Abstract

The supervision of spatial plans should not only be imposed by certain agencies, but involve all elements of society. Community participation in spatial planning supervision has not gone well so far. This is indicated by the lack of community participation in spatial planning supervision, especially in vulnerable areas such as riverbanks. The purpose of this activity is expected to increase community knowledge in spatial planning supervision and is expected to actively participate in the spatial planning supervision agenda. In addition, it is hoped that the level of public awareness can increase so that they can play a direct role in spatial supervision in their area. The target of this activity is the community on the banks of the Tallo River in Makassar City. The activities were carried out through lectures and material exposure and also continued with activity evaluation. Evaluation was carried out before and after the implementation of the activity to determine the level of understanding of the participants and also measure the extent of their involvement in spatial planning supervision. The results of this activity showed an increase in participants' understanding of spatial planning from 86.7% (26 people) to 93.33% (28 people), in addition there was also an increase in the participants' desire to be involved in spatial monitoring activities to 100% (30 people) from 90% (27 people) who had never participated in spatial planning monitoring activities.

Abstract

The existence of coral reefs in Indonesia ranks first in area and type. The total area of coral reefs owned by Indonesia is 14% of the total area of coral reefs in the world. Coral reefs have an important value in life, both in terms of ecology to promising economic value. Therefore, the Department of Marine Engineering in collaboration with partners of the South Sulawesi Provincial Tourism Office held an activity “Coral Transplantation as an Environmental Care Action for sustainable use”. This activity has the aim of providing an understanding of the importance of knowledge about the economic and environmental benefits of coral reefs as a beach / sun tourism attraction for domestic and foreign tourists to visit the province of South Sulawesi, especially on Badi Island in Pangkep Regency (Pangkajene Islands). Coral reefs that have been damaged require a long time to recover, due to the slow growth rate of corals. Therefore, human intervention through various methods and means becomes indispensable to improve and rehabilitate the condition of coral reefs. One rehabilitation technique that has been widely recognized and applied in various parts of the world is coral transplantation. By using lecture and discussion methods, as well as coral reef rehabilitation efforts through the real action of coral transplantation. The results obtained showed that there was an increase in knowledge before and after the community participated in the activity and the degradation of coral reefs that occurred could be restored through transplantation of 500 donor corals. The conclusion of this activity indicates that the presentation of material in the form of lectures and discussions has increased community knowledge, and the real action of coral reef transplantation can increase coral reef colonies as a sustainable use.

Abstract

Mamminasata is a metropolitan urban area in Eastern Indonesia. One of the areas in this metropolitan area is Takalar Regency. An effective and efficient method of monitoring and evaluating infrastructure in Takalar Regency is needed. One method that can be done is by monitoring and evaluating infrastructure in the region based on geographic information systems, which are computer-based information systems used to process and store geographic-based data or information. Monitoring and evaluation is done by looking at the number and distribution of infrastructure spatially. The partner in the implementation of this activity is the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing and Settlement Area Office of Takalar Regency. Activities are carried out by providing material and training on the use of Geographic Information Systems in monitoring and evaluating regional infrastructure. Training on monitoring and evaluation of regional infrastructure in the mamminasata region based on geographic information systems aims to increase the capacity of human resources (HR) / civil servants (PNS) in related agencies, especially in the Spatial Planning Division in terms of monitoring and evaluating infrastructure that has been built, as well as more effective and efficient spatial supervision by utilizing Geographic information systems. In conducting monitoring activities, participants were trained to use Arc GIS and Google Earth software. The Google Earth software used is Google Earth software that is run on a smart phone. These two software make monitoring, evaluation, and also supervision easier to do in a large area with limited human resources. From the results of the training, there was a significant increase in the number of participants' knowledge from 16.7% to 100%.

Abstract

The Wae Tuoe Fishermen Group in Pinrang Regency is a coastal community located in Suppa District, Pinrang Regency, South Sulawesi Province, where the majority of the population relies on marine resources for their livelihood. The bagang is a structure made of wood or bamboo located in the middle of the sea, about 500 meters to 2 kilometers from the shore, used by fishermen to catch or store fish. The bagang has great potential but is not optimally utilized by fishermen as a source of livelihood and economic improvement. This is because the fish catch is maximized at night. The limited lighting, which could help optimize the fishing process, is due to the restricted availability of electricity from generators. The development of solar cell technology, which can generate and store electricity, is a new breakthrough in the use of renewable energy. The use of solar cells is expected to provide an energy source for lighting on the bagang, allowing fishermen to maximize their activities at night. The solar cell lighting system is designed to supply six light points with a capacity of 5 x 50 watts operating at night from 7:00 PM to 4:00 AM. The design of the PLTS, which consists of two solar panels with a capacity of 550 Wp, four 12 V batteries with a capacity of 100 Ah, and a 1000-watt inverter, is expected to provide electricity as a lighting source for the bagang during the night. After conducting counseling and training on solar power plant (PLTS) technology, 18 out of 20 members of the Wae Tuoe Fishermen Group gained knowledge about the utilization, design, installation process, usage, and maintenance of PLTS technology.

Abstract

The density of ships in the Makassar harbor shipping channel increases along with the increase in the number of ships entering and leaving the port and ships passing through the shipping channel, including traditional passenger ships and fishermen from the surrounding islands. This situation can increase the risk of a ship collision. Traditional passengers and fishing boats have the potential to collide because their boats are not detected by other ships. This situation can occur because they do not have a device that can exchange ship position information, namely, the Automatic Identification System (AIS). The use of an AIS is an alternative solution that can be detected by large ships and provides ship navigation actions to avoid collisions. The socialization of AIS technology and its application to the operators, owners of traditional passenger ships and fishermen is the first step in introducing AIS technology for sailing safety. The activity, which consisted of lectures and Q&A sessions, was used in partnership with the local administration and was attended by 15 people. The activity was assessed by asking the same six questions before and following the presentation. Five participants (33%) were selected for assessment. The initial evaluation revealed that none (0% of participants) were familiar with AIS devices that could supplement radar function. In the final review, 83% of the accumulated responses were correct, up from 25% previously; 17% did not comprehend how AIS works. This activity improves participants' grasp of the importance of utilizing AIS, how it works, and the necessity for sample devices to aid further comprehension.

Abstract

This community service program is focused on a number of issues such as the implementation of the wireless ECG device design and the dissemination and demonstration of its technical operations in a such manner to all participants, e.g. the activists and supporters of the sub-village community healthcare center (PUSTU) located in Malimongeng Village, Salomekko District, Bone Regency. Several models of the latest WECG devices and the latest innovations have been developed and produced independently on the UNHAS campus, both hardware and software components. This Electrocardiogram (ECG) functions to monitor the condition of heart health and blood pressure in each patient who has been fitted with an ECG device. Each wireless ECG device is connected by an internet network and integrated at once in 1 Website that displays ECG signal graphics so that it can be monitored and controlled in real time from a distance. The application of ECG is very necessary for nurses or medical teams in a health institution to facilitate the control of the condition of patients in the room without having to walk back and forth to check the condition of patients being treated. The implementation of this community service is divided into 2 stages, namely the dissemination stage of basic knowledge of ECG technology and the technical training stage for operating ECG devices to support the patient condition control system at the health center. The results of recording the level of knowledge and understanding of the Malimongeng Village community who participated in community service activities carried out by a team of researchers and inventors from the Department of Electrical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Hasanuddin University were documented using the Googleform questionnaire application which had been designed earlier before the implementation of the activity in such a way as to measure the level of success of the implementation of the 2024 PKM program. The questionnaire survey was distributed and filled out by PKM participants online, both before and after the provision of material. After the implementation of the dissemination agenda and demonstration of the operation of the IoT WECG technology device, there was an increase in the knowledge and general understanding of the Malimongeng Village community who participated in the LBE Excellent Collaboration community service program in 2024 in both aspects of the category, namely general knowledge of health science and technical matters related to the development and production of IoT WECG devices along with their direct application in the midst of community life. The influence of participation in the series of PKM activities on both aspects of the target of counseling/socialization resulted in an increase in the capacity of knowledge in the community, namely around 30 percent and 25 percent respectively. Aspects of Technology Benefits and Activities, Based on the recommendations and input of all PKM activity participants, the following issues are highly expected by the Malimongeng Village community, including: aspects of the quality and diversity of cutting-edge science should be formulated to be more interesting and increase the insight of the village community, aspects of the availability of more sophisticated health devices should and should be equipped as soon as possible with more sophisticated and modern health infrastructure and facilities in the village and aspects of sustainability of research and development and production to overcome the problem of the availability of health facilities in the village and nationally.
