Abstract

This study aims to examine the thoughts brought by the salaf scholars, Abū Ismā'īl 'Abdullāh Al-Ansārī Al-Harawī. This is based on his unique and controversial thoughts in his time so that he was often criticized by some people until he was put in prison, one of his controversial thoughts is about fana', from this fanā' theory Abū Ismā'īl 'Abdullāh's thoughts are seen that some people who hate will consider that Abū Ismā'īl 'Abdullāh is an extreme person who can mislead people. not only about fanā' which is labeled as a theory that can mislead people, It is not only fanā' that is labeled as a misleading theory, but also the theory of hope, which assumes that rajā' is the lowest maqām. This theory has been criticized by Ibn Qayyim al-Jauziyyah, but Ibn Qayyim al-Jauziyyah loved Abū Ismā'īl 'Abdullāh very much. The author uses qualitative literature research methods and interpretative analysis, the author seeks to collect data then analyze, filter and quote various data sources which are then interpreted in order to obtain a valid conclusion. The results of the study show that fear is a release from peace and security by knowing a news, what is meant by news (preaching) is knowing the news that comes from Allah, both in the form of promises and threats, while rajā' is a weak position for those who walk to Allah, because rajā' has two sides, namely, the side that describes resistance and the side that describes protest.

Abstract

Positivism as a philosophical movement has played a crucial role in the development of modern philosophy. Its existence marks a significant point in the discourse of philosophical scholarship. Essentially, this philosophical movement is quite old, known long before it was introduced by the figures discussed in this writing. The discussion in this writing aims to convey information about positivism in the style of Auguste Comte. In connection with the debates surrounding his thoughts, criticisms, or the search for positive aspects of positivism itself, it is important to note. Beyond that, an important aspect to be discussed is also related to the positive religion commonly known as "the humanity of religion." Of course, this 'religion' needs to be discussed further, considering that positivism highly values scientific knowledge and rejects anything unreal, such as metaphysics and beliefs that cannot be scientifically proven.. This research falls under the category of qualitative research, with its working instrument utilizing a descriptive-analytical method and involving a literature review. Auguste Comte, in the development of his thinking, is inseparable from his significant contribution to the advancement of positivism and sociology. Thus, he has had an impact on the fields of science and humanity. Positive religion, or the humanity of religion, understands that the highest morality in this new religion is love and devotion to humanity. From this understanding, the motto of positivism is born: "love as principle, order as basic, and progress as an end." Therefore, even though it is referred to as a religion at first glance, it is not detached from the foundational principles that Auguste Comte consistently upheld.

Abstract

Scholarly sanad is one of the concepts in the philosophy of education of pesantren salafiyah centrally and fundamentally. This research attempts to deconstructively examine this concept from the perspective of Pesantren Al-Haqiqi Sidosermo Surabaya, identified as pesantren salafiyah. It employs a qualitative method with a philosophical approach. Data were collected through interviews and participatory observation, involving caregivers, teachers, and students from the pesantren. The data was analyzed using Derrida’s deconstruction theory. The results reveal that the Pesantren Al-Haqiqi emphasizes the urgency of scholarly sanad in the teaching-learning process, believing it preserves the purity of Islamic teachings from Prophet Muhammad, ensures continuity of knowledge with the Prophet, and brings blessings. However, considering the human dimension in education, which includes subjective and contextual factors, this raises ambiguities and oddities in its meaning and assumptions. The same applies to the guarantee of knowledge continuity and blessings. Recognition of the plurality of knowledge sources, critical examination of traditional authorities, and the development of contextual and innovative skills emerge as reconstructive responses to these ambiguities and oddities. This strengthens the assumption that Islam is a doctrine for all times and places that has momentarily been shaken.

Abstract

Happiness is something that is commonly discussed in human life, because all humans definitely have an orientation in their lives, namely happiness. Talking about happiness, Allah SWT is very merciful and most merciful, Allah is so good that he gives various kinds of happiness to humans, namely spiritual and worldly happiness. that the happiness experienced and felt thanks to the body which is decided by the will and reason is still limited and does not bring true happiness. The focus of this research tries to compare Thomas Aquinas' views with the views of other figures regarding happiness. This research uses the type of library research. The data collection technique used is qualitative which tends to use analysis. Is the collection of data or materials related to the discussion themes and problems. The results of this research are that a comparison of views on happiness, one of which is the ancient Greek philosopher Epicurus, considers happiness as the achievement of pleasure and freedom from suffering. For Epicurus, happiness lies in living simply and free from unlimited desires, but in contrast to the view of Thomas Aquinas, he believes that true happiness does not only lie in physical pleasure, but also includes the spiritual dimension and relationship with God. For Thomas Aquinas, true happiness is eternal and lasting happiness.

Abstract

This research aims to find out more about the attributes of God and their division in terms of similarities and differences between Shia, Mu'tazilah and Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama'ah. These three schools recognize that God has properties based on God's revelation, such as qudrat, hayat, iradah, bashar, sama, qadim, wujud, and kalam. The division of God's attributes is based on reason. Although there are differences, they do not interfere with the basis of Islamic faith, such as Mu'tazilah rejecting the existence of God's attributes but recognizing the existence of God's Substance and its division. Shia divides the nature of God into two things: the nature of Tsubutiyah and Salbiya. Mu'tazilah has three properties of God's Substance, namely the Fi'li nature of God, the nature of God's Substance, and God's Body. Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama'ah has three attributes: obligatory nature, impossible nature, and Jaiz nature of God. The difference is used as knowledge and God's mercy and should not fade the unity of Islam.

Abstract

Eschatology is one of the most important discussions in the religious field. Eschatology discusses everything related to the state of humans on the last day such as; death, apocalypse, heaven, and hell. In Islam, eschatology is known as al-Ma'ād. Belief in al-Ma'ād is an obligation required by the shari’ah. This study aims to explain the concept of eschatology regarding hell (al-nār) and heaven (al-jannāt) in the book Daqā'iq al-Akhbār Fī Żikri al-Jannāt wa an-Nār by al-Imam Abd ar-Rahīm al-Qāḍi. The research method is descriptive-analytical with a theological approach. The finding of this research is that al-Qāḍī's explanation of the concepts of hell and heaven is narrated with interesting stories with his classification of the two even though there is an exclusive reasoning about the path of salvation in his book. This study still highlights the book in the chapter on hell and heaven only, so the potential for other researchers to explore the ideas in the book further is still wide open in the future.

Abstract

The differences in the foundational thoughts on humanity become a factor in the plurality of interpretations of humanism that seeks to interpret ideal humanity. Jean Paul Sartre proposed a typical existentialist humanism, which removes the essence from humanity. Humans are left without meaning with the freedom to dynamically determine their own essence. The problem is that humans are only viewed from the aspect of freedom alone, while the aspects of evolution and human improvement are ignored. Therefore, by using the evolutionary humanism perspective of Muhammad Iqbal, humans are allowed to have the freedom to determine their essence while simultaneously perfecting themselves towards the absolute source of existence in the universe. The purpose of this research is to respond to Sartre's freedom humanism using Iqbal's evolutionary humanism with a descriptive analysis approach. The research results show that Sartre's humanism places freedom as the goal, while Iqbal makes freedom an instrument to achieve perfection (absolute ego). Sartre's disregard for freedom nullifies morality and the values of civilization considered important by humanism. Therefore, evolution is a key element for freedom, humanism, and civilization that can contribute to the foundation of ethics and culture

Abstract

The life of modern society, which is currently marked by the development of technology and communication, has shown significant progress. However, it turns out that this progress has also given rise to quite complex problems. The pressures of life in this era have diminished individuals' ability to practice self-control, making them vulnerable to various mental and spiritual illnesses. By combining the principles of Stoicism philosophy and the teachings of the Quran, this research explores how self-control can serve as an effective solution to various life challenges nowadays. The method used is qualitative, and data from various literature sources were collected to analyze the principles of self-control from both perspectives. The findings indicate that self-control can be achieved by combining Stoic principles and Quranic teachings. Both provide effective guidance for managing emotions and directing behavior positively in the face of modern life's challenges. The integration of these perspectives offers a holistic and practical approach to enhancing self-control through the development of self-awareness, determination to accept Allah's decrees, thinking before acting, and exercising patience when facing trials in life.

Abstract

Pro-Environmental Self-Personality is a concept that refers to the level of concern and responsibility for the environment. Pro-environmental behavior is an individual action in an effort to protect the environment or minimize the impact of environmental damage, as well as improve environmental conditions. Factors influencing pro-environmental behavior include knowledge, attitudes, motivations, effectiveness of consumer perception, childhood experiences, knowledge and education, personality, locus control, and awareness of pro-environmental behavior. Pro-environmental approaches shape behaviors that aim to preserve nature, such as energy saving, mobility and transportation, waste prevention, recycling, consumerism, and behaviors aimed at preserving nature The formation of pro-environmental behavior must be done early so that it can become a habit in life. Without a pro-environmental approach, the formation of a good personality will be impossible. The moral principles of Sufism are one approach that can be used to form a good and pro-environment personality. In this article, we will elaborate on the formation of a pro-environment personality based on the moral principles of Sufism.

Abstract

In fact, the history of scientific progress and expansion is closely intertwined with periodic shifts in the structure of human existence. New findings serve as important building blocks for future discoveries. This causes history to play a big role in the creation of a discovery that is based on historical aspects at that time. However, the history of the evolution of science in the West and Islam is often contradicted, that the history of Western evolution has nothing to do with Islam and vice versa. Here, the researcher wants to explain the history of the evolution of science in the West and Islam and its reasoning. This study uses a library design. This study uses a descriptive analysis method, namely an orderly breakdown of the data that has been obtained, followed by understanding and explanation so that readers can understand it well. Research findings show that the evolution of science in the Western and Islamic worlds has a periodization from each era that is related to each other. 1) Ancient Greek Period (6 BC-6 AD), 2) Middle Ages (6-14 AD), 3) Islamic Period (6-12 AD 4) Renaissance Period (14-17 AD), 5) Modern Era (17 -19 AD), 6) Contemporary Era (20-21 AD). There are three types of scientific reasoning in the West: 1) Deductive (textual), 2) Inductive (contextual), 3) Abductive, while reasoning in the Islamic world there are three types: 1) Bayani (textual), 2) Burhani (contextual), 3) Irfani (intuition).
