Abstract

The use of phet simulation media is not only to replace the role of real laboratories, but also as a complementary solution to the incompleteness of real laboratory facilities and equipment in schools. This media is also certain to make students interesting and motivated so that completing student learning outcomes will ultimately increase understanding of concepts in physics material. This study aims to determine the extent of the use of Phet simulation media can improve student understanding of concepts compared to conventional methods. This research is a quantitative study, with the method being true experimental; while the design used is the randomized pretest-posttest control group design. As a population of students in class XII MAN Indrapuri, while the sample is class XII-I and XII-2 which are selected randomly and act as the experimental class and the control class. Furthermore, it is analyzed using the N-Gain index, normality test, homogeneity test and statistical test. It can be concluded that learning through Phet simulation is better than conventional learning, with an average increase in N-Gain students' concept understanding of the experimental class 78.4% and the control class 52.1%.

Abstract

The success of educational goals is mainly determined by the teaching and learning process experienced by students. Students who learn will experience changes in knowledge, understanding, reasoning, skills, values, and attitudes. In order for these changes to be achieved properly, various factors are needed to produce the desired changes, namely the effective understanding of the concept. In the Bahasa Indonesian lesson, the students’ interest in student learning was still low. Many students can not understand properly and correctly. In evaluating many of the students' scores below the KKM.. This classroom action research aimed: 1) To find out the application of the Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) Model in increasing the Learning Interest; 2) To know the increasing of the students’ interest in learning through the application of the CTL Model; 3) How is the students’ responses toward the material for understanding the text of moral stories/fables through the application of CTL Model. This research was conducted using interactive qualitative methods and Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was conducted in 2 cycles. Each cycle included planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this research were the students of class VIII.1 odd semester SMP Negeri 2 Lubuk Pakam Kab. Deli Serdang. While the object is Contextual Teaching and Learning Model. Based on the data analysis, it can be concluded that in cycle 1 the students' learning completeness in this material was only 69.29, while in cycle 2 it was applied the Contextual Teaching and Learning Model. Learning (CTL) increased in cycle 2 the average value increased to 87.14. Student response also increased, data from observations of student activity from 62.50% in cycle 1, increased in cycle 2 to 85.42%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the use of learning videos on the learning outcomes of class XII students. This research conducted at SMAN 1 RSBI Lubuk Pakam on March 2012. The population of the study was the students of class XII consisted of 179 students. In selecting the sample, researcher chose randomly sampling from 6 classes, and chose 2 classes to be as the sample. The first class was the experimental group and the second class was control group.  This research is a quasi experiment with One-shoot Study Case design. Data were analyzed by t test, using SPSS. The result showed that the students’ outcomes who learned by video was more effective than the students who did not learn by video. Based on the data analysis through SPPS with the significance 95% (p < 0,05), it found that t score was 0,037. The result showed that t score=(-2,127) < t table =(-2,043).

Abstract

The aims of this research was to determine the differences between female and male students’ perception toward Biology subject in classroom environment. This research was conducted at SMAN 4 Banda Aceh, with a total sample of 103 students. A Krejcie-Morgan table was used as the sampling technique. Students’ perception was collected by using “What is Happening in this Class (WIHIC)” questioner which has been translated into Indonesian. Collected data was analysed by the Independent T-Test. The results showed that the only differences perception betwen male and female students on actual classroom environtment was on teacher support (0,65). However, male and female students perception on the expected situation in classroom environment were differ on most aspect, except on student involvement (-0,17).

Abstract

Internalization and habituation of Islamic character in Integrated Islamic schools are realized through the full-day school program. Through character education students are expected to be able to independently improve and use their knowledge, study and instil the values of character so that it is manifested in daily behaviour. The purpose of this study was to determine the flagship full-day school program from SMPIT in Langsa City. Data collection techniques carried out by interview and documentation. The results showed that there were differences in the curriculum used by schools and the educational background of teachers. Muhammadiyah SMPIT combines the National curriculum, dayah education and kemuhammdiyahan and has teachers from foreign and domestic graduates, while SMP Tadzkia integrates the National curriculum with the JSIT curriculum and domestic graduate teachers

Abstract

Some factors supporting occur sex behavior among teenagers, among others; environmental factors, the electronic media, the lack of information and lack of religious education. The school environment has contributed to the occurrence of free sex. Schools are less disciplined and ignored kaedah-kaedah religion, often no lessons during school hours. The aim of research to identify the role of teachers' relationship to knowledge about adolescent promiscuity. This study is a parallel analytic design with cross sectional study to identify the relationship of the teacher's role pengatahuan teens about sex include the variable role of teachers as educators and counselors and knowledge of adolescents about sex. This research was conducted in SMA Negeri 1 Indrapuri subdistrict, Aceh Besar district. Sampling was done by stratified random sampling with the number of respondents 82 people. This research was conducted in SMA Negeri 1 Indrapuri subdistrict, Aceh Besar District by distributing questionnaires. Univariate and bivariate data analysis using a computer program. The results showed no significant correlation between the teacher's role as a teacher and mentor teens about sex in which the test results obtained by statistical P-value = 0.006 where the result is less than the value of α = 0.05. Knowledge of adolescents about sex is strongly influenced by the role of a good teacher. Expected in educational institutions SMA N 1 Subdistrict Indrapuri to play well in fostering the students and teach them about sex.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of teacher competence on teacher performance. In this research using quantitative approach with influence test method. The number of samples is 160 teachers in 16 schools of elementary school, junior high school, and SMK selected randomly in Jakarta. The sampling of this research using cluster sampling method technique. In this study using questionnaires instrument filled by teachers as research data. The data collected on this research variable is analyzed by using regression analysis technique. The conclusions of this study are (1) there is a significant, strong and positive impact on teachers' pedagogic competencies on teacher performance, and (2) there is a significant, strong and positive impact of teacher professional competence on teacher performance..

Abstract

Studying abroad is no longer the dream of a handful of Indonesian students. There are a variety of accesses enabling Indonesian students to realize their goals, one of which is the opportunity for external funding or scholarships. The scholarship is a support for the students who excel, but are constrained by economic problems to live abroad. This study aimed to identify the motivation of tertiary education graduates in Aceh, in participating in the scholarships to study abroad, and the expectations they wished to achieve from these scholarships. This study was a case study, using a questionnaire in data collection. A sample of 100 people were selected randomly. Abstract

The use of science process skills plays a significant role in supporting students' abilities in terms of critical thinking or conceptual understanding. Especially in the 21st-century learning era, the demand for critical thinking is very much needed and supported by the use of satisfactory technology. The purpose of this study is to describe the effect of problem possing learning models on understanding concepts in terms of science process skills and critical thinking skills. This study was made in the form of a quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design model with a research location at SMAN 1 Gamping Sleman. The research sample consisted of 2 classes, and each class consisted of 28 students, with the topic being taught that there was dynamic fluid. The research instrument used was a test sheet conceptual understanding and critical thinking skills, as well as questionnaires science process skills. The study results showed that the model-assisted learning Edmodo Problem Posing on the fluid dynamic topic could improve students' understanding of concept skills in terms of science process skills and critical thinking proven by the difference in posttest scores between the experimental class and the control class with a standard N-gain of 0.50 and 0.20. The ability to understand concepts in the dynamic fluid material of the experimental class is significantly higher than the control class. Based on the calculation results of an analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) obtained value of Fcount = 9.835 and Ft5% = 4.03, because Fcount> Ft 5% then the null hypothesis is rejected so that there is an effect of increasing the ability of students to understand the concept of the given treatment learning with Edmodo-assisted Problem Posing and conventional learning with Edmodo in terms of science process skills and critical thinking. There is a contribution of covariate variable with a value of R2y (1,2,3) = 0,2658 with three covariates viz science process skills, critical thinking and initial abilities that provide science process skills by 22.85%, critical thinking by 2.37%, and initial ability by 1.37%.

Abstract

PhET Simulation is a free software created by the University of Colorado in the United States. The learning process by using this PhET simulation students can study certain material directly independently by using a computer which is equipped with the PhET program. The method in writing this article uses qualitative research methods. The data that has been collected is then analyzed so that it can be concluded that; 1) PhET simulation is an effective learning medium to increase student learning effectiveness; 2) The PhET simulation can help students learn without having to use a real laboratory; 3) by utilizing phet simulation media it is also able to improve students' ICT literacy skills; 4) How to use the PhET simulation is very easy and understandable according to the science lesson material; 5) The PhET simulation can be used for independent study at home without having to be supervised by the teacher at school.
