Abstract

Sendangdalem Village is a village in Padureso District, Kebumen Regency, where the majority of the population earns a living as farmers and livestock breeders. The natural resources it possesses have great potential for economic development, particularly in the livestock sector. KTT Sidomaju has not yet optimally managed its livestock business, such as providing green fodder with a cut and curry system, requiring daily forage searches due to a lack of feed stocks and livestock waste that is simply piled up due to not being properly managed. The cut and carry feeding method makes livestock time inefficient. Unprocessed livestock waste can produce a pungent odor and has no economic value. The purpose of this community service activity is to increase knowledge and skills related to silage feed management and processing solid livestock waste into solid organik fertilizer through composting technology. The Community Service activity began with a survey and observation, socialization, counseling, and the production of silage feed and solid organik fertilizer. The community service activity in Sendangdalem Village received a positive response from the community and KTT Sido Maju. Silage feed processing can provide continuous feed and save time. Processing sheep manure into solid organik fertilizer can reduce environmental pollution and speed up the process of decomposing the material into compost that is ready to be used for plants.

Abstract

Local economic development for freshwater fish farming has significantly improved the community's economy. In Jubung Village, Sukorambi District, Jember Regency, there are eight freshwater ponds with a total area of 1,639 m2 managed by several community groups. These ponds are well managed and cultivated, but have not yet utilized auto-feeder fish feed technology and solar panels. As a field analysis, it was discovered that the determining factors for the success of fish farming are the number of stockings and the frequency of manual feeding. Based on this, a community service activity was carried out by presenting Appropriate Technology (TTG) to improve the management of freshwater fish ponds, using an auto-feeder fish feed device integrated with an IoT platform, and solar panels. This community service was carried out by applying the device to fish ponds in Jubung Village. Next, socialization activities were carried out to pond managers to utilize the technology. As a result of the community service activity, among others, an understanding of the technology for freshwater fish farming using an auto-feeder fish device that is carried out automatically or accessed remotely, as well as the use of solar panels to operate the device without using electricity.

Used cooking oil is a household and culinary industry waste that has the potential to pollute the environment if not properly processed. The Aisyiyah Girls’ Orphanage in Malang, which operates a catering business, produces approximately 30 liters of used cooking oil per month. This community service activity aims to provide education on processing used cooking oil into marketable products in the form of aromatherapy candles, as well as to foster an entrepreneurial mindset among the orphanage children. The implementation methods include raising awareness about the dangers of used cooking oil and conducting hands-on training in making aromatherapy candles using additional materials such as paraffin, coloring agents, and essential oils. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants’ knowledge of waste management and their skills in producing aromatherapy candles. Participants also showed interest in continuing production independently. This program provides dual benefits in terms of waste reduction and economic empowerment.

Abstract

The Ider Galengan Educational Tourism Area in Tambong Village still lacks adequate infrastructure, particularly a pedestrian bridge that is no longer safe for visitors. This condition reduces comfort and the attractiveness of the tourism site. This community service program aims to construct a knockdown bridge made from green materials to improve site accessibility and to increase community knowledge through training on bridge construction and sustainable tourism concepts. The program included site surveys, bridge design, component fabrication, on-site installation, and training involving 31 participants. Knowledge improvement was evaluated using pretest–posttest analysis through normality tests, homogeneity tests, N-Gain score, and the Paired Sample t-test. The results show an N-Gain value of 0.70, categorized as high effectiveness, and a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores. Satisfaction evaluation from 8 partner respondents indicated an 86% satisfaction level. Overall, this program successfully improved tourism accessibility and enhanced community understanding of sustainable construction.

Abstract

Suci Village, located in Panti District, Jember Regency, is one of the villages that manages a Waste Bank Unit (BSU). The village has the Larahan Makmur Waste Bank, which was established in January 2018. The establishment of BSU Larahan Makmur was partly driven by the fact that Suci Village is situated on the slopes of Mount Argopuro and is prone to natural disasters, particularly flooding. The main issue in waste management at BSU Larahan Makmur is that its activities are still focused on the management and utilization of inorganic waste, while household organic waste has not yet been utilized. Currently, a large portion of household organic waste in Suci Village is still disposed of into rivers The objectives of this community service activity are to improve the knowledge, skills, and participation of partners in utilizing household organic waste into compost. The activity was carried out through extension methods, which included: providing education on the utilization of household organic waste for compost production using the takakura method, drum composter technology, and ecoenzyme making; and practice and mentoring in compost production from household organic waste using the takakura method and drum composter technology, as well as ecoenzyme making together with the partners The results of this community service activity include: improved knowledge and skills of the partners in utilizing household organic waste for compost and ecoenzym; increased utilization of organic waste for compost production by the partners; and the handover of composter (3 units) and takakura baskets (8 baskets) to the partners.

Abstract

Waste is unused material that comes from various human activities. One type of waste that is widely produced from household activities is used cooking oil. Used cooking oil is cooking oil that has been used repeatedly and has deteriorated, making it hazardous to health and the environmental ecosystem. Processing used cooking oil into solid soap is a simple, economical, and environmentally friendly innovation that can be applied on a household scale based on the principle of zero waste industry. This community service activity was carried out in collaboration with the Aisyiyah Branch in Kebanggan Village, Sumbang District, Banyumas, where most of the members are housewives. The main objective of the program was to raise environmental awareness while empowering partners through training in making solid soap from used cooking oil. The methods used included socialization on the dangers of used cooking oil waste, the practice of making solid soap using the cold process method, and the application of the soap produced for washing kitchen utensils. Evaluation was carried out through pre-tests and post-tests to assess the increase in community knowledge and skills. Abstract

Water availability is a key factor in the sustainability of small-scale livestock farming. Tambong Village, Kabat District, Banyuwangi Regency, faces limited access to water for livestock needs, particularly during the dry season, as well as low community knowledge regarding water supply and distribution technologies. This community service program aims to develop efficient water source infrastructure and enhance community capacity in managing livestock water supply. The methods employed include site surveys and preliminary studies, technical planning, construction of shallow wells with gravity-based distribution systems, and training and socialization on water supply technology. The results indicate that the water infrastructure—consisting of a dug well, storage tank, piping network, and electrical system—has been successfully constructed and operates properly. Evaluation results show that the community’s level of understanding reached 85.17%, categorized as very good. This program contributes to improving livestock productivity and supports food security programs at the village level.
