Abstract

This article is based on the results of a mini-research that aims to describe the religious tolerance of Minangkabau and Batak ethnic students at Xaverius Bukittinggi High School in the academic year 2019/2020. This research uses a quantitative approach. The steps in this research are conducting preliminary studies, literature studies, data collection, data analysts and conclusions. The population of this study, XII Bukittinggi ethnic group Minangkabau and Batak ethics XII grade students. Sampling with purposive sampling technique. Data collection using a questionnaire, data analysis techniques with normality, homogeneity, and T-test. The results of this study illustrate the religious tolerance of ethnic Minangkabau and Batak students dominated by the tolerant category. There was no significant difference in religious tolerance between ethnic Minangkabau and Batak students. However, differences in religious tolerance scores were found between ethnic Minangkabau students and Batak students on the aspect of maintaining independence in practising religion and respecting the practice of diversity. The Batak students are a minority population in Xaverius Bukittinggi high school while the majority are Minangkabau students population. Development of religious tolerance Students of the Minangkabau ethnic group and the Batak ethnic group at Xaverius High School tend to be equally tolerant and potentially more tolerant when the curriculum and education at the school are carried out properly. The results of this study can be used as consideration for developing religious-spiritual strength counselling and arranging cross-cultural counselling and guidance programs in high schools.

Abstract

Industry Revolution 4.0 is acquiring numerous progressions to the world and one of the transformations is on the future workplace. Hence, students will be largely affected and have a big responsibility to adapt and survive the changes. As mentioned in Super?s theory, students must have some abilities during a certain period. And in light of Super?s career life span theory, students have to achieve their career crystallization. Ironically many students, be that as it may, did not meet the ability on crystallization sub-stage. That is the reason a large number of students getting jumbled between their education background and career later on. This study aimed to investigate vocation crystallization Indonesian students in Malaysia. The case study was used which involved a semi-structured interview and the participant is a student who is studying at the University of Malaya. This investigation indicated that during crystallization sub-stage there are three significant things which are crystallization conduct, resources career information, and determining career choice. Alongside students themselves, schools and counsellors are required to assume a key role in guaranteeing this to happen.

Abstract

Adversity skills are the ability to respond to adversity and a series of ways to improve response to adversity. This study aims to produce profiles of adversity skills in married couples (husband and wife) in young families (aged 1-5 years) Tobelo tribe in responding to family problems. The data was collected using the Quick Take ARP (Adversity Response Profile) scale adopted from Paul G. Stolz, and involved research respondents of thirty married couples. Descriptive data analysis using one way ANOVA. The results showed that the profile of adversity skills in young Tobelo tribal families was in the campers category on average. That is, the average young family is still in the comfort zone and requires an effort trigger to be more successful in the family. The implications of these findings are used as data on the initial conditions of adversity skills, which can then be followed up to conduct further research by developing instruments used to uncover urgent family problems.

Abstract

This paper intends to discuss the review of career adaptability in several different theoretical settings using a multicultural perspective. The scope of the discussion includes the definition, essence, aspect, and indicator of career adaptability in several theories. The methodology used is in the form of a literature review. This paper aims to provide benefits in providing descriptions of how career adaptability in several theories to gain a deeper understanding of the concept. The results obtained in the form of a review of the concept of ?career adaptability? using a multicultural perspective from three different theories derived from the career construction counselling approach and the social-cognitive counselling approach. Each theory has been reviewed from four dimensions, namely: definition, essence, aspects, and indicators.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the accuracy of empathy in Javanese and Sundanese students from the Guidance and Counseling Study Program at Ahmad Dahlan University. Samples were taken by purposive sample with 60 students consisting of 30 Javanese students and 30 Sundanese students. The instrument used was empathy accuracy scale. The study results were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis and different tests with Anova. The results showed that the accuracy of empathy among Javanese and Sundanese students had a significant value of 0.821 0.05, which means there was no significant difference between the accuracy of empathy among Javanese and Sundanese students. This research also reveals that the highest aspect of empathy accuracy in Javanese students is emotional concern, while Sundanese students are perspective taking. This means that the accuracy of empathy among Javanese students is higher in understanding and feeling the emotional of others, while the accuracy of empathy of Sundanese students is higher in understanding and placing themselves in the minds of others. The results of this study can be used as a base for developing techniques and strategies in guidance and counseling services that focus on developing accuracy of empathy in adolescents

Abstract

It has been repeatedly documented in the scientific literature that culture plays an important role in forgiveness. However, research of mountainous, highland, lowland and coastal culture related to forgiveness was rare. The goal of this study was to describe the comparison of forgiveness among Javanese ethnic students who had been raised in mountainous, highland, lowland, and coastal culture background. Forgiveness Scale developed to obtain the data was adapted from TRIM and has been tested for its reliability and validity using the Rasch model. Descriptive statistics, Kruskal-Wallis (H) test, and Mann-Whitney (U) posthoc test were used to analyze the data. The result showed an insignificant difference in forgiveness but showed a significant difference in lessen-avoidance motivation. This finding had practical implications in multicultural counselling, especially in promoting forgiveness to various counselees. For a more comprehensive understanding, further research in forgiveness motives is required.

Abstract

This article is based on the results of a mini-research that aims to describe the dynamics of emotional stability in the Kutai's family in East Kalimantan. This research uses the descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The instrument in this study used a questionnaire, then continued with interviews, and observations made to the families of the Kutai tribe in Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara and Kabupaten Kutai Timur. The data that has been collected is then analyzed using ANOVA quantitative analysis. The results showed that the dynamics of emotional stability in the Kutai's family were not significantly different between the Kutai's family in Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara and Kabupaten Kutai Timur. The results of this study can be used as a starting material to develop a family counselling and guidance program that focuses on the dynamics of emotional stability in the family, especially in Kutai's family.

Abstract

This article reviews the results of a descriptive analytical study of the career decision making profile of guidance and counseling students at IKIP Siliwangi by applying the career decision difficulty questionnaire from Itamar Gati et al. The subjects in this study were 170 students. The results of this study are to examine the students’ difficulties in making career decisions related to: (1). lack of knowledge about the steps involved in the career decision making process; (2). lack of information about self (3). lack of information about the type of work; (4). lack of information about how to obtain additional information. The data obtained are tabulated and analyzed to get the results of the statistical description. The result of data analysis found that the level of students difficultues in making career decision categorized moderate.  The statistical test on differences of difficulty of career decision making based on gender showed that male students are more difficult in making career decisions.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the model of strengthening the national identity through the cadre pattern in the Islamic Student Association organization (HMI). This study applied a qualitative approach with a case study method. Student organizations have a crucial role in providing insight, sense, and spirit of Indonesian nationalism that is wrapped in the frame of Unity in Diversity. One of the challenges faced by a student organization in Indonesia is the ability of this organization to protect its noble goals from certain interests, which can direct the activities to the issues that violate the motto. In this context, cadre in student organizations must strive to foster and strengthen the spirit of nationalism. The presence of a student religious organization provides its uniqueness that is noteworthy to study. Therefore, this study will identify how the concept of student religious organization regeneration, especially the Islamic Student Association. In this article, the researcher views that the cadre of a religious student organization such as the Islamic Student Association has a very unique and strong style of regeneration. It can be observed from the numerous cadres of Islamic Student Association who work in government, non-governmental organizations, and other sectors who are highly open with differences and voice about the importance of togetherness in unity, which is based on the ideology of struggle, i.e., pluralism, democracy, state administration, and law enforcement. The three struggle programs are determinative factors for caring for the National Identity (Unity in Diversity).

Abstract

This article contains an analysis of the life meaning of the elderly living in a nursing home. The life meaning is obtained from a theoretical literature review about the life meaning (the results of research from 2009-2020). Based on the theory, the elderly are classified into 4 groups, namely: middle age which is between 45-59 years old, elderly which is between 60-74 years old, old which is between 75-90 years old, and very old which is over 90 years old. The steps in this literature review are identifying key research topics; read abstract of relevant research results; record the reading results by making a literature map (literature map) in sequence; pouring a general view of the research topic based on existing literature, then explaining the originality and importance of the research topic to be carried out in comparison with the existing literature. The study results of this article are useful for guiding the implementation of guidance and counseling for the life meaning of the elderly’s life.
