Jambura Journal of Architecture (JJoA) is a peer reviewed journal published biannual (Juni and Desember) by Architecture Departement, Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Negeri Gorontalo. Abstract

ABSTRACT. Changes in land use and possible deviations as well as the presence of Manado City RTRW 2024–2042 are new spatial aspects of the strategic area of the city need to be studied further to support development planning. The aim of this study is to look at land use changes in 2014–2024 in Mapanget and Bunaken districts, which are strategic areas in Manado City. This study uses a spatial metric method, which is used to see the spatial fragmentation of how many areas of land are divided into smaller and separated parts. Variables used are NP, Patch Density, and SHDI . The outcome in the Mapanget district showed an increase in the value of NP and PD on housing land, indicating that the use of housing lands was increasingly spread from 2014 - 2024. On the other hand, in Bunaken district, NP values and PD increased on Settlements, Bushes and Road. SHDI in Mapanget district indicates a small increase in value and Bunaken district has a decrease, it indicates that the small level of development of land use in Mapanget and Bunaken districts..  Keywords: Fragmentasi spasial, Land use, Spatial Metric

Abstract

Building orientation is an important aspect of modern architectural design that affects thermal comfort and energy efficiency. This study aims to analyze the influence of various building orientations on solar exposure in buildings located in Palu, Indonesia, which is situated near the equator. The methods used include data collection through physical measurements of buildings, the creation of 3D models, and analysis using the Forma application to measure the duration and intensity of sunlight across different orientations. The research findings indicate that the east-west orientation has the highest potential for optimal sunlight exposure, with 18-22% of the area receiving more than nine hours of sunlight per day, while 57-66% of the other areas only receive 0-1 hour of solar exposure. This study also recommends further research that integrates solar radiation measurements to gain a deeper understanding of the impacts that building orientation can create. It is hoped that these findings will provide significant contributions to planners, developers, and stakeholders, particularly for the city of Palu and areas with similar characteristics.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mengevaluasi kondisi ruang terbuka di lingkungan pendidikan anak usia dini Menara Ilmu Limboto di Kabupaten Gorontalo, serta mengembangkan rekomendasi desain ramah anak untuk mendukung pertumbuhan dan perkembangan holistik anak usia dini. Mengacu pada indikator Ruang Ramah Anak antara lain lokasi yang strategis, fasilitas penunjang, aksesibilitas, keamanan dan kenyamanan, studi ini menyoroti bahwa pendidikan anak usia dini tidak hanya bertujuan untuk merangsang, membimbing dan mengasuh anak tetapi juga memberikan pengetahuan untuk mengoptimalkan aspek fisik, kognitif, emosional. dan sosial mereka. Melalui analisis mendalam terhadap kondisi ruang terbuka yang ada, diketahui bahwa meskipun luas ruang terbuka saat ini berpotensi, ada beberapa kekurangan yang perlu diperbaiki untuk menciptakan lingkungan yang lebih kondusif dan menginspirasi. konsep desain mengoptimalkan area ruang terbuka dengan mengintegrasikan area lapangan serbaguna dan area bermain, gazebo, taman vertikal, dan area parkir secara harmonis, dengan tujuan memberikan pengalaman interaktif dan edukasi yang lebih komprehensif bagi anak-anak. Rekomendasi praktis yang dihasilkan diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan perbaikan dari kondisi sebelumnya. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan rancangan strategis untuk pengembangan infrastruktur pendidikan yang inovatif dan berwawasan lingkungan sebagai landasan penting untuk mewujudkan generasi penerus yang unggul sehingga penelitian ini tidak hanya menawarkan solusi desain tetapi juga menekankan pentingnya peran ruang terbuka sebagai investasi jangka panjang dalam pengembangan pendidikan anak usia dini yang berkualitas di sekolah. Kata kunci: Ruang terbuka; Taman ramah anak; Sekolah anak usia dini

Abstract

Desa Lunguto, Kecamatan Paleleh Barat, Kabupaten Buol, Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah memiliki sejarah panjang sebagai komunitas nelayan. Nelayan di desa ini telah lama bergantung pada hasil laut sebagai sumber utama mata pencaharian mereka, sehingga keberadaan mereka sangat penting bagi ekonomi desa dan wilayah sekitarnya. Seiring dengan perkembangan ekonomi dan perubahan sosial, kampung nelayan di Desa Lunguto menghadapi persoalan dalam hal ketersediaan infrastruktur yang layak dan perubahan perilaku sosial, oleh karena itu perlu penanganan melalui Penataan Kampung Nelayan di Desa Lunguto, Kabupaten Buol dengan Pendekatan Arsitektur Perilaku. Pendekatan Arsitektur Perilaku diterapkan untuk menyesuaikan dengan kebiasaan dan kebutuhan nelayan dalam penataan kampung nelayan di Desa Lunguto. Tujuan kegiatan penataan Kampung nelayan di Desa Lunguto adalah menciptakan kembali sebuah lingkungan permukiman layak huni dan dapat meningkatkan kualitas hidup masyarakat di Desa Lunguto khususnya masyarakat nelayan, melalui pembangunan dan peningkatan infrastruktur dengan sasaran mengidentifikasi, menganalisis potensi dan persoalan serta perilaku masyarakat nelayan di Desa Lunguto. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode kualitatif dan kuantitatif, kedua metode tersebut merupakan cara untuk mendapatkan data dan informasi yang selanjutnya akan di analisis berdasarkan temuan permasalahan yang dilakukan setelah observasi lapangan menyangkut data fisik dan nonfisik dan penggalian interpretasi. Hasil desain master plan dan desain penataan kawasan permukiman kampung nelayan Desa Lunguto meliputi kawasan hunian baru dan peningkatan kualitas kawasan sebagai pendukung peningkatan ekonomi dan kesejahteraan masyarakat Desa Lunguto.

Abstract

Mosque design needs to pay attention to aspects of accessibility and visuality because both aspects affect the physical comfort and spiritual experience of worshipers. This research aims to analyze the spatial visibility and connectedness of spaces in Keloran Mosque, Bugisan, through the Space Syntax approach. The research method involved field observation and floor plan analysis, while the spatial data was processed using Depthmap software to produce spatial integration and isovist maps. Results show that areas with high levels of spatial connectivity support smooth movement and easy access to key spaces such as prayer and ablution areas. Conversely, some zones with low visibility can reduce visual comfort and spiritual engagement, particularly in areas far from the worship center. The shape of the dome roof contributes positively to the visual focus towards the mihrab. This research proves that the Space Syntax method is effective in understanding spatial dynamics in mosque design. Based on the findings, it is recommended that mosque designs pay more attention to visibility and spatial layout in order to improve accessibility for all worshipers, including people with disabilities

Abstract

Hamid Shirvani emphasizes the importance of combining contemporary elements with local cultural and historical heritage in architectural design. This is reflected in his work, which often combines modern ideas with traditional elements, creating a harmony between the past and the present in building design. In addition, Shirvani also highlights the importance of social, cultural and economic context in sustainable urban design. Francis D.K. Ching in a famous theory states that it is important to understand the basic principles of formation, space and sequence in architectural design. Through his in-depth approach to the basic elements of architecture, Ching championed concepts such as scale, proportion, negative and positive space, and spatial organization in architectural design. He also highlighted the importance of the use of form, texture and lighting in creating meaningful and functional buildings. This research aims to analyze the visual character of building facades that function as 3 and 4 Star Hotels in the Business on Boulevard area of Manado City, which is located between the junction of Taman/Patung Piere Tendean and Sario Bridge/River. The hotels are Lion hotel, Quality hotel, Big Fish hotel, Four Points hotel and Ibis hotel. This research will focus on the components and architectural composition of the facade design that reflects the desired identity, image and visual character to meet operational needs as a hotel and at the same time attract market interest in the context of business in the area. The research method used is qualitative by involving direct observation of Hotel buildings that are already operating in the research location, as well as interviews with industry players and related stakeholders. From the research results, it was found that Hamid Shirvani's Theory and the rules of D.K. Ching were clearly visualized in the 5 research objects. Most of the components and compositions have been applied to the building facade elements. In general, it can be concluded that the visual character of the building facade in the 5 hotels that became the research sample is very strong and dominantly applies the theory of Hamid Shirvani and D.K. Ching both from the component elements and the composition elements.  Keywords: building, facade, visual character

Abstract

Indonesia, as the country with the largest Muslim population globally, places a significant emphasis on the mosque as a central hub for religious, educational, and social activities. The acoustic performance of mosque interiors is a critical component of spatial quality, particularly to ensure speech intelligibility during sermons (khutbah), Qur’anic recitations, and other verbal religious practices. This study aims to evaluate the acoustic characteristics of Masjid Raya Pinrang’s main prayer hall by assessing three key parameters: sound pressure level (SPL), background noise level, and reverberation time (RT60). A descriptive quantitative approach was adopted. Field measurements were conducted using a Sound Level Meter 25TK (SLM25TK), connected to the Noise Logger Communication Tool (NLCT) for data recording and analysis. SPL measurements were taken during Friday sermons, while noise levels were recorded over three days (Monday, Friday, Sunday) at five different time intervals to capture varying environmental conditions. Reverberation time was calculated using the Sabine equation, based on the room’s volume and surface absorption values. The results indicate that the average SPL ranged between 98.98 and 100.48 dB, exceeding the acoustic comfort range for worship spaces. Ambient noise levels also surpassed the permissible thresholds outlined in the Indonesian Ministry of Environment Decree No. 48/1996. Furthermore, RT60 values at 500 Hz and 1000 Hz were recorded at 4.71 and 4.67 seconds, respectively, significantly exceeding the ideal range for speech-dominant functions. These findings suggest a need for targeted acoustic interventions to enhance speech clarity and overall auditory comfort within the prayer space.
