Abstract

Self-diagnosis and self-medication are some of the global health phenomena. Inappropriate behavior may lead to harmful effects such as misdiagnosis, antibiotic resistance, etc. Determinant factors such as age, gender, ownership of health insurance, and others are influencing self-medication. This study aims to find the prevalence of self-diagnosis and self-medication and the determinant factors influencing self-medication in university students. This study used a cross-sectional method conducted in April 2021 online. Using consecutive non-probability sampling, the research sample successfully obtained was 184 medical and non-medical faculty students. The research data were analyzed in univariate and bivariate. The prevalence of self-diagnosis and self-medication was 64.1% and 46.7% in the medical faculty-student group, then 63.0% and 43.5% in the non-medical faculty-student group. Duration of illness in the medical faculty-student group, self-diagnosis, and support from other persons in both groups of respondents significantly correlated with self-medication (p-value

Abstract

Hazardous and Toxic Material Waste is the residue of a business and service facility activity containing B3. Hazardous and toxic waste (B3) at the Puskesmas has excellent potential to pollute the environment, cause accidents, and endanger public health due to viruses and bacteria that are the source of disease transmission; for this reason, this research is essential to do as an illustration of B3 waste management which has not been optimal at Health Centre in Bandar Lampung which has never been done before. The results of the research on the B3 solid waste management process at the Bandar Lampung City Health Center facilities with the same standards did not meet the technical requirements and the utilization of the facilities; the process of transporting Puskesmas waste was transported entirely to RSUD Dr. A. Dadi Tjokrodipo Bandar Lampung City. A destruction company with a B3 waste processing operational legality permit carries out the processing, burial, and stockpiling operations. Recommendations are needed to provide policies for the Forestry Environment Service and Bandar Lampung City Health Office related to solid medical waste management with the fulfillment of waste management facilities/infrastructure and the completion of an incinerator with permission from PT. Wastec International, PT. Tenang Jaya Sejahtera, and PT. Pengolahan Limbah Industri Bekasi . In addition, it is necessary to supervise and monitor the processing of Puskesmas waste in the destruction company.

Abstract

Nurses are a milestone in achieving quality and professional health services. Since Covid-19 was declared a global pandemic, the Mangusada Hospital formed a special care unit, the Covid-19 Isolation Room. Hospitals, through line managers, are required to be able to prepare service management to comply with national health protocol standards while still prioritizing health and safety in the prevention and control of Covid-19 transmission. The purpose of this study was to describe the experience of the head of the room in managing inpatient rooms during the Covid-19 pandemic at the Mangusada Hospital in 2021. This research used a qualitative and phenomenological approach with data collection methods using in-depth interview techniques on March 1- April 30, 2021, at the Mangusada Hospital. Determination of the sampling technique using purposive sampling with a sample of 7 main participants and six triangulation participants. Data analysis in this study was carried out using the method of Colaizzi. The study resulted in 5 themes, namely, 1) changes in the function and management of the room, 2) anxiety, 3) adequate support, 4) limited facilities and infrastructure, and 5) hope that the pandemic will end soon. Based on the research results, the head of the room needs to understand and carry out management functions to support service in the inpatient room, which is his responsibility and expected to improve planning and human resources in the ward during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The high stunting in toddlers aged 6-24 months is due to low access to quality drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene. Therefore, the risk of toddlers suffering from infectious diseases is still high, which disrupts the intake of nutrients needed for toddler growth. North Lampung Regency is one of the districts with a priority for tackling stunting because it still has a stunting prevalence of 24.7%. This study aims to determine risk factors associated with stunting, using a case-control design, a total sample of 768 (384 cases, 384 controls) toddlers 6-24 months in 39 villages from eight sub-districts. The study found that a history of exclusive breastfeeding is associated with stunting, OR=1,90 (95%CI: 1,36-2,65. History of sick children is related to the stunting at risk with OR=2,48 (95%CI: 1,70-3,62). Family income

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever is a vector-based disease still a significant problem in Indonesia. For two years, the Kebayoran Lama Selatan Sub-District has been in the first position of cases in the Kebayoran Lama District. This study aims to find out the distribution of dengue incidence based on individual characteristics (age, sex, education, knowledge, attitudes) and environmental factors (presence of mosquito larvae, water reservoirs (TPA), lighting, humidity, presence of wire netting, and presence of larvae-eating fish. This research is descriptive with a research design case study in June 2022. The population was DHF sufferers in 2020-2021. The sampling technique uses the technique of total sampling. Data collection was carried out through interviews, observation, and direct measurements. The results were 52.6% of patients with female sex, 52.6% of patients with an age range ≥15, 36.8% of patients with elementary school education, 73.7% had a good level of knowledge, 78.9% had a good attitude, 52.6% found mosquito larvae, 89.5% did not close the water reservoir, 57.9% did not have wire mesh in the ventilation, 100% did not have larvae-eating fish, 52.6% lighting did not meet the requirements, and 100% humidity did not meet the criteria. Based on the results of the study, it is recommended to routinely drain the TPA once a week, close the TPA both inside and outside the house, install wire mesh on the ventilation, use a humidifier to regulate humidity, install glass tiles, and maintain environmental cleanliness as a form of prevention of DHF.

Abstract

The problems experienced by adolescents have an impact on their growth and development and their future. One of the main factors behind this problem is the exposure to information about adolescent reproductive health. This study aims to describe adolescent exposure to information on reproductive health. This type of research is observational with a cross-sectional study design. The sample in this study was 169 unmarried high school students aged 15–20 years who live in Banyumas Regency, totaling 169 people. Most adolescents are female (78.7%), 17 years old (40.8%), and 16 years old (37.9%), live with their parents (95.9%), use social media to find information about adolescent reproductive health (67.5%), considered parents as a more trusted source of information (27.8%) and social media as a less trusted source of information (50.9%). Most adolescents have received counseling about adolescent reproductive health at school (84.6%), provided Youth Information Center and Counseling Program in their schools (36.1%), and never received information about Generation Planner (68%) and Youth Information Center and Counseling Program (58.6%). Adolescents have sufficient access to information on adolescent reproductive health. Still, not a few adolescents have not received information about programs related to Generation Planner and Youth Information Center and Counseling Program. Schools already provide information on adolescent reproductive health and sexuality. However, only a few adolescents receive information about family planning and contraception and are aware of a school's youth counseling and information center.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that has affected several countries, including Indonesia, and is experienced by some people can also be experienced by tuberculosis patients. Tuberculosis patients themselves are double affected because Covid-19 and tuberculosis both attack the lungs, and these conditions can cause anxiety impacts for tuberculosis patients because they are more susceptible to contracting. This study aimed to examine the relationship between psychological well-being, self-efficacy, and social support with anxiety in tuberculosis patients during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used is quantitative with linearity regression hypothesis analysis and respondents with the criteria of tuberculosis patients who were and still undergoing treatment during the Covid-19 pandemic, as many as 217 patients with a total of 121 male and 98 women respondents with an age range of 14 to 83 years. The study was conducted on some tuberculosis patients in Bandar Lampung. The results showed a relationship between psychological well-being, self-efficacy, and social support with anxiety in tuberculosis patients amid the Covid-19 pandemic with an r-value=0.510 and sig=0.000. Other results on categorization showed that the pressure of tuberculosis patients tends to be low, and psychological well-being, self-efficacy, and social support in tuberculosis patients tend to be medium level. The research is expected to improve psychological well-being and self-efficacy for tuberculosis patients, make others around tuberculosis patients pay more attention to patients, and provide social support to avoid anxiety during the Covid-19 pandemic.
