Abstract

Abstract: The Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) disease is a contagious illness caused by the dengue virus and transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. The implementation of DHF surveillance at Jaya Mukti Public Health Center has not been effective. This study aims to examine the epidemiological surveillance of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) at Jaya Mukti Public Health Center for the period of 2023–2024. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive analytical approach through in-depth interviews, observations, and document reviews. The study involved six informants, including the head of the Jaya Mukti Public Health Center, surveillance officers, DHF program officers at Jaya Mukti Public Health Center, as well as supporting informants such as doctors, nurses, laboratory analysts, and DHF program officers from the Dumai City Health Office. This research was conducted from September to December 2024. The findings indicate that human resources at Jaya Mukti Public Health Center remain inadequate, with only one surveillance officer who is not an epidemiologist. The data analysis activities carried out were only descriptive analysis based on place (sub-district) but not yet by person, place and time. The analysis is only conducted based on location (sub-district) but does not comprehensively consider person, place, and time. Interpretation of data in the form of graphs (diagrams). Dissemination is carried out in workshops and cross-sector meetings, while through social media it is very minimal. It is recommended that Jaya Mukti Public Health Center take immediate measures to provide adequate training and resources, particularly for DHF surveillance. Additionally, supporting applications beyond the Early Warning and Response System (SKDR) should be introduced, and coordination among staff members should be enhanced in data collection process, data processing, data analysis, data interpretation and dissemination of information. Keywords: Epidemiological Surveillance, Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF), Data Collection Process.

Abstract

The low knowledge of pregnant women about pregnancy nutrition can have a negative impact on the health of the mother and fetus. Nutrition education is one of the potential promotive interventions to improve nutritional literacy of pregnant women, especially in rural areas such as Penampi Village Health Post, Bengkalis Regency. Objective: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of providing nutrition education on improving pregnant women's knowledge about nutritional status. Method: This study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The sample consisted of 15 pregnant women selected using a purposive sampling technique. The instrument used was a nutrition knowledge questionnaire. Data were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Paired Sample T-Test with a significance level of p < 0.05. Results: The results showed an increase in the average knowledge score from 59.93 (pre-test) to 82.60 (post-test). The statistical test showed a p value = 0.000, which means there was a significant difference between knowledge before and after education. The majority of pregnant women after education were categorized as having good knowledge (80%). Conclusion: Providing nutrition education has been proven effective in improving pregnant women's knowledge about nutritional status. This intervention is recommended as part of routine services at village health posts (Poskesdes) to increase nutritional awareness during pregnancy. Furthermore, it is recommended that Poskesdes develop interactive, culturally-based outreach methods, including the involvement of families and digital technology, to expand the reach and sustainability of nutrition education in the future. Keywords: Nutrition education, pregnant women, knowledge, nutritional status, Poskesdes

Abstract

The decision to undergo Total Knee Arthroplasty is not an easy one; patients need courage to undergo TKA. Chronic osteoarthritis complaints of more than grade 2 severely limit an individual's daily activities, and Joint arthroplasty is performed to enhance health-related quality of life in patients with end-stage hip or knee OA. Interestingly, no patient attained a higher level of physical activity 5 years post-surgery compared to their preoperative expectations. Possible reasons for this unmet expectation include other unrealistic expectations, deficiencies in lower extremity functional rehabilitation after TKA, and difficulties in accurately describing and reporting the amount of physical activity in daily life. The type of research used is quasi-experimental with a two-group pretest-posttest design. Sampling used an acidental This study involved 40 respondents as samples. Data analysis was conducted using Paired T-Test and Independent T-Test methods. The study results indicated that both groups had an impact on functional ability. Abstract

This study examines gender-based language attitudes toward the Sundanese language among millennial speakers in Bandung, focusing on three dimensions: language loyalty, language pride, and awareness of language norms. A mixed-method approach was employed, combining quantitative data from structured questionnaires with qualitative insights from open-ended interviews. The sample consisted of male and female millennials aged 28–40. Results indicate that both male (82.40%) and female (81.09%) respondents demonstrate strong positive attitudes toward language loyalty, particularly in acknowledging the importance of mastering and transmitting Sundanese. Language pride was also high among males (67%) and females (69.55%), although some respondents questioned the effectiveness of maintaining Sundanese in digital spaces. Awareness of language norms emerged as the most challenging dimension, with lower positive responses from females (41%) compared to males (59%). Female respondents often shifted to Indonesian to maintain politeness norms, while males cited fluency challenges and limited digital use. The findings suggest that sustaining Sundanese vitality requires strategies that address both affective and practical aspects of language use, incorporating gender-sensitive approaches, vocabulary and register mastery, and inclusive digital engagement. Keywords: language attitude, gender, Sundanese language, millenials, sociolinguistics

Abstract

Purworejo is one of the districts in Central Java that established the Malaria Center because it is classified as a malaria endemic area. In malaria control, Village Malaria Technicians (JMD) were formed in each malaria-infected area. Purworejo was supposed to obtain a malaria-free letter at the end of 2021, but cases suddenly spiked in July 2021 to 584 cases. Based on data from the malaria center, the highest cases of malaria were found in the Kaligesing area. The high number of malaria cases in Kaligesing is important to conduct a survey to find out the factors that affect the occurrence of malaria. This study aims to look at malaria risk factors in terms of malaria suitability habitat with measured parameters, namely water temperature, pH, turbidity, Total Dissolved Solid (TDS), and larval density. This research uses an ecological approach with a type of descriptive research using a survey method that can provide an overview of the object being studied. Based on the results of the tests that have been carried out, the highest water temperature was found in Jelok Village (27.7°C), the highest pH in Jelok Village (8.9), the highest level of turbidity was found in Jatirejo Village (8.4 NTU), the highest TDS was found in Kaliharjo Village (389.1 ppm), and the highest larval density was found in Sudorogo Village (4.8 larvae per volume of water). Keywords: Purworejo, Malaria, Habitat suitability, Ecology
