Abstract

Worm infections caused by soil-transmitted helminths (STH) occur almost throughout the world, especially in countries with tropical climates. In terms of prevalence, Indonesia ranks third in cases of worm infections, the majority of which infect school-aged children in coastal areas. This activity was carried out for students at SD IT Al Marhamah Kampung Dalam in Padang Pariaman Regency by providing education about preventing soil-transmitted helminth (STH) infections using board game media. The activity aims to increase students' knowledge regarding soil transmitted helminth infections and their prevention. This activity uses a descriptive observational approach, with the target covering students in grades 3 to 6 at SD IT Al Marhamah. The activity was carried out on February 11, 2023, at SD IT Al Marhamah Padang Pariaman with board game media to educate school children about worm infections. Activities consist of licensing, implementation of service, and evaluation. In total, 94 SD IT Al Marhamah Padang Pariaman students participated in service activities. In terms of distribution, there were 39 men and 55 women. Before the extension activities, a pretest was carried out. Then, education was carried out and continued with a post-test to assess students' knowledge of STH infections. The research results showed that there was an increase in the level of knowledge before and after the intervention. It was concluded that the final results of the activity showed that the increase in the level of knowledge of SD IT Al Marhamah students regarding soil transmitted helminth infections after being given counseling using the board game method showed that the intervention was successful. The students who took part in the activity were satisfied with the extension activity and gave a positive response.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to enhance the knowledge of duck farmers in the Saririek Sepakat group located in Padang Ganting District, Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra Province. The main challenge faced by this group is the high cost of feed. The solution offered to address this issue is to improve farmers' knowledge through nutrition optimization by transferring knowledge related to duck nutrition and appropriate technology for the use of probiotics, as well as utilizing local feed ingredients to create affordable and efficient rations. The methods used in this community service activity include observation, counseling and training, and post-training assistance. The participants of the activity consist of 20 members of the Saririek Sepakat group. The counseling provided includes the transfer of knowledge regarding the nutritional needs of ducks, challenges, and solutions related to feed. Demonstrations/training were conducted on the use of Waretha probiotics and the preparation of duck rations from simple ingredients to create efficient and affordable feed. The indicator of increased knowledge among group members is shown by the results of observations on their enthusiasm and understanding of the materials and training provided. The outcome of the community service activity is that the knowledge of group members has successfully increased by optimizing nutritional factors to develop duck farming businesses. A ration combining commercial feed/concentrate, rice bran, and corn with the addition of probiotics has become a solution for affordable feed. The conclusion of the community service activity is the increased knowledge of group members, particularly regarding the optimization of nutritional factors for duck farming in the Saririek Sepakat group.

To create standardization, the government needs to set tariff rules for products provided by SMKs. Academic involvement is necessary for tariff determination according to applicable calculation rules. The method of this service activity is in the form of a mentoring workshop for 43 representatives of SMKN in West Sumatra. The West Sumatra Education Service held this activity at the ZHM Padang Hotel. In this activity, the Andalas University Accounting Lecturer was trusted as a resource person who accompanied and prepared the tariff calculation formula that SMKN will use in West Sumatra. The activity was carried out over two days, 7-8 November 2023. During the activity, the team from Andalas University guided the activity participants to calculate the rates for several products they had produced. Before the workshop, the team held an online meeting with participants to determine the data that needed to be prepared for calculating tariffs. Abstract

West Sumatra, one of the provinces in Indonesia, is renowned for its rich cultural heritage and beautiful natural landscapes. Additionally, its agricultural sector significantly contributes to the region's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), including in Solok Selatan Regency, which boasts the Seribu Rumah Gadang area as its tourism icon. Solok Selatan Regency is also home to Lake Bontak, the only lake in the region, located within the conservation area of Kerinci Seblat National Park (TNKS), one of the gateways for climbing Mount Kerinci. The Independent Conservation Group (KKM) Bangun Rejo has been managing agro-ecotourism by establishing a Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis) and farmer groups. These groups engage in integrated farming, agriculture, and livestock businesses with nature tourism at Lake Bontak. The empowerment of these community groups aims to develop sustainable agro-ecotourism in Solok Selatan Regency. One method used is Focus Group Discussions (FGD) to identify the potential for agro-ecotourism development at Lake Bontak. The outcomes of these activities include the agro-edutourism development concept, the creation of social media accounts for promotion, and the cleaning and installation of tracking paths and tourist activity guides in the Lake Bontak area. Additionally, there is an emphasis on educating the community about conducting tourism activities that prioritize biodiversity conservation within the conservation area to support ongoing environmental knowledge around Lake Bontak. It is hoped that this area will attract both local and international tourists, particularly students and researchers interested in exploring the flora and fauna potential through the agro-edutourism concept.
