Abstract

Communication skills are critical in multiple aspects of life.   However, many students experience difficulties developing their speaking ability. Therefore, Project Based Learning (PjBL) through showtime project work, plays a vital role in improving students' speaking skills. This study investigated the effect of PjBL through showtime project work on enhancing EFL learners' speaking skills. A quantitative approach with a true experimental design, employing tests and questionnaires as data collection instruments. Seventy students in a senior high school in Banda Aceh were involved as participants, each consisting of 35 students in experimental and control classes. The data were analyzed using inferential statistical analysis. The average posttest score showed a significance level (Sig 2-tailed) of 0.000, which is less than 0.05. Therefore, the alternative hypothesis was accepted. The research result indicated that the students who were taught using PjBL through showtime project work showed improvement in their speaking abilities. The questionnaire findings indicated that over 80% of respondents expressed favorable perceptions regarding the implementation of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) through Showtime Project Work. This method not only enhances language proficiency but also develops critical thinking, facilitates creative expression, and strengthens collaborative competencies among learners.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an ethnoscience-based educational video about the human skeletal system for 11th- grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Indrapuri, Aceh Besar. The research employs a Research and Development (R&D) method using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate) by Thiagarajan. The video, developed using the CapCut application, integrates the traditional Acehnese dance, Ranup Lampuan, with the concept of the human skeletal system. Validation conducted by three media experts showed a validity percentage of 79.41%, which is categorized as feasible. The ethnoscience-based video, using the Ranup Lampuan dance to teach the skeletal system, is designed to incorporate local wisdom into biology education. The Ranup Lampuan dance, a part of Acehnese culture, was chosen because its graceful and structured movements represent various functions of bones and joints in the human body, helping students understand the material in a more contextual and meaningful way. This educational video not only serves as a learning medium but also as a tool for preserving local culture and instilling cultural pride in students.

Abstract

This study focuses on the experiential dimension of religiosity in Seudati poetry, providing constructive insights for researchers and readers regarding the experiential aspects found within its verses. Seudati poetry, as a cultural treasure of Acehnese oral tradition, deserves preservation due to its profound religious values—particularly those reflecting the consequences of an individual's beliefs, practices, experiences, and daily religious knowledge. Using a descriptive-qualitative method and a literary hermeneutic approach, the study interprets Seudati poetry as a reflection of universal truths about religiosity in the lives of the Acehnese people and Muslims globally. The analysis reveals that the experiential values in Seudati poetry include feeling close to Allah and sensing that prayers are answered, feeling grateful, having faith, being patient in facing trials, and experiencing inner peace. These findings confirm that the experiential dimension of religiosity is deeply embedded in the hearts of Muslims, especially among the people of Aceh, and serves as a meaningful way to draw closer to Allah SWT, the Lord of all creation.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the primary factors contributing to high school students' anxiety when speaking English and to identify strategies that can help improve their confidence. This study employs a qualitative design with a case study approach, focusing on students at SMA 1 Kuta Baro. The sample for this study consists of six individuals selected using purposive sampling technique. And data was collected through semi structured interviews and analyzed using the Miles and Huberman (1994) framework. The findings reveal that the main causes of students' anxiety when speaking English include fear of speaking in public, lack of solutions for managing self-anxiety, and concerns about being mocked by peers. Additionally, students face difficulties due to forgetting vocabulary and fearing mispronunciations, which are often exacerbated by poor study habits and a strong Acehnese accent. These factors contribute to their struggles with speaking English fluently, frequently leading to reluctance to speak in public out of fear of making mistakes or disappointing their audience. Identified strategies to help students overcome this anxiety include expanding vocabulary, building self-confidence, preparing before speaking, using relaxation techniques, and enhancing knowledge. This research may serve as a reference for future studies on similar issues. Further research is encouraged to include classroom observations to better understand students' anxiety management and to refine interview techniques to gather more comprehensive responses

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of guess game method in enhancing students' speaking skills at SDIT Al-Ihsan. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that the use of guess games was able to increase students' active participation, self-confidence, and ability to use vocabulary and construct sentences in English. The learning atmosphere becomes more fun and interactive, so students are more motivated to speak without fear of making mistakes. Students who were initially passive began to be actively involved after being encouraged by the teacher and their peers. Social interaction between students also increased, strengthening cooperation and support during the learning process. Although some students had difficulty in conveying descriptions clearly, the teacher's guidance and examples helped them develop gradually. Abstract

This study aims to examine students' perceptions of the constructivism learning model in improving mahara kitabah skills at MAN 1 Indragiri Hilir. This research uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological study method. The research subjects were grade XI students who participated in learning maharah kitabah with constructivism model. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation of student writing. Data analysis was conducted using thematic analysis technique. The results showed that students have a positive perception of constructivism learning which makes learning more interactive, collaborative, and meaningful. This learning model is proven to be able to improve students' Arabic writing skills, especially in sentence structure, vocabulary, and fluency in conveying ideas. The obstacles faced are shyness during presentation and difficulty expressing written ideas. This study recommends teachers to develop inclusive and supportive learning methods to overcome these obstacles and improve the effectiveness of mahara kitabah learning.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a Learning Cycle 5E instructional model integrated with mathematical context to enhance students' conceptual understanding of Ohm’s Law in Grade X at SMAN 2 Peusangan. The research method employed is a model development approach based on a simplified version of Borg & Gall, consisting of four stages: preliminary study, model design, expert validation and revision, and limited trial. The limited trial involved 30 students and was conducted over four sessions. Expert validation results indicated that the developed model is highly valid (87.3%). The limited trial showed an increase in the average conceptual understanding score from 54 (pre-test) to 82 (post-test), with an N-Gain score of 0.61, classified as moderate to high. Data analysis was carried out using descriptive quantitative methods by calculating the N-Gain value and analyzing expert validation results. The integration of mathematical context within the 5E Learning Cycle model effectively assisted students in understanding the conceptual and mathematical relationships between voltage, current, and resistance. Furthermore, the model proved effective in enhancing students' critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Therefore, this model is considered feasible for broader implementation in physics education

Abstract

Arabic language subjects have long been implemented in Indonesia, especially at the Madrasah Aliyah (MA) level. However, the learning outcomes set have not been achieved. The purpose of this study is to analyze the difficulties of learning Arabic in MA. This type of research uses descriptive qualitative research method. The main data source was obtained by making direct observations in the field, namely the teacher and MA Darul Fikri Sidoarjo. The data collection techniques used are interviews, observation, documentation. The results of research conducted by researchers at Madrasah Aliyah (MA) Darul Fikri Sidoarjo in analyzing students' difficulties in understanding Arabic language subjects in class X Azhary, found that there are factors that cause difficulties experienced by students. These factors are the first internal factor, Mastery of vocabulary (mufradat), second, difficulty pronouncing Arabic, third lack of motivation, and external factors, first, learning media, second, learning methods, third, environmental factors. Efforts made by teachers at MA Darul Fikri Sidoarjo Islamic Boarding School in Arabic language subjects, namely, providing motivation and evaluation in Arabic language learning, to overcome learning difficulties show a pretty good effort. This can be seen from the teacher's efforts in overcoming learning difficulties, including using good and interesting learning methods and media
