Abstract

Have good mathematical literacy is important to develop because it plays an important role in solving various problems in everyday life. Meanwhile, the mathematical literacy of male and female students is different. This study aims to see and describe how mathematical literacy differences in male and female students at the junior high school level. The method used in research is meta-synthesis which is carried out by analyzing qualitative data derived from various similar studies. As a result, male students have a tendency to have better mathematical literacy than female students. Of the seven indicators of mathematical literacy, male students are able to master four to seven indicators. Meanwhile, female students can only meet three to seven indicators. Male and female students have equally fulfilled communication, mathematization, and representation skills. Both also need to improve their ability to determine problem-solving strategies and provide logical reasoning and reasoning. Furthermore, the authors suggest that similar research be carried out with a longer time span and a wider range of research areas. Furthermore, it can also conduct research on high school students so that they can be compared so that it can be understood whether there are significant differences in mathematical literacy skills at both school levels. Thus, the results obtained can be represented to be used as a basis for making decisions such as the development of more inclusive and effective learning strategies in the educational environment.

Abstract

This research departs from the problem that students do not have adequate mathematical ability to solve complex problems. This study aims to investigate students' mathematical problem-solving skills based on cognitive styles and identify the difficulties students face in solving problems. The research method used was an explanatory sequential mixture conducted at SDN Ncera, and the research subjects were selected using purposive sampling. The test instruments used are MFFT, description test, and interview. Data analysis uses quantitative descriptive analysis and qualitative descriptive analysis. The results showed that 1) grade V students of SDN Ncera with impulsive cognitive styles were more than students with reflective cognitive styles in mathematical problem-solving skills. Impulsive students tend to be rushed and less check their answers, resulting in incorrect solutions, while reflective students provide more accurate solutions even if it takes longer. 2) The results of the identification of students' difficulties in solving problems showed that students with a reflective cognitive style already understood information formulas and could solve problems related to the area of the parallelogram. However, he did not re-examine his work and conclude the results of his work. Meanwhile, students with impulsive cognitive styles showed that students experienced difficulties, especially in the steps of implementing the plan and checking the final results. Students make mistakes in calculations because they do not spend enough time and are not thorough.

Abstract

This research was conducted because there are still many grade II students experiencing difficulties in Mathematics lessons on addition and subtraction operations involving numbers up to 999. This problem arises when teachers have limitations in learning media and only use theme books as learning resources, causing a lack of numeracy skills in students because the learning process runs without using learning media. The purpose of this study is that researchers want to help students improve their numeracy skills by creating smart board learning media that can meet the criteria and eligibility to be used in Mathematics lessons, addition and subtraction materials up to 999. The method used in research is Research and Development (R & D) using a 4D model which includes the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. Experts and grade II students of SDN Nagrak 03 filled out questionnaires that were used to collect data. Participants in this study were grade II students of SDN Nagrak 03, This study was divided into 2 groups, namely a large group of 28 students and a small group of 7 students. Based on the validation results, 95% of the media expert category is valid and very useful, for material experts there are 2 validation results, namely with a 93% validation percentage and a 98% validation percentage, both of which show the valid and very useful expert category. In addition, 93% of small group answers fall into the "very decent" category, while 94% of large group answers fall into the "very decent" category. Thus, the smart board learning media used to improve the numeracy skills of grade II students of SDN Nagrak 03 is practical, or very suitable for use in Mathematics learning.
