Abstract

The selling price of citronella oil is very low, namely 140,000 Rupiahs/liter and a low yield of 0.5-1.2% of the total refined raw materials are serious problems for citronella farmers in general and the Laiang Jaya farmer group, Solok, West Sumatra. In the distillation process, a large amount of liquid waste (hydrosol) is produced as much as 50%-60%. Hydrosol is an essential oil emulsion that is bound to water and still contains 0.02% essential oil. Insecticidal activity can be increased by adding plant material that has neurotoxic properties such as forest betel (Piper aduncum), which is easily found in forests and vacant lands in the surround of farmers' locations. Isolation of the active ingredients of forest betel is carried out with a distillation system so that it is not difficult for farmers to produce and surely increase their income through alternative use of distilled equipment when it useless. The purpose of this activity is to transfer knowledge related to the utilization of citronella waste into useful products such as raw materials for botanical insecticides. The methods used in this activity are education, workshops, training, mentoring and evaluation of activities. This activity has a positive impact on farmer groups. With this activity, farmer groups understand the importance of technology in product development, produced a prototype in the form of a botanical insecticide from citronella waste. As well as gaining knowledge related to branding and packaging of other citronella oil derivative products that are different from the usual ones.

Abstract

This activity aims to improve the understanding of farmers in making POCs and increase farmer productivity in processing waste into appropriate products for chili farming in Nagari Ampalu, Lareh Sago District, Halaban. Based on identifying the problems that have been carried out, we obtained several things that need to be improved on the chili farming system carried out by farmers. This activity is carried out through counseling and assistance in product manufacture and is equipped with direct implementation on chili farms owned by farmers in Nagari Ampalu. The result of the activity is that farmers who initially only used animal manure without processing have now made changes through this program. Farmer's cattle waste is processed into Liquid Organic Fertilizer (POC) using whey kefir as a source of microbial decomposers. The participation of farmers has resulted in an appropriate product, namely POC kefir, which can be applied directly to chili plants. This product can save the production cost of chili plants. This product can also be continuously produced with basic materials that are easily obtained, most of which are waste. So that the manufacture of this POC does not require high costs. After the implementation on agricultural land gives good results in chili production. POC has the advantage of being able to fertilize the soil because it provides complete nutrients and is easily absorbed by plants. This is what can encourage chili production to continue to increase. Implementing this activity has encouraged the spirit and increased farmers' productivity in processing waste into appropriate products.

Abstract

Fish cultivators generally experience difficulties providing quality artificial feed (pellets) due to a lack of knowledge and skills in processing technology and making alternative feeds. Besides that, the costs incurred for feed procurement are relatively large, reaching 70 - 80% of the total production costs. However, the provision of feed is often an obstacle because, in addition to the increasingly high price, the quality of available feed does not always match the nutritional needs needed by Fish. The provision of quality feed for intensively cultivated tilapia dramatically affects the resulting growth and productivity. The higher the quality of the feed, the production will also increase. One of the technologies that can be applied to overcome this problem is the manufacture of alternative formulated diets using local raw materials. The method used in this service activity is the transfer of knowledge presented in the socialization activities in the form of 1) introduction to the types of alternative fish feed ingredients sourced from the area, (2) preparation of artificial tilapia feed formulations, (3) manufacturing technology artificial feed (pellets) and 4) monitoring and assistance. The socialization was carried out in the form of a lecture and was followed by a question and answer session. The results of farmer activities recognize the types of local feed that can be used as fish feed, know the preparation of feed formulations, and alternative artificial feed manufacturing technologies. The knowledge and skills possessed by fish cultivators are expected to overcome the difficulties of fish farmers in providing feed so that fish production and cultivation business increase.

Abstract

This activity is motivated by concern for the facts of climate change occurring globally and regionally. In response to this, the Indonesian government has also taken a number of concrete steps in all aspects of climate change adaptation and mitigation, both at the local, regional, and national levels. One national program that directly touches local communities is the climate village program known as "PROKLIM." The city of Bukittinggi has responded actively to this national program and has received national awards for the achievements of its activities in two community groups. The purpose of community service activities in the Climate Village Program is to increase the group's capacity in processing household organic waste through the application of Maggot cultivation from black soldier fly (BSF). The main methods of implementing the activities are training, providing assistance and companiment the target group. The activity results showed that the target group had the knowledge and skills to cultivate BSF and produce larvae/maggots. The target group had been able to produce fish/livestock feed from the larvae and developed plans to use the business results for the commercial market. One thing that becomes the next challenge is how to build continuity of feed availability for the maggot caterpillars, especially from household organic food leftovers in the group members' environment. In conclusion, the application of organic waste processing technology with maggot caterpillar cultivation is very potential to overcome the problem of waste in their neighborhood so that it can then be applied more widely in the city of Bukittinggi, to be able to overcome the problem of urban organic waste.

Abstract

Senior High School 1 Batusangkar is a public school that has utilized technology in the implementation of school activities, starting from the presence of a website as an information room, using computers and the internet at school. In addition, this school is also equipped with four computer laboratories which are used for teaching rooms for students. However, in daily activities, the data generated by the school has not been integrated into an information system properly. This has become a momentum for the Department of Information Systems, UNAND in assisting schools in implementing, socializing and educating the school information system JIBAS (Inter-School Information Network) at Senior High School 1 Batusangkar as a tangible form of carrying out the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely community service. JIBAS is a school management information system that helps school operations ranging from academics, finance, libraries, reporting and teacher-student interactions. It is hoped that this system can help schools organize, manage and tidy up their data. Thus, this data becomes information that flows and is useful for various interested parties. The implementation method for this activity consists of three stages, namely preparation, implementation, and evaluation. After this community service activity was carried out, the school felt that this system was very good to be developed and used further for school activities as a whole. However, with the various other features that exist in JIBAS besides the Academic features, the school needs to study other features so that the effectiveness and efficiency presented by this system can be felt by the school..

Abstract

Incubation becomes a necessity to improve the performance of micro and small industries. Products from Nagari Sungai Kamuyang have the potential to be further developed. However, there is no incubation process that systematically and provides input in innovation strategies that can improve organizational performance. This activity aims to provide a platform for the industry to improve innovation strategies and organizational performance. In this activity, three small and micro industries become tenants or incubates the rendang business, the jengkol yam cracker business, and the various cake businesses. In addition, incubation was also carried out at Nagari Sungai Kamuyang Enterprises to improve organizational performance through the role of this institution to strengthen micro and small industries in Sungai Kamuyang Nagari. The incubation was carried out by Andalas University Management Study Program lecturers from various disciplines, namely financial management, entrepreneurship, marketing management, and human resource management. The activities obtained are for the economic empowerment of Nagari Sungai Kamu, which requires growing micro and small businesses. This activity is carried out by coaching and mentoring by lecturers directly with three business actors. The result is comprehensive input from various disciplines, and this is sustainable by providing a discussion process (coaching and mentoring). The three micro-businesses that become the incubation tenants have problems in standardization, marketing, product innovation, business strategy, and overall business management. The activities carried out by PSM have attempted to incubate by dividing lecturers with various tenant skills. It is hoped that there will be recommendations and other processes that can evaluate and follow up on these recommendations.
