Abstract

Background: Anxiety felt during inhalation procedures can affect a child's psychosocial development and reduce the child's health status. The anxiety experienced by children who are given a nebulizer is indicated by signs and symptoms, namely the child becomes aggressive, angry, rebellious, does not know the staff and the hospital environment, which causes not all of the nebulizer medication given to be inhaled, thus affecting the dose of the drug and the healing process. Research Objective: To determine the effect of audiovisual distraction on anxiety in pre-school children who received nebulizer therapy at Bhayangkara Brimob Hospital Research Method: This research is quantitative research with the type of research used in this research being quasi experimental with a pre and post test research design without control group design. The research sample consisted of 62 respondents. The instrument in this research was to use a visual facial anxiety scale (VFAS) observation questionnaire sheet. Statistical analysis uses parametric analysis with Paired T-Test. Research Results: The average value of anxiety level before audiovisual distraction was 4.290 and after audiovisual distraction was 1.725. The results of the research revealed the value of Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) of 0.000 is smaller than <0.05 Conclusions and Suggestions: There is an influence of audiovisual distraction on the anxiety of pre-school aged children who received nebulizer therapy at Bhayangkara Brimob Hospital. Abstract

The fifth biggest cause of death globally due to respiratory and cardiovascular diseases, air pollution has been steadily increasing over the last several years. This article's goal is to provide a synopsis of a number of pertinent studies that discuss the concentration of pollutants caused by industrial emissions, the impact of being close to the industry, and the consequences of these variables on respiratory health. A systematic review approach is used in this piece. Three scientific databases—ProQuest, PubMed, and ScienceDirect—conducted a literature search for articles published during the last decade. Study participants had to be either children or teenagers, there had to be at least one site in an industrial region, the study had to deal with respiratory symptoms, respiratory illness, and/or pulmonary function testing. Only seven papers out of two hundred and twenty-two were ultimately considered for inclusion in the systematic review. Both pollution concentrations and children's respiratory difficulties are shown to be greater in locations close to industries as opposed to places further away, according to the included publications.

Abstract

In the herbal plants of jambu bol (Syzygium malaccense L.) and manila sapodilla (Manilkara zapota L.), especially in the leaves of the plant, it contains very strong antioxidants. According to research by Zaen Devi Maulani and Ekayanti Meiliza, the antioxidant activity value of ethanol extract of jambu bol leaves (Syzygium malaccense L.) is 3.297 ± 2.595 ppm and for ethanol extract of manila sapodilla leaves (Manilkara zapota L.) is 8.2786 μg/mL. The antioxidant activity of a compound is said to have very strong antioxidants if the IC₅₀ value is less than 50 ppm, strong IC₅₀ if the IC₅₀ value ranges from 50-100 ppm, moderate if the IC₅₀ value ranges from 100-150 ppm, and weak if the IC₅₀ value ranges from 150-200 ppm. This study is an experimental laboratory by measuring the antioxidant activity value (IC₅₀) using different solvents in the combination of the two simplicia and the toxicity concentration of the combination of the two simplicia using the CCK-8 assay method. The samples used were tested for determination to determine and ensure that the materials used were the correct samples to be tested and made into extracts. Furthermore, the extraction of samples with solvents was concentrated with a rotary evaporator to separate the active substances and solvents. The results of this study indicate that there is no significant difference in the antioxidant activity of the combination of jambu bol leaf extract (Syzygium malaccense L.) and manila sapodilla leaf extract (Manilkara zapota L.) in the positive control (ascorbic acid). There is a significant difference in the cytotoxicity of jambu bol leaf extract (Syzygium malaccense L.) and manila sapodilla leaf extract (Manilkara zapota L.) in the positive control (DMSO) on the viability of HSC-3 cells. The combination of jambu bol leaf extract (Syzygium malaccense L.) and sapodilla leaf extract (Manilkara zapota L.) at a concentration of 5-160 µg/mL did not show any cytotoxic effect on the viability of HSC-3 cells.

Abstract

Screen time refers to the duration a person spends looking at electronic device screens, such as cell phones, computers, tablets, or televisions. High screen time can influence various aspects of life, including energy intake, physical activity, and nutritional status. This study aims to explore the relationship between screen time and nutritional status among students of the Faculty of Medicine, Muslim University of Indonesia (UMI) class of 2021. Using an observational cross-sectional design, the study involved students as respondents. Results indicated that 51% of students had sufficient screen time, while 49% had normal nutritional status. Data analysis using the chi-square test yielded a p-value of 0.118, suggesting no significant relationship between screen time and nutritional status (p > 0.05). Although screen time is often linked to lifestyle changes, such as reduced physical activity or unhealthy eating, this study concludes that it does not directly impact nutritional status in this population. The findings may serve as a foundation for future research that considers additional factors influencing nutritional status.

Abstract

The success of maternal health programs is often evaluated using the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR), which measures deaths during pregnancy, childbirth, and the puerperium due to pregnancy-related causes. In 2020, hypertension in pregnancy was a leading cause of maternal deaths, with 1,110 cases reported. Pre-eclampsia, characterized by hypertension (blood pressure ≥140/90 mmHg) and proteinuria after 20 weeks of gestation, is a significant concern. Overweight and obesity are high-risk factors associated with increased pregnancy complications, including pre-eclampsia. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between Body Mass Index (BMI) and pre-eclampsia at Amanat Hospital in Makassar City. Using an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach, 284 pregnant women were assessed. The prevalence of pre-eclampsia was found to be 9.9%, with 28 women diagnosed. Bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test revealed a significant association between BMI and pre-eclampsia (p = 0.001), while no significant association was found between Upper Arm Circumference (LILA) and pre-eclampsia (p = 0.348). The study concludes that BMI is significantly associated with pre-eclampsia, whereas LILA does not show a significant relationship.
