquency prevention in Indonesia. The method used is a systematic literature review (SLR) of various scientific publications from the past five years, sourced from open-access databases and reputable journals. The data were analyzed using a content analysis approach to synthesize thematic patterns from relevant empirical and theoretical findings. The results indicate that juvenile delinquency is primarily triggered by negative social environments, weak emotional bonds within families, and close association with deviant peer groups. Repressive approaches to addressing delinquency have proven ineffective, as they overlook the sociological roots of such behavior. This study concludes that preventive, community-based interventions that emphasize value education are key to addressing juvenile delinquency systemically. These findings provide an important contribution to the development of evidence-based policy strategies and the design of more contextually relevant social intervention programs in Indonesia.
