Abstract

Seven sub-districts in Jeneponto Regency are located in coastal areas and are producers of seaweed. Binamu District is the largest producer of seaweed in Jeneponto Regency (14% of total seaweed production). “Cahaya Laut” consists of ten members from a group of fishermen and seaweed farmers in Binamu District, (Pattontongan village). Small boats are the operational means of seaweed cultivation which often experience hull damage due to landings. These boats are generally made of wood or fiberglass. This activity aims to introduce fiberglass material components as reinforcement for the outer layer and function as a substitute for boat hull paint. This component can be a solution to the problem of fishermen/cultivators. The component is cobalt-aerosil or known as HDK (trade namely). This material serves to increase the viscosity and strength of the resin polymer as a fiberglass-forming matrix. The implementation of this service consists of two activities, namely: first, providing counseling and explanations related to the function, purpose, showing the form of Cobalt-Aerosil (HDK) and the theory of its use. Second, materials are implementing on the damaged boat hull as an exercise. From this activity, the participants seemed very enthusiastic and just understood that so far in the use of fiberglass material, they have never used HDK components. From the results of the repair of the boat's hull, it can be seen that they are happy because the hull layer has been colored as desired without needing to be painted and has a fairly high hardness. As a follow-up to this service activity, fishermen/cultivators will repair their boats by using HDK components together with resin and coloration as the hull lining.

Abstract

Garbage has become a very classic problem around us, this will have a bad impact on the environment around us if it is allowed to continue. The organic residue that ends up in the landfill will be piled up with other waste and will decompose without oxygen (anaerobic). Therefore, the socialitation of the process of making fertilizers made from kitchen waste can be done by means of a composter. The waste processing process starts from sorting the garbage around the house, including sorting out kitchen waste, then cleaning it and putting it in a composter. Composter is a method of making compost that is more abundant and easy to do among Anthopiles because the tools for making compost come from used materials that are at home. This composter is made of used drums or cans, filters, and filter pipes or hoses. Compost water that comes out of this composter is used to treat flower fertility. in addition to composting at home, we save the earth and provide nutrients to the soil around our homes. .

Abstract

Coastal community education is needed to maintain the balance of coastal border areas. The purpose of this activity is to increase public awareness in dealing with and reducing disaster risk and provide a basic understanding of disaster mitigation in coastal border areas. Disaster mitigation is an activity to reduce the impact of disasters. The main components that need to be considered in understanding disasters are hazard, vulnerability, resilience, and risk. An understanding of the four main components will determine how the approach and action to disaster must be taken. The data collection method was carried out by observing the coastal border area in the Takalar area, then conducting a review of data or documents related to the border area and discussions with the community who live around the coastal border in North Galesong District to complete the results of the data review. In this service activity, counseling is carried out, one of which describes the level of danger of abrasion and the efforts made to reduce the risk. The step taken as an effort to reduce the risk of abrasion is to carry out disaster mitigation efforts. Implementation of disaster mitigation counseling in coastal border areas is a form of non-structural disaster mitigation in terms of strengthening community capacity. This outreach activity motivates the community to strengthen capacity and protect the environment around the coastal border, especially to prevent abrasion.

Abstract

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a digital representation of a building's physical and functional characteristics. BIM contains all information about building elements that is used as a basis for decision making throughout the building's life cycle, from concept to demolition. Tekla Structures is a BIM-supporting software that allows you to create and manage data accurately and in detail, as well as create 3D structural models without forgetting complex materials and structures. The Indonesian government has issued a number of regulations concerning the implementation of BIM in the construction industry. The next challenge is figuring out how to introduce this BIM application technology and encourage all relevant construction sector stakeholders to use it. As a result, the goal of this community service activity is to provide an introduction to Building Information Modeling as well as basic skills in the use of BIM technology applications using Tekla Structures software. This activity was held in Gowa Regency and was attended by 25 participants who were employees of the Gowa Regency Public Works and Spatial Planning Office, as well as representatives of consultants and contractors. Training activities include a general introduction to BIM (BIM Overview), registration of Tekla Campus, the introduction of Tekla Campus features (Tekla Interface and Starting), Tekla Fundamental Training, and examples of more complex cases.

Abstract

Transformation in ship geometry and the development of alternative materials to replace wood will certainly have an impact on the weight of construction, these changes will certainly affect the center of gravity and ship draft, such as wooden ships with steel frames which are made by wooden ship craftsmen in Takalar Regency, after being replaced with steel frame, laden increases with an increase in the draft will affect the hydrostatic characteristics of the ship and the ship's center of gravity, the change, of course, has an impact on the stability of the ship, so an inclining test is needed, so that wooden ship craftsmen can understand the relationship between ship geometry and ship weight. Therefore, in an effort to increase the knowledge of wooden ship craftsmen, inclining test training is a solution and is proposed for community service activities with method of presenting material and practicing directly on ships, the results of this training craftsmen are able to understand the emphasis on steel-constructed wooden ships in relation to life safety at sea and skilled in inclining to test.

Abstract

The technology of transportation is able to support the performance and optimization in unraveling congestion problems. Transportation problems with complexity due to economic growth will require supporting facilities with transportation access. The road network is needed to be able to connect the location from origin to destination arising from generation and attraction. The movement of the trip is affecting the traffic arround. One of anticipation process is developing areas with a study on traffic impact analysis (andallin). Andalallin which is specific study assessing the impact caused by the generation or attraction of an area, potential hazards and accidents, and recommendations related to efforts to deal with impacts on development plans. Every plan for the development of activity centers, settlements, and infrastructure that will cause disturbances in security, safety, order, and smooth traffic and road transportation must be carried out with a Andalallin. Andalalin is able to calculate the trip generation that requires traffic engineering and traffic management to overcome the impact. The existence of a certain area/activity development is part of the transportation system that will create travel potential on building construction. This provides the influence or impact on the surrounding traffic conditions. Visualization for the condition of the road network in 3D through the Vissim program is usually used, the level of road service also shown on the program by entering the parameters from the road geometric condition survey. This traffic simulation is then very important to the stakeholder of transportation caused showing the condition that similar to the real situation with simulation. One of the implementation of Andalallin is traffic management for the construction plan of Bone Tower building in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi.

Abstract

Street Lightning is a part of complimentary stucture of street, which can be put at any part of the street. It aims to light the street and its environment. The advanced improvement of street lightning has applied lightning system with solar photovoltaic that has energy efficiency and environmental friendly. Belabori Village in Gowa District uses electricity for residential lighting and has limited street lightning. This condition leads to safety and convenience issues to its society, which can cause decresing in productivity. Therefore, this community service activity is held to give recommendation to Belabory’ society to applied science and technology to attain reachable appropriate energy resources for their needs. This activity established solar photovoltaic based street lightning system that will give safety and comfort to the society during night time and also gave advising about the importance of street lighting for the productivity and how to maintain the facility. To evaluate the usefulness of this activity, method has been applied by comparing the result pre-and-post activity through discussion and survey. The results show that there is an increasing awareness of the importance of the street lightning for safety, convenience and productivity of the society. There is also counsciousness of the Belabori’ society to retain the sustianability of the facility. They are also starting to know some of renewable energy based technologies to increase their productivity.

Abstract

The increasing number of tourists visiting the islands in the Makassar City area is an exciting thing, especially for the perpetrators of inter-island crossing transportation. On the other hand, the safety aspect of this crossing must be a concern not only for tourists and the crossing transportation actors themselves, but the government and the general public must also provide input. Currently, there are about 25 boats operating on island tourism crossings, especially those operating at Panyua Pier. To increase awareness and safety of this sea crossing, a socialization activity on safety rules was carried out. The socialization was carried out directly in the room by presenting the crossing transportation actors. The participants were given material on safety rules for sea crossing transportation by the socialization team from the Department of Marine Engineering as part of the tridharma of higher education. Due to the ongoing pandemic conditions, the number of participants present in the room is limited. This socialization activity is aimed at the perpetrators of crossing transportation to tourist islands or in local terms called "palimbang" or people who cross passengers to the island using motor boats. Prior to the socialization, the committee gave a pretest to measure the level of knowledge of the 15 participants of the socialization. Posttest was also given after the socialization activity was carried out with the aim of knowing how well the participants' ability to absorb the socialization material was. From the results of the pretest to several questions, the result was an increase in knowledge of about 28.33% of the material given. At the end of this socialization activity, the participants were given life jackets as a safety tool, with the hope that the palimbangs will continue to use them while carrying out palimbang activities for their safety.

Abstract

Increasing marine resources is one of the present government programs. To support this, it is necessary to increase human resources in coastal areas. One of the fundamental and important things is basic knowledge of machine repair and maintenance methods. The high cost of repairing and maintaining outboard engines is one of the major issues to fishermen, their lack of knowledge about engine repair and maintenance has resulted in them having to spend more money on it. This dedication activity was attended by 11 people from the “Sehati” fishing group. From the results of the counseling and guidance that has been carried out, 90% of fishermen are in the good category and plan to implement a schedule and how to maintain the fuel, lubricant and engine cooling water system. The remaining 10% of fishermen still do not understand the importance of the ship's outboard engine maintenance schedule, this is due to the low level of education so they still need time to learn the material that has been given. With many fishermen who are able to implement schedules and how to maintain the fuel, lubricant and engine cooling water system, the productivity and welfare of the fishing community increases, especially in the place where this activity is carried out, namely in Pa'bentengang village, Marusu District, Maros Regency.

Abstract

The “Karya Bersama” Fisherman Group in Galesong Village, Galesong District, Takalar Regency as partners in this activity using an outboard engine as a fiberglass boat propulsion engine in fishing activities. In the initial observation, information was found that the service life of their boat engine was very low, which was about 3 years because the engine was often failure. The causes of engine failure are the lack of fishermen’s knowledge on how to run the engine properly and engine maintenance techniques. This community service aims to increase the knowledge of partners in boat engine maintenance techniques. The expected benefit of this activity is to reduce the number of engine breakdowns and reduce operational costs, especially the cost of repairing boat engines. The method of this service activity is counseling by providing material about the general description of ship propulsion engines, types of engine damage, and periodic maintenance techniques on boat engines. Evaluation of the level of knowledge of participants in receiving the transfer of science and technology is carried out using the pre-test method at the beginning of the activity and the post-test conducted at the end of the activity. The results of the activity showed that 90% of the 10 participants had good knowledge of boat engine periodic maintenance techniques and were able to carry out engine maintenance activities correctly.
