Abstract

Women's reproductive health is a healthy state both physically, mentally, and socially. One of the reproductive health problems experienced by many women in Indonesia is breast cancer. Breast cancer is a cause of death for women with a relatively high incidence rate in Indonesia when compared to other cancer cases. As many as 70% of breast cancer cases are only detected when they have reached an advanced stage, making treatment difficult. This community service activity aims to provide education regarding early detection efforts through breast self-examination (SADARI) and health checks which are risk factors for breast cancer. This activity uses the service learning (SL) method which is integrated into a research program regarding the analysis of reproductive health problems for women of childbearing age (WUS) in the workplace. This activity was carried out at the Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) Jatinangor campus, which was attended by 5 female education staff. The results of the health examination showed that all participants had a normal body mass index (BMI) ranging from 21.2 to 24.4. The results of the vital signs examination showed that 1 participant had hypertension, 1 person had hypotension and 3 others were within normal limits. All participants can practice the awareness steps properly and correctly. Based on participants' suggestions and input, it is necessary to carry out regular reproductive health education activities with various topics so that women's reproductive health can be monitored well, especially for working women who spend most of their time at work.

Abstract

Pharmacy is part of the health service that is oriented towards patient service, providing quality and affordable medicines for all levels of society. Patients deserve to receive comprehensive clinical pharmacy services, one of which is through dispensing sterile preparations. To avoid contamination when mixing sterile preparations, personnel need to apply aseptic techniques. Therefore, pharmacists need to receive regular training to improve their knowledge and skills in ensuring the quality of service. Thus, patient safety can be guaranteed. The purpose of this community service is to improve pharmacists’ skills in carrying out aseptic techniques for dispensing sterile preparations at Efarina Hospital, Pangkalan Kerinci. This training consists of several series including presentation through lectures, giving modules to participants, showing videos and practice, learning evaluation through pre-tests and post-tests, and training evaluation. There was an increase in the average pre-test score of 62.2 and the average post-test score of 81.4. The evaluation of the activity received a good response from the participants and they hoped that there would be a continuation of the training program with various topics. Community service was carried out well and proven effective in increasing the knowledge of pharmacists at Efarina Hospital, Pangkalan Kerinci regarding aseptic dispensing techniques for sterile preparations.

Abstract

Ternate City is the economic and trade center in North Maluku, where the agricultural sector ranked third as the main field of community employment after the service sector and processing industry. One of the community groups serving as a gathering place for breeders in Ternate is Lembaga Mitra Peternakan (LMP) located in Sasa and Jambula Villages. The problems faced by goat breeders in LMP include: the difficulty of getting superior males to mate with females, low livestock productivity due to inbreeding, the difficulty of getting continuous forage so that goats only fed tofu dregs waste, and the accumulation of manure around the pen which can cause odors and has an impact on livestock health. Based on the farmer's problem description, it was agreed that a community service activity would be held with the aim of providing guidance to livestock groups in goat cultivation through the application of appropriate technology at the LMP in Ternate city. The stages included surveys and outreach, community education, demonstrations and training, as well as monitoring and evaluation. All activities were attended by around 15 breeders. Farmers actively participated in VBC practices, silage feed processing and organic fertilizer. The silage and organic fertilizer produced can also be used by farmers. Farmers were able to manage the VBC concept, making silage and organic fertilizer independently. After the training activities, there was an increase in the knowledge and skills of breeders in practicing and applying appropriate technology in goat cultivation.

Abstract

Recording of livestock reproduction is necessary for farmers to improve reproductive aspects of their animals. A common issue faced by beef cattle farmers is their limited knowledge; they often rely on experience without a solid foundation of technical knowledge. The goal of the program is to enhance the knowledge of smallholder farmers about reproductive management, thereby increasing the productivity of beef cattle. The target audience for this activity is the members of the farming community in Teluk Kampe Village. The methods used in this service program include extension and training on reproductive management and the application of recording. The outcomes of this service activity are reflected in the increased knowledge of farmers in Teluk Kampe Village and their motivation to improve the reproductive management of their beef cattle, based on the analysis of pre-test and post-test results. The application of reproductive function improvement technologies for beef cattle is expected to help boost productivity and improve the economic situation of smallholder farmers if implemented properly.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is one of the chronic diseases with an increasing incidence every year. The increasing number of people with Diabetes Mellitus can be influenced by several factors, such as the economy, lack of knowledge and unhealthy lifestyle, age, and also overweight. Cases of diabetes mellitus in Sukabumi City have increased, including in Lembursitu (9.8%). The solution offered is to maintain health through health education and "foot exercise". Community service is carried out in the work area of the Lembursitu Health Center. The goal of this activity is to improve the health of the elderly by applying a healthy lifestyle and Foot Exercise in daily life. Community Service consists of 2 stages. The first stage is planning and the second stage is implementation. At this stage, conducting health screening and education about healthy lifestyles and foot exercise with simulations and demonstrations. Community service has an impact on partners. The target is the elderly with diabetes mellitus. The increase in knowledge that occurs in the elderly and the prevention of complications has an impact on the health condition. Diabetes mellitus sufferers apply a healthy lifestyle in their lives so that there is an increase in health and quality of life. This also has an impact on the ability to meet daily needs. The follow-up plan is assistance in the implementation of foot exercises so that they can be carried out routinely at least 2 times a week, and involves cadres to make a routine schedule in implementing efforts to prevent complications.

Abstract

Gerakan Masyarakat Sehat Pangan Aman (Germas SAPA) and Waspada Bahan Kimia Obat in traditional medicines (BKO) are initiatives aimed at enhancing public health degrees in Indonesia. Baturaja Village, located in Way Lima, Pesawaran Regency, is one of the villages that had not yet been exposed to information about these programs. A team of lecturers from the University of Lampung, in collaboration with Balai Besar Pengawan Obat dan Makanan (BBPOM) in Bandar Lampung, conducted a public outreach session for the residents of Baturaja Village. This activity involved an educational session attended by 28 participants, including members of the PKK members and the general public. The session included educational presentations, the distribution of pocketbooks, and questions and answers. Pre- and post-test results on Germas SAPA and BKO awareness showed improved knowledge, with pre-test averages of 8.21 and 8.42, and post-test averages of 9.17 and 9.11. Positive responses were observed from the participants, as demonstrated by their enthusiastic inquiries related to food safety, herbal medicines, and general health. This initiative aims to enhance public understanding of food safety and traditional remedies, with PKK members expected to share this information within the community.

Abstract

Early age is a golden age, an opportunity and a critical period for children's development. Early stimulation is very necessary by children as a stimulus for aspects of their development. The role of posyandu cadres is needed in conducting counseling on toddler parenting, stimulation, early detection of growth and development so that children grow healthy, active, intelligent and responsive. Community Service was held on Friday, August 30, 2024 at the LEM Hall of Karangtengah Village, Baturraden, Banyumas. This activity is the Training and Assistance for Stimulation of Toddler Development with Educational Media for Snake and Ladder Games for Posyandu Cadres in Karangtengah Village, Banyumas Regency, carried out by 3 lecturers, 3 students with lectures, discussions and practice methods so that they can provide developmental stimulation for toddlers. The target is Posyandu cadres in Karangtengah Village, Baturraden, totaling 30 people. The evaluation carried out was a question and answer and posttest which was carried out after the activity was completed. Overview of the implementation: opening, remarks by the midwife of Karangtengah Village, remarks by the head of the Community Service team, pretest, material delivery, discussion, rest, practice of Stimulation of Toddler Development with Educational Media of Snake and Ladder Games, posttests, closing. The results of the training were obtained by cadres before participating in the training was good knowledge of 16.7%, while for sufficient knowledge of 70% and lack of 13.3%. The knowledge of cadres after participating in the training is good knowledge of 56.7% and 43.3% have sufficient knowledge.

Abstract

This community partnership program is the Empowerment of the "Baraka" Group with Physical Disabilities through Innovation in Developing Recycled Tire Products to Support the Business Reputation of Disabled Communities. The "Baraka" Group of People with Physical Disabilities is a group that runs a business recycling used tires into creative seating and table products. However, the group faces several challenges, including difficulties in production, such as a lack of ability to control the quality of the products, limited innovation in the products they develop, and lengthy production times. Socially, the group also faces a lack of motivation to create economic independence and has limited ability in branding their products. The implementation method involves mapping the necessary activities to address the challenges in these areas. The results of the program show that, in terms of production, the products produced by the group have started to meet quality and quantity standards. The product range has expanded, with chairs now available in small and large sizes, whereas previously, only medium sizes were available. Additionally, the group introduced table variants. Over the past week, the group was able to produce 10 products, indicating that on average, they could produce around 40 products in a month. Socially, awareness of economic independence has increased, and the group now has a logo and tagline to strengthen the reputation of their products. In terms of marketing, over the past week, the group received orders for 10 products, which suggests they could meet demand for around 40 products per month.

Abstract

Improving community welfare can be done by providing skills training for the community and encouraging entrepreneurial spirit. Training in making soap with coconut oil was conducted in Kalasey II Village, Mandolang District. Minahasa is known as one of the coconut producers. Several UMKM in Minahasa have processed coconuts into pure coconut oil. The people of Kalasey II Village who have home businesses in the form of UMKM are still very few. The woman who are mostly active at home can be encouraged to use their free time to create entrepreneurship so that they can get additional income. The purpose of implementing this activity is to provide knowledge and motivation to become entrepreneurs for the community through making soap to increase family income. Training activities are carried out by explaining the materials and tools used, and a demonstration of making soap to packaging. The soap produced can be used for family needs and as a business opportunity to make souvenirs from soap.

Abstract

80% of the population of Situbondo Regency Coastal Village work as fishermen. Fluctuating fishing results cause businesses to be processed so that they can be stored to fill the void of fishing results and improve the community's economy. The potential processed fish products at Bahari Beach are processed into fish crackers by several micro business groups consisting of residents, but unfortunately, the process of making crackers in all micro business centers still does not meet the principles of good occupational safety and health and does not wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) when producing. This research aims to improve knowledge related to occupational safety and health in all groups of micro-business centers in the Pesisir Village area. The training method includes coordination with target partners, preparing the needs of tools and materials during the program, and preparing learning modules that will be used as a reference in program implementation. The work stage is filled with materials and demonstrations. Finally, the evaluation stage. The training participants consisted of 35 people consisting of residents of the Coastal Village of Besuki District, Situbondo Regency. The results showed that there was an increase in the results of the questionnaire from the pre-test and post-test after the training was given. Where the results of the training participants were very enthusiastic and able to practice making rengginang and shredded fish by the principles of occupational safety and health.
