Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of school principals’ transformational leadership and the effectiveness of learning communities on elementary school teachers’ professional competence. The background is that teachers’ professional competence is not yet optimal; it is still at a basic level. The role of the principal learning leader and the effectiveness of learning community activities are not yet evident. The research used a quantitative, correlational design. The population consisted of all elementary school teachers in Tanggungharjo District, and a sample of 137 respondents was selected using proportional random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability, and analyzed using simple and multiple linear regression. The results of the study show that the principal’s transformational leadership has a positive and significant effect on teachers’ professional competence, with a regression coefficient of 0.710. The effectiveness of the learning community has a positive and significant effect on teachers’ professional competence, with a regression coefficient of 0.435. Transformational leadership and learning community effectiveness had a significant effect on teachers’ professional competence, with a contribution (R Square) 60.2%. An inspiring leadership style and the optimization of the learning community are key factors in improving teacher professionalism.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of organizational support, self-management, and trust on innovation in vocational high school (SMK) teachers. This study employed a mixed methods approach with a sequential explanatory design. The qualitative phase involved structured interviews to explore teachers’ perceptions and practices, followed by a quantitative phase through a survey of private vocational high school teachers. Data analysis was conducted using the POP-SDM (Modeling and Optimization of Strengthening Management Resources) approach combined with SITOREM analysis. The results indicate that organizational support, self-management, and trust have a positive and significant effect on teacher innovation. Furthermore, SITOREM analysis identified priority indicators that need immediate improvement: compliance with regulations, interpersonal trust, independence, self-development, and the ability to implement and develop ideas. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of strengthening school policies that support leadership, improving teacher self-management, and building a climate of trust to encourage sustainable teacher innovation in addressing the challenges of educational transformation.

Abstract

This study is a qualitative descriptive research aimed at understanding teachers' perceptions of the "Merdeka Belajar" curriculum policy, particularly in relation to assessment, at public senior high schools (SMAN) in Konawe Regency. It also seeks to identify the challenges encountered in implementing this policy in the area of assessment. The sample in this study was selected using purposive sampling. Data collection methods included observation, interviews, and documentation, with interviews conducted using a structured set of questions. The results of the study indicate that teachers at SMAN in Konawe Regency have a positive perception of the "Merdeka Belajar" curriculum policy, especially regarding its application in assessment. However, several challenges were identified in its implementation, including: the diversity of student characteristics, teachers' limited understanding of the "Merdeka Belajar" curriculum policy in terms of both the teaching and assessment processes, low student motivation, unclear literacy materials, limited facilities and infrastructure, inadequate training provided by schools, and difficulties in conducting diagnostic assessments. To address these challenges, several solutions are proposed: Teachers should be more proactive in seeking information and knowledge about the "Merdeka Belajar" curriculum policy through online resources. Teachers should also participate more in training activities, both online and offline, to increase their understanding of the curriculum. Schools need to provide teaching materials and technological resources to support teachers. Furthermore, the professional development of teachers should be prioritized through ongoing educational initiatives.

Abstract

This study aims to develop and evaluate an integrative character education model based on the local wisdom of wayang supported by new media in Vocational High Schools. This study uses a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative analysis with Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) and strategic optimization using SITOREM. The study population consisted of 258 teachers at a State Vocational High School in one district in Indonesia. The results show that the suitability of wayang story material, wayang-based character values, teacher motivation, the internalization of character values, and the interactivity of new media strongly influence the effectiveness of character education. SEM-PLS analysis confirmed that the proposed model met the goodness-of-fit criteria, indicating that the model is valid and reliable. Mediation analysis showed that character internalization and media interactivity did not significantly strengthen the effect of the main variables, indicating the need for additional reinforcing factors. The results of the SITOREM analysis identified priority areas for improvement, including honesty, exemplary behavior, spirituality, teacher motivation, student engagement, and media responsiveness. The implications of this research contribute to educational management by offering a culture- and data-based model to improve the effectiveness of character education through the integration of local wisdom, teacher roles, instructional design, and digital media.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze curriculum change management in kindergartens, including obstacles and solutions. The approach used was a descriptive qualitative one, with principals and school administrators as research subjects and teachers as informants. This study took place from February to June 2025, with data collected through interviews, document analysis, and triangulation. Data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The results showed that the curriculum change management process in kindergartens followed the stages proposed by Lewin: the opening stage (planning), the change stage (implementation), and the refreezing stage (evaluation). A novelty found was the existence of accelerating factors in curriculum transformation that had not been specifically discussed in Lewin’s theory. These accelerating factors include the competence and commitment of principals and teachers, as well as good collaboration between internal and external stakeholders. The implications of these findings are the importance of improving the competence of principals and teachers in managing curriculum change, as well as the need to build effective communication between all relevant parties to accelerate the change process. This can be used as a reference in developing a more responsive and sustainable curriculum in kindergartens, thereby supporting the improvement of the quality of education from an early age.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of decision-making and conflict management skills on the effectiveness of participatory leadership among female State Islamic Junior High School principals in one district in Indonesia with the highest proportion of female principals. The method used was quantitative, ex post facto, with 89 teachers from three Islamic schools as respondents, and the analysis was conducted using multiple regression. The research instrument showed very good validity (r = 0.464–0.952) and high reliability (α = 0.972–0.985). The results showed that decision-making skills had a significant effect on participatory leadership, contributing 82.74% (p < 0.001), while conflict management had a stronger influence, contributing 86.86% (p < 0.001). The two variables simultaneously explained 88.20% of the variation in participatory leadership (F = 322.04, p < 0.001), with conflict management being the dominant predictor (β = 0.64) compared to decision-making (β = 0.32). The implications of this study emphasize the importance of developing madrasah principal training programs that focus on improving conflict management and decision-making competencies, as well as integrating Islamic values, to support educational transformation in madrasas.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the implementation of the Joyful School Movements (GSM) in strengthening student well-being through school management processes. A qualitative case study was conducted in an elementary school, using in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis. Data analysis was conducted using an interactive model that included data reduction, data presentation, and the drawing and verification of conclusions. The results show that GSM is implemented through four interrelated stages: shared understanding, participatory planning, transformative implementation, and reflective evaluation. These stages foster a sense of psychological safety, increase student engagement, and promote a positive, collaborative school climate. This study proposes an integrative school well-being management model that links pedagogical practices with school governance structures to support sustainable educational transformation and prioritise student well-being. This study provides implications that implementing GSM through integrated stages can be an effective strategy in building school well-being. Educational institutions need to develop participatory and reflective practices that support psychological safety, increase student engagement, and strengthen a positive, collaborative, and sustainable school climate.

Abstract

This research aims to reconstruct the value of Ukhuwah Islamiyah as a cultural system in Islamic organizations, grounded in the local values of Islamic boarding schools through the Panca Jiwa Pondok framework. Islamic organizations, especially pesantren, face challenges in aligning traditional values with contemporary organizational practices. A systematic review using the PICOS approach was conducted, analyzing 23 quantitative studies retrieved from Scopus and Google Scholar. The findings reveal four key dimensions of Ukhuwah Islamiyah in organizational settings: spiritual bonding, collective empathy, relational leadership, and deliberation. These dimensions significantly enhance organizational commitment, job satisfaction, loyalty, and Islamic performance across pesantren, madrasah, and Islamic higher education institutions. The study contributes by offering a novel conceptual model of Organizational Ukhuwah that integrates Panca Jiwa Pondok’s traditional values with contemporary organizational psychology. This model provides practical guidance for pesantren leaders and policymakers to foster inclusive decision-making, strengthen leadership training, and build a supportive climate based on spiritual and collective values. The research suggests further exploration of the practical implementation of this model in diverse Islamic institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how clinical supervision can be transformed from a bureaucratic burden into a reflective professional learning experience in schools. Clinical supervision, although designed to enhance teacher professionalism, is often perceived as evaluative and threatening, limiting reflective practice and instructional innovation. To address this, a phenomenological case study was conducted using in-depth interviews, observation, and document analysis. Data were analyzed using Miles and Huberman's model, including an iterative hermeneutic process of reduction, display, and interpretation. The findings revealed three main outcomes: first, teachers developed sustained professional reflectivity, critically assessing and improving their instructional practice; second, teacher identity and self-confidence were strengthened, fostering independent and bold pedagogical experimentation; and third, a professional learning community emerged, promoting collaborative reflection and culturally responsive practice. This study contributes theoretically by framing clinical supervision as a culturally reflective praxis and by providing strategies for integrating local cultural values into supervision. Future research should examine its longitudinal impact on teacher development and student outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of principals' academic supervision and teachers' professional competence on the quality of learning in elementary schools. Using a quantitative approach and a survey of 138 teachers, data were collected via a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using simple and multiple linear regression in SPSS version 29. The results showed that principals' academic supervision had a positive and significant effect on the quality of learning (r = 0.520; contribution 27%). Teachers' professional competence also had a positive and significant effect, with a correlation coefficient (r = 0.733) and a coefficient of determination (R² = 0.538), accounting for 53.8% of the variation in learning quality (p < 0.001). Together, academic supervision and teachers' professional competence explained 70% of the variation in learning quality (R² = 0.700; Adjusted R² = 0.695). This regression model was significant (F = 32.879; p < 0.001), indicating that both independent variables explained 70% of the variance in learning quality. These findings suggest that improving academic supervision and strengthening teachers' professional competencies can improve the quality of learning in elementary schools.
