Abstract

This study aims to prove an increase in the expression of uncoupling protein-1 (UCP-1) after moderate-intensity continuous exercise in obese females. The present study employed a true-experimental with the randomized control group pretest-posttest design. A total of 12 obese females were enrolled in this study and given moderate-intensity continuous exercise. Continuous exercise was done with an intensity of 60-70% HRmax for 40 minutes using a treadmill. The Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) method was used to examine the expression of UCP-1. Data were analyzed using independent samples t-test with statistics packet for social science (SPSS) software version 17. The results obtained mean UCP-1 expression on K1 between pre-exercise (3.68±0.46) ng/mL, post-exercise (3.73±0.69) ng/mL and (p=0.875). Mean UCP-1 expression on K2 between pre-exercise (3.64±1.52) ng/mL, post-exercise (6.83±0.64) ng/mL and (p=0.001). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that there is an increase in UCP-1 expression between before and after moderate-intensity continuous exercise in obese females. Future studies are suggested to compare the effect of acute exercise with moderate intensity chronic exercise on increasing UCP-1 expression in obese females.

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the relationship between self-confidence, understanding of TPACK and the teaching quality of prospective physical education teachers when conducting online learning. The correlational research method was used in a population of 132 students practicing STKIP Pasundan who were following the PPL program. A total of 96 samples were involved in this study by means of convenience sampling. The instrument used to measure teaching confidence is a questionnaire with a Likert scale questionnaire (1-5 scale) which has been tested for validity and reliability with the results of r = 0.791. Meanwhile, to measure the quality of teaching, the Teaching Quality Scale (TQS) and TPACK Questioners. The results showed that the contribution of all independent variables (confidence and understanding of TPACK) to the dependent variable (quality of teaching physical education) simultaneously was 72.1%. Research shows that the psychological factor of self-confidence can determine the goals to be achieved (quality of teaching physical education) even though it is weak by being influenced by experience, knowledge and other skills, including understanding of TPACK. Therefore, further research is recommended to discuss forms of intervention for prospective physical education teachers to increase confidence in using technology when teaching online and increase understanding of TPACK in order to make students interested in learning when learning online so as to maintain teaching quality.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the appropriate training program and portion in order to improve the physical performance of athletes. This literature review inquiry was obtained from various PubMed and Google Scholar databases by entering keywords, namely: Sports, Yoga, Basic Physical Components, MDA and IL6. This inquiry reviewed 33 articles published in national and international online journals and have been accredited. The results literature review done on prior studies show basic physical components can be optimally improved through exercises based on the FITT formula, namely interval training, fartlek, weight training, circuit training, plyometrix, rope jump and PNF. In addition, showed that aerobic and anaerobic exercises decreased MDA levels. However, the control group experienced a very significant increase in MDA levels. High-intensity exercise was found able to trigger releasing inflammatory mediators such as TNF-ά and IL-6. Furthermore, some literature showed that long-term yoga practice can reduce MDA levels and IL-6 levels as it as it increases antioxidant levels and anti imflamatory levels. This literature review is expected to provide comprehensive explanation of good and measurable training programs for athletes, coaches and sports institutions. Thereby, athletes’ physical performance can be optimally improved and injuries can be avoided so that athletes get sports achievements.

Abstract

The use of Cryotherapy and Foam rolling methods is considered to speed up the post-exercise recovery process. However, so far there have been no studies comparing the two methods, thus the aim of this study was to compare the Cryotherapy and Foam rolling methods on performance and lactate levels in futsal athletes. This study uses an experimental method with a one-way crossover design pretest-posttest approach. The total subjects were 16 Amateur Futsal Players with an average age, 20.25 ± 1.23 years; height, 168.87 ± 2.02 cm; and weight, 54.61 ± 1.94 kg; BMI, 19.16 ± 1.01 kg/m-2. The results showed that foam rolling and cryotherapy had no effect on physical performance, but both methods could significantly reduce lactate levels. However, in this case the foam rolling method showed an improvement in the 20-meter sprint which was better than cryotherapy. Thus, the results of this study provide a recommendation for futsal athletes to use foam rolling in the post-exercise recovery process.
