Jurnal ini diberi nama LITERASI, nama tersebut dipilih sebagai upaya untuk tetap menjadikan keterampilan berbahasa sebagai landasan pengembangan ilmu pengetahuan. Seperti sebuah pernyataan “bahasa sebagai penghela ilmu pengetahuan”. Jurnal LITERASI diterbitkan oleh Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa, Sastra Indonesia dan Daerah dua kali dalam setahun. Terbitan pertama pada tahun berjalan adalah bulan Januari dan terbitan kedua adalah bulan Juli. Setiap kali terbit, jurnal ini memuat delapan artikel yang mengkaji dan membahasa masalah pendidikan bahasa dan sastra Indonesia. Jurnal ini memuat artikel hasil penelitian, gagasan konseptual, baik yang ditulis dalam bahasa Indonesia maupun bahasa asing. Selain secara online jurnal ini juga terbit secara cetak (ISSN 2086-4795). Diharapkan Jurnal ini mampu menjadi media informasi yang kredibel dan berdayaguna.

Abstract

The multicultural approach in Indonesian language learning plays a strategic role in strengthening cultural diversity amid the challenges of globalization and digitalization. This article aims to analyze the relevance and implementation of a multicultural approach in the context of Indonesia's diverse education system, with a focus on Indonesian language learning as a unifying tool for the nation. The research method used is a literature review, examining various theoretical and empirical sources related to multicultural education. The results indicate that the multicultural approach not only teaches language skills but also instills values of tolerance, inclusivity, and appreciation for cultural diversity. Its implementation includes integrating regional literary works, using diverse media, and employing collaborative and interactive learning methods. This approach also encourages critical reflection on social injustices and strengthens national identity. The conclusion of this article emphasizes that the multicultural approach in Indonesian language learning is an effective solution for fostering a tolerant, creative generation ready to face global dynamics while preserving national unity within the framework of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika.

Abstract

Speech skills are an important part of oral communication skills that are very much needed in the world of education, social, and professional. However, in practice, learning speech skills is still often done conventionally and is less engaging, so it is unable to encourage active participation and build students' self-confidence. This study aims to develop an innovative speech skills model design that can improve students' abilities in composing, delivering, and mastering speeches effectively. The approach used is research and development (R&D), with stages of needs analysis, conceptual model design, expert validation, and offering innovative model designs. This model is designed by integrating a communicative approach, project-based learning, and exploring the use of interactive digital media in the form of videos and other presentation support applications. Interviews involved 609 grade XI students from several high schools in Jakarta. The results of the interviews showed that this model is very much needed and feasible to be implemented. These findings are expected to be an alternative innovative design in learning speaking skills, especially speech, especially in the development of multimodal-based learning.

Abstract

Based on a needs analysis of BIPA learning in Hanoi Embassy several findings indicate the need for adjustments in the teaching techniques. Therefore, this article aims to present the implementation of lexical memory strategies in beginner BIPA classes at the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi. This research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The data is derived from observations of the BIPA learning process. The sources of data are beginner BIPA learners at the Indonesian Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam. Data collection techniques used are observation and note-taking during the lessons. The research findings indicate that lexical memory strategies are necessary to enhance the vocabulary of beginner BIPA learners. The steps in this teaching strategy are: (1) determining the learning theme, (2) classifying vocabulary for each session, (3) selecting and using supporting media, and (4) practice, evaluation, and enrichment. This strategy helps learners to expand their vocabulary. However, it is important to note that in second language learning, a needs analysis of the learners is crucial.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan peserta didik dalam menulis cerpen, khususnya dalam pemilihan diksi yang tepat dan mencerminkan nilai-nilai Profil Pelajar Pancasila. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ketepatan model Project Based Learning dengan metode Kunjung Karya dalam meningkatkan kemampuan menulis cerpen berbasis diksi serta dampaknya terhadap kemampuan berpikir kreatif peserta didik di fase F. Adapun pendekatan yang digunakan yaitu pendekatan campuran. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari dua kelas, yaitu kelas XI Kuliner sebagai kelas eksperimen dan XI ULP sebagai kelas kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya perbedaan hasil nilai rata-rata pada kelas eksperimen yaitu 86,88, sedangkan pada kelas kontrol sebesar 83,75. Uji normalitas menunjukkan data kelas eksperimen berdistribusi normal karena 0.140 > 0.05. Selanjutnya Uji homogenitas menunjukkan data 0.471< 0.05 artinya data homogen. Lalu dilakukan uji paired samples t-test menunjukkan peningkatan pada kelas eksperimen yaitu 0.028 < 0.05. Namun, pada hasil independent samples t-test menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan signifikan secara statistik antara kelas eksperimen dan kontrol 0.201 > 0.05. Meskipun demikian, selisih rata-rata 1.225 poin di kelas eksperimen menunjukkan bahwa penerapan PJBL dengan metode kunjung karya berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan penggunaan diksi peserta didik dalam penulisan cerpen.

Abstract

The morphological process of inflection and derivation is related to word formation. The process of word formation in language can be reflected in song lyrics. Songs are one of the most universal forms of human cultural expression. Therefore, this study aims to describe the forms of inflection and derivation and to describe the functions of inflection and derivation in song lyrics in the album Manusia by Tulus. This research, which is classified as qualitative descriptive, has research data in the form of song lyrics containing affixed words. The source of research data comes from ten songs in the album Manusia by Tulus. Data collection techniques were carried out in two ways, namely the free conversational listening technique and the note-taking technique. The research data were analyzed using the distribution method with the direct element sharing technique (BUL). The results of the study showed that the forms of inflection and derivation found in the song lyrics in the album Manusia by Tulus amounted to 15 affixes or affixes consisting of prefixes, infixes, suffixes, and confixes. Then in the inflectional form, nine affixes were found and in the derivation form, 14 affixes were found, each of which has a function. In this derivational form, there are 51 words that experience affixation, while in the inflectional form there are 33 words. So in the song lyrics in the album Manusia by Tulus, derivational affixes are more productive than inflectional affixes.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the meaning and values ​​of character education contained in the Kemanten Kemunjilan traditional advice in the Osing community in Banyuwangi. This tradition, which has been passed down from generation to generation, is considered a means to shape character through the symbols and philosophy contained in the traditional wedding procession. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with descriptive-analytical techniques. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, documentation, and literature studies. The research informants consisted of traditional leaders, traditional healers, bridal couples, and community leaders who understand Osing cultural values. The results of the study show that the traditional advice in Kemanten Kemunjilan contains important values, such as responsibility, cooperation, steadfastness, spirituality, and family welfare. Each symbol in the ritual procession, such as agricultural tools, kitchen utensils, and other offerings, contains deep meaning related to household life. This study concludes that the Kemanten Kemunjilan tradition not only preserves Osing culture, but also functions as a medium for character education that instills moral and ethical values ​​for the next generation, as well as strengthening family relationships in Osing society

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan negara yang kaya akan budaya, termasuk tradisi pernikahan adat yang sarat akan nilai-nilai simbolik dan filosofis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis makna simbolik dan pesan yang terkandung dalam tradisi Mappacci pada pernikahan adat Suku Bugis di Kelurahan Lanna, Kecamatan Parangloe, Kabupaten Gowa. Menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif, data penelitian diperoleh melalui observasi partisipatif, wawancara mendalam dengan tokoh adat dan partisipan kunci, serta dokumentasi. Kerangka teori semiotika Charles Sanders Peirce diterapkan untuk menginterpretasikan makna simbolik dari sepuluh perlengkapan utama dalam ritual Mappacci sebagai simbol, ikon, dan indeks. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa setiap elemen memiliki makna mendalam yang merepresentasikan nilai-nilai luhur budaya Bugis, seperti kehormatan, persatuan, kesinambungan hidup, kesejahteraan, kesucian, bimbingan, kebahagiaan, kesuburan, dan kesetiaan. Pesan-pesan ini diharapkan menjadi bekal bagi calon pengantin dalam membangun kehidupan pernikahan yang harmonis, sejahtera, dan langgeng. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa tradisi Mappacci di Kelurahan Lanna merupakan mekanisme kultural yang kaya akan simbol dan makna, berfungsi untuk mentransmisikan nilai-nilai penting dan mempersiapkan calon pengantin secara spiritual dan emosional dalam memasuki jenjang pernikahan.

Abstract

Abstract The objective of this study was to reveal the form, type, and function of dysphemia and the manifestation of gender bias in online news texts published by mass media. This study based on the theory of dysphemia by Warren (1992) and Allan & Burridge (2009), as well as the theory of gender injustice by Mansour Fakih (2007). The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative approach with content analysis as its technique. The data were taken from SindoNews online news in the period of December 2024 which relevant to the issue of women and gender violence. The results showed that there were various forms of dysphemia such as taboo words, vulgar expressions, to nicknames, and ridicule used in the context of women's news. Many of the dysphemia in this study functioned to emphasize extreme conditions, humiliate, and characterize certain social groups. In addition, forms of gender bias such as subordination, stereotyping, and marginalization were also found. Based on these findings, researchers developed teaching materials for writing news texts for Phase F that are oriented towards critical literacy and news writing in accordance with journalistic ethics. The results of validation by experts showed that the teaching materials were suitable for use with minor revisions. This research contributes to the development of social issue-based learning and gender sensitivity in Indonesian language education.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the symbolic meaning represented in traditional clothing used during the sedekah laut procession in Cilacap. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method. The research data is in the form of documentation and information from resource persons. The data analysis technique uses Roland Barthes’ semiotics approach. The results of the study show that the traditional clothes used during the sedekah laut procession can be grouped into four, namely maggalayudha clothes, putri domas clothes, traditional fisherman clothes, and woman clothes that are prepared to be used as offerings. All of these traditional clothes have denotative meanings and also connotative meanings which leads to the conclusion that the traditional clothes worn by the participants of the sedekah laut carnival are not just traditional clothes, but also a complex system of signs that contain various cultural, spiritual, and ideological meanings.

Abstract

This study discusses the portrait of Minangkabau matrilineality as represented in the novel Segala Yang Diisap Langit. The aim of this research is to describe the forms of Minangkabau matrilineal structure and its impacts as depicted in Segala Yang Diisap Langit, a novel by Pinto Anugrah. The study employs a descriptive-analytical method with literary anthropology and literary sociology approaches. The data consist of sentences in the novel that reflect aspects of Minangkabau matrilineality. The data source is the novel Segala Yang Diisap Langit by Pinto Anugrah. The data collection technique used is observation and note-taking. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques linked to the research topic. The results of the study reveal various forms of Minangkabau matrilineality in the novel, including daughters as heirs of the family lineage, the representation of rumah gadang as the center of family civilization, women as holders of social structures, and exogamous marriage practices. Additionally, the novel portrays challenges within the matrilineal system, such as conflicts of interest and clashes between tradition and modern values.
