Abstract

The School Health Program (UKS) aims to improve the health status of students through the Trias UKS, which includes health education, health services, and fostering a healthy school environment. However, the implementation of UKS has not been optimal in many schools, including Muhammadiyah 1 Elementary School in Malang, which faces challenges such as students' lack of knowledge about balanced nutrition, Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS), and mental health. This community service activity included planning, implementation, and evaluation phases. The program was conducted with 19 fourth-grade students at Muhammadiyah 1 Elementary School in Malang through lectures, demonstrations, and training methods. Interventions included education on balanced nutrition, PHBS, handling bullying, first aid training, and developing a healthy environment through TOGA (medicinal plants) cultivation. Evaluations were conducted to assess changes in students' knowledge, attitudes, and behavior. There was a significant increase in students' knowledge, with the percentage of students demonstrating good knowledge rising from 76% to 95% after the intervention. A total of 85% of students were able to independently practice handwashing and toothbrushing, and 60% could demonstrate first aid. High participation rates were observed in physical exercise and TOGA cultivation activities. The use of lecture methods supported by PowerPoint presentations and demonstrations contributed to positive changes in students' healthy living behaviors. The development program of UKS based on the Healthy School Movement (GSS) effectively improved students' knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors related to health. This model can be adopted to optimize UKS in schools through structured, interactive, and integrated health education methods to create a sustainable healthy school environment that supports the optimization of students' health and education quality.

Abstract

Stunting is one of the main health problems in Indonesia, with a high prevalence, especially in rural areas. Stunting can hinder children's physical growth and cognitive development, which has implications for their health. Factors such as maternal education level, family income level, and feeding practices in toddlers are known to have a significant relationship with the incidence of stunting. Therefore, this service activity is carried out to increase the knowledge of mothers under five related to balanced nutrition based on local food as stunting prevention. The method used in the service is counseling and demonstration of making additional food for toddlers with the use of local food ingredients of moringa leaves. The participants of the activity were 21 mothers who have children under five and 7 pregnant women who are in 2 RWs in Sukamentri Village, Garut Kota District, Garut Regency. Result. There was an increase in the knowledge of mothers who have children under five related to balanced nutrition from local food sources with an average pre-test score of 65.8 to 82.3 for the average post-test score. Therefore, this activity was carried out to increase knowledge related to balanced nutrition in toddlers based on local food as stunting prevention in the form of feeding practices for toddlers with stunting incidents in Sukamentri Village, Garut Kota District, Garut Regency.

Abstract

Infant health in the early stages of life is greatly influenced by various factors, including proper monitoring of growth and development and providing optimal stimulation. One form of beneficial stimulation is baby massage, which has been proven to help the physical and emotional development of infants. However, the limited knowledge and skills of Posyandu cadres often become an obstacle in providing maximum service. This article examines the implementation of an Augmented Reality (AR)-based application to support Posyandu cadres in guiding infant massage and monitoring infant growth and development at Posyandu. The results of the study indicate that the AR application can improve cadres' knowledge and skills in performing infant massage, as well as help parents understand child growth better. This article also provides recommendations regarding the implementation of the AR application as a technological innovation in Posyandu services.

Abstract

The high prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) leads to serious complications, including dry skin and diabetic foot wounds, which may progress to infection, ulcers, amputation, or even death if not properly managed. Diabetic foot wounds are the most common complications among DM patients, with a prevalence of 75%–90%. To address this issue, a community service program titled "Application of Olive Oil in Maintaining Healthy Skin in Diabetes Mellitus Patients" was conducted in December 2024 at RW 12, Bangetayu Kulon Village. The program aimed to improve knowledge and commitment among health cadres and residents in preventing and managing skin problems associated with DM. A total of 20 participants, including residents and health cadres, attended the event. It began with an assessment of the community’s limited knowledge about DM risks and diabetic foot wound care. The demographic analysis revealed that most participants were elderly (95.7%), predominantly male (52.2%), with high school education, and primarily engaged in entrepreneurial activities. Statistical analysis showed that education significantly improved participants’ understanding and commitment to diabetic foot skin care, with a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.005). These findings demonstrate that targeted educational interventions effectively enhance awareness and skin care practices among DM patients. The success of this program highlights the potential for replicating similar initiatives in other communities to reduce DM-related complications and improve patient outcomes.

Abstract

The Cempakaan Dukuh farmer group in Dukuh Mencek Village, Sukorambi District, Jember Regency, actively cultivates various vegetables. Currently, this farmer group lacks knowledge and skills in processing technology for vegetable-based food products. As a result, their vegetable harvests are mainly sold in fresh form, either directly to consumers or through intermediaries, which keeps their selling prices low. To address this issue, a training program was implemented to enhance the farmers' understanding and skills in processing technology, specifically focusing on creating water spinach jerky and spinach sticks. The training involved several steps: organizing coordination meetings to prepare for the activities, delivering the training materials, facilitating discussions, and providing hands-on practice. Finally, the outcomes of the service were evaluated and reviewed. The results of the training showed that the farmer group was enthusiastic about participating in the community service activities. To evaluate their progress, pre-test and post-test assessments were conducted. The pre-test scores for each question were 56, 32, 54, 48, 40, and 45, while the post-test scores were 87, 83, 86, 80, 75, and 73. The increase in post-test scores indicates a significant improvement in the farmers' ability to utilize technology for processing water spinach jerky and spinach sticks.

Abstract

Computerized embroidery sewing is an innovation that's relatively easy to learn and produces embroidered objects on fabric quickly and in a marketable way. This machine is ideal for seniors who still want to be productive and increase their income in their later years without having to spend too much time and effort learning to use it. Consequently, a community of seniors around Kranggan, Bekasi, who were interested in computerized embroidery sewing training was chosen. Before the training, participants were given a questionnaire to assess their prior knowledge of computerized embroidery techniques on fabric. It turned out that almost all participants had never used such a machine. As a result, during the training, when they gained new knowledge about using the embroidery machine, they were very enthusiastic about practicing and even suggested having more training sessions in the future to enhance their skills in embroidering prayer cloths and bags

The analysis results showed a significant increase in teacher competence, with an average score increasing from 52,92 to 93,12, indicating an increase in ability of 75,98%. The majority of participants achieved the expected level of competency in curriculum design. The success of this program is not only measured by the increase in scores, but also by the practical ability of participants to develop a curriculum that is in line with the characteristics of PAUD institutions.
