Abstract

This study aims to describe the development of Indonesian language learning media based on StoryJumper in the form of a digital book entitled Belajar Bahasa Indonesia Itu Seru! for Grade I elementary school students. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach focusing on the characterization, structure, and content of the developed digital learning media. The data were collected through documentation of the StoryJumper digital book, including text content, illustrations, learning activities, and supporting features, and were analyzed using content analysis. The results show that the developed media presents Indonesian language learning materials through contextual illustrated stories equipped with vocabulary enrichment and structured learning activities. The media integrates four language skills, namely listening, speaking, reading, and writing, which are presented systematically in each chapter. In addition, the use of Canva as a supporting design tool and the integration of audio elements further enhance the attractiveness and learning experience of students. Overall, the StoryJumper-based digital book has strong potential to be used as innovative digital learning media that is engaging, communicative, and aligned with the characteristics of elementary school students. Abstract

ABSTRACT   This study examines the struggle for survival among marginalized communities in Brian Khrisna’s novel Sisi Tergelap Surga through the lens of the sociology of literature. The research aims to reveal the forms of marginalization and the struggles of marginalized characters as reflections of urban social realities, particularly in Jakarta. This qualitative research employs a library research method, using the novel as the primary data source and theoretical books, academic journals, and social data as secondary sources. The analysis was conducted through close reading to identify patterns of marginalization and the characters’ strategies for survival within socio-economic urban contexts. The findings indicate that Brian Khrisna’s Sisi Tergelap Surga portrays three major forms of marginalization: social, economic, and gender-based. The characters face poverty, discrimination, and structural injustice but persist through solidarity, perseverance, and efforts to uphold their dignity. Jakarta is depicted as a symbol of modern paradox—where luxury coexists with deprivation, and progress contrasts with exclusion. Ultimately, Sisi Tergelap Surga not only depicts the suffering of marginalized individuals but also serves as a form of social critique and moral reflection on the deep-rooted inequalities that persist within contemporary society. Abstract

ABSTRACT   Comic strips are a concise narrative form using images to convey messages briefly. They help students understand concepts and increase learning motivation, particularly in addressing contemporary linguistic issues. While comic strips are commonly used in subjects like science, history, and religion, their use in language learning, especially at the student level, is still rare. However, comics are effective and enjoyable for learners of all ages. This research aims to develop comic strip learning media for Indonesian language education. The ADDIE development method was applied, with the media covering eight chapters: the position and function of Indonesian language, language variety, spelling, punctuation, effective sentence construction, discourse, scientific writing, and citation and reference formatting. Based on the research findings, it was concluded that comic strips can help students better understand literacy activities, especially in critically analyzing linguistic issues in their environment. This study highlights that incorporating comic strips into language education can boost student engagement and comprehension, making the learning process both enjoyable and effective.  Keywords: Comic Strips; Linguistic Issues; Literacy; Media Development

Abstract

ABSTRACT   This study analyzes Bakhtin’s Carnivalization in relation to the Representation of Repressive Power in the novel Genduk Duku by Y.B. Mangunwijaya. The research employs a qualitative paradigm with a Sociology of Literature approach, specifically focusing on Mikhail Bakhtin’s theory of Carnivalization. The formal object of this study is Mikhail Bakhtin's Carnivalization, while the material object is the novel Genduk Duku. The research problem centers on the forms of Bakhtinian Carnivalization manifested within the novel. The objective of this research is to identify the forms and representations of character carnivalization in Genduk Duku as a response to the representation of the Mataram rulers repressive power. The findings demonstrate that there are four categories of carnivalization utilized as a form of implicit resistance: (1) Familiar and free interaction between people, representing the dissolution of social hierarchies which allows the critical voices of the lower class to be acknowledged by the elite; (2) Eccentric behavior, manifested through unconventional actions to subvert or deflect the repressive will of the upper class; (3) Carnivalistic mésalliances, which unite the sacred and the profane to dismantle the authority and prestige of the ruling class; (4) Sacrilegious, in the form of acts of blasphemy against the upper class.  Keywords: Bakhtin’s Carnivalization; Genduk Duku Novel; Implicit Resistance;Repressive Power; Sociology of Literature

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to examine the form of digital literacy and technology integration in Indonesian language textbooks grade XI in the Merdeka Curriculum. The study using a qualitative descriptive approach, using the book "Cerdas Cergas Berbahasa dan Bersastra Indonesia" as the main object. Data were obtained through document analysis with the content analysis method, based on digital literacy theory and the TPACK technology integration model. The results of the analysis show that elements of digital literacy and technology integration have begun to be implemented in textbooks, but their application has not been fully integrated into the learning process. The forms of digital literacy identified include the inclusion of links (3), the use of QR Codes (14), and the use of educational applications (4). The presence of these features contributes to the development of digital literacy skills, information navigation skills, and technology-based interactive learning. However, this technology integration is still additional and has not become a core part of all learning activities. Based on these findings, the study recommends the need to strengthen and expand the integration of technology in textbooks so that they can maximally support the development of students digital literacy according to the needs of 21st century learning. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze persuasive language strategies used by influencers on Instagram from a pragmatic perspective. This research employs a qualitative descriptive design with data consisting of captions, comments, and audiovisual content containing persuasive elements. Data were collected through non-participant observation and documentation, and analyzed using an interactive model including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that influencers utilize various persuasive language strategies, such as directive, expressive, and assertive speech acts, as well as implicatures and credibility construction. Directive speech acts are used to encourage immediate action, while expressive acts and emotional appeals function to build a connection with the audience. In addition, implicature serves as an indirect persuasive strategy that enhances trust and authenticity. The results indicate that language in influencer content is not merely informative but also strategic in shaping audience perception, building trust, and influencing behavior. Therefore, a pragmatic approach provides deeper insights into how meaning and persuasion are constructed in digital communication. Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of ChatGPT as an aid in extemporaneous speech learning and its relationship to student engagement and speaking skills. This study used a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, questionnaires, interviews, practical assessments, and documentation. The results showed that the use of ChatGPT supports a more structured learning process, especially in helping students find ideas, organize key points, and develop speech outlines. The use of ChatGPT is also associated with increased student engagement and positive responses during learning. In addition, there is a tendency for improvements in aspects of material mastery, speech structure, and student confidence, although speaking skills such as expression, gesture, and improvisation still vary and require continuous practice. Thus, ChatGPT plays a role as an aid that supports student readiness in practicing speaking, but the development of speaking skills still requires direct practice and teacher guidance.  Keywords: ChatGPT; Public Speaking Learning; Extemporaneous Method;Speaking Skills; Learning Media.
