Abstract

This activity aims to evaluate the effectiveness of socialization and mentoring activities in managing Business Identification Numbers (NIB) in Singosari District, Malang, East Java. The main objective is to increase the understanding and awareness of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) about the importance of business legality and NIB management procedures. This activity was carried out from January to March 2024 involving 20 MSMEs and led by lecturers from the Indonesian School of Economics, Surabaya. The method includes socialization and individual consultation sessions to provide practical information and direct guidance in managing NIB. Evaluation using a qualitative approach shows that socialization and mentoring activities are effective in increasing the understanding and confidence of MSMEs in managing NIB. Participants experienced an increase in knowledge about the benefits of NIB, such as access to financing and opportunities for participation in government programs. However, there are limitations in the accessibility and sustainability of the program. Suggestions for the future include expanding the reach of socialization, strengthening cooperation, and utilizing technology to support the sustainable growth of MSMEs in the region. This activity makes a positive contribution to supporting MSMEs in managing their businesses legally and sustainably in Singosari District.

Abstract

AbstractMacaca fascicularis, included in the Cercopithecidae family, have a significant ecological role, one of which is as a disperser of seeds from the fruits they consume. M. fascicularis is tolerant to different types of natural and non-natural food (human food waste and rubbish), so it is currently an omnivorous animal. It can be found not only in primary and secondary forests but also in habitats close to human activity. M. fascicularis in Bali can be found in sacred areas such as temples, one of which is in the Pulaki temple area. This research aimed to determine the variety of food choices of M. fascicularis in the Pulaki temple area. This research was conducted from June to October 2023. M. fascicularis in the Pulaki Temple area was divided into four groups: Madya, Medal, Pabean, and Parkiran. The daily activities of M. fascicularis observed in this study were sleeping, grooming, sexual activity, moving, eating, caring for children, playing, and agonistic (violent activity). Based on calculations, the consumption of non-natural foods had a higher frequency (87.18%) than natural foods (12.78%). During the research, M. fascicularis in the Pura Pulaki area had the highest preference for Gemitir flowers (n=2299). Gemitir flowers are one of the offerings fillings by Hindus who perform prayers. The high consumption of non-natural food by M. fascicularis in this area was due to several factors, namely, the lack of natural food sources and the low level of human awareness for not providing non-natural food, thus changing the animals' natural behavior. This behavior change could alter the role of animals in the ecological niche, thereby reducing the balance of the ecosystem. Therefore, it is necessary to maintain the natural behavior of animals by increasing natural food sources and creating clear rules regarding the prohibition of feeding animals to visitors.

Abstract

Certification exams conducted online must be of the same quality as those conducted on-site. To achieve this, it is necessary to conduct a study in which assessors need to identify obstacles in implementing online certification examinations which have been implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic. The study aims to analyze the perspective of the assessors to identify the barrier factors, understand the interrelation among them, and propose improvements to the online application process. The method applied was the MICMAC (Matrix of Cross-impact Multiplications Applied to Classification), a structural model, to analyze the variables based on their influence and dependence driving force. A case study was conducted on the Indonesia Hydraulic Engineer Association. The data was collected from a focus-group discussion with the assessors. The result revealed that the barrier factors consist of technical aspects, such as internet connection delay, hackers and viruses, and unverified e-document; and social aspects, such as questioning skills limitation, non-verbal communication skills limitation, and environment distraction. The study found that internet connection delay and questioning skill limitations are the barriers with the highest influence beyond other barriers in the online assessment process. Also, the questioning skills limitation factor has the highest dependency on other barriers. Hence, it can be proposed that the curricula of the assessors’ training and/or certification program, should be incorporated with the questioning skill in an online assessment environment.

Abstract

Genetic data of sea turtles in Southern Bali remains limited as most previous studies rely on adult or live samples, while unhatched eggs are rarely utilized as a genetic resource. This study aims to identify the species and genetic diversity of unhatched sea turtle eggs from conservation sites in Southern Bali using mitochondrial control region. A total of six non-viable eggs were analyzed through DNA extraction, PCR, sequencing, and data analysis using MEGA 11, NCBI BLAST, and DnaSP v6. The identification results revealed that all samples belonged to the species of Lepidochelys olivacea (olive ridley turtle), with sequence similarity ranging from 99.54% to 100% and query coverage of 89% to 99% compared to reference data from GenBank. Phylogenetic analysis showed that all samples clustered within the same clade, with intraspecific genetic distances ranging from 0 to 0.008. Genetic diversity analysis revealed a haplotype diversity (Hd) of 0.86667 and nucleotide diversity (π) of 0.00306, with a total of four distinct haplotypes and six polymorphic sites. These findings indicate that unhatched sea turtle eggs still contain viable genetic material for analysis and suggest that Lepidochelys olivacea is the dominant nesting species found in Southern Bali. This study carries important implications for advancing conservation policy, enhancing habitat protection, minimizing inbreeding risks, and strengthening the use of species identification through forensic genetics.
