Abstract

Pari City is one of the villages in the Serdang Bedagai District of Pantai Cermin. A narrative relating to the village's location, which is surrounded by beaches, revealed the village's name as Pari, according to information from locals. On one of these beaches, stingrays are rumored to congregate. There are a significant number of stingrays on the shore, making their capture easy for everyone. Over time, word of the quantity of stingrays in this village spread to neighboring communities, luring many people from other villages to come and catch them. People from surrounding villages are unaware of this village's former name, and the people do not have a moniker for their community. Due to the abundance of stingrays along this community's coastline, people from outside the village have dubbed it the City of Pari. The explanation is obvious since, according to the legend, the profusion of stingrays resembles a city because there are so many of them, and over time people have grown accustomed to calling it the City of Stingrays. According to tales told by locals, stingrays were formerly abundant on the beach, but they are now extremely rare and almost never seen again due to commercial fishing and trading. Therefore, Kota Pari Village is deemed essential for usage as a tourist destination, and tourism development and development in this village are anticipated to optimize the potential and principal functions and give additional value to raise Village Original Income (PADes) and Regional Original Income (PAD). Moreover, it is anticipated that tourism will enhance the level of community welfare, particularly for the local village community and generally for the inhabitants of Kota Pari Village. Using the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) technique, the correlation between each indicator and variable is analyzed to determine the level of interest in a visit. It is intended that the SEM method study will provide input and strategic plans for the growth and expansion of Kota Pari Village Tourism

Abstract

Community service underpinned within English for tourism is rarely conducted to the practitioners. Whereas, it is urgent to do that residents living in the tourism spots and are intensely mingled in the tourism services need knowledge and skills in both communication and tourism insights. These skills will be helpful for them to interact more potential tourists to come. One of them is the tourist attraction of Bandulu beach, Anyer, Banten. In connection with this, concrete steps to provide practical English training for residents around the tourist area must be implemented immediately to improve English proficiency which is one of the reasons why the tourists visit the tourist attraction. Local government data states that only 1-5% of visitors to Bandulu beach tourism are foreign tourists. That is, if in 1 month there are 1000 visitors then only 10 to 50 foreign tourists. In fact, Wiyatno (2013) stated that foreign tourist visits to Indonesia have increased almost every year. The potential number of foreign tourists should be supported by human resources with tourism insight and proficiency in foreign languages, especially good English so that communication with general English in the tourism sector can be carried out. Master, P. (1998,) said the need for mastery of English is increasing along with the need for professionals in the tourism sector. From the results of a brief interview with one of the food vendors on Bandulu Beach, communication failures often occur when foreign tourists ask for information on traditional Betawi food available around this tourist spot. The limitations of the surrounding community to communicate in English made foreign tourists not get a satisfactory answer. This problem will have a negative impact in the form of a lack of interest in the tourist attraction, especially for foreign tourists. therefore, English for Tourism for traders in Bandulu Beach is urgent to be implemented.

Abstract

Self-medication practice can result in medication errors due to limited public knowledge of pharmaceutical medicine, especially among school-aged adolescents, who are prohibited from doing self-medication. This study aimed to evaluate the students' knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical medicine, pharmacists, and self-medication, and also the awareness to be wise and smart in responding to the use of pharmaceutical products for maintaining public health. The study was carried out by conducting the lecture on drugs and self-medication through a classical presentation and comic story to students of SDN Keputih 245 Elementary School and SMPN 19 Junior High School, Surabaya. Moreover, DAGUSIBU dance was also practiced. The students actively engaged in the class during the presentation. The results of the pre-and post-test evaluations showed that this lecture method had succeeded in increasing junior high school students' knowledge about medicine and DAGUSIBU. On the other hand, the pre-test scores of Elementary School students were better than the post-test, except for new knowledge related to the drug logo and classification. It suggests that the delivery methods were inappropriate for elementary school students. It can be concluded that school-age adolescents, especially in elementary and junior high schools, need assistance during self-medication. This community service activity by a presentation and comic telling methods successfully improved the knowledge of SMPN 19 Junior High School about drugs and DAGUSIBU; however, it needs a more straightforward explanation with attractive learning methods for delivering a lecture to Elementary School students.

Abstract

In order to succeed in the development of agricultural sector in accordance with the Regulation of the Minister of Agriculture Number 67/Permentan/SM.050/12/2016 concerning Farmer Institutional Development, it is necessary to provide community service in the agricultural sector and plant cultivation as efforts to strengthen food self-sufficiency, especially during the Covid 19 pandemic. For this reason, we need to carry out community service activities for the production of liquid organic fertilizer using microorganism Bacillus cereus in Pantai Cermin Village, Tanjung Pura District. As we know Pantai Cermin Village, Tanjung Pura District, Langkat which about is 63.6 Km from Medan. In general, the majority of farmers own rice and corn areas and are members of the Gemah Ripah farmer group consisting of 30 farmers. From the results of dedication program, there are around 3000 hectares of rice and corn fields that have become a rice barn for the last 15 years, especially in Langkat Regency. Based on the results of the survey and partner interviews, several priority problems were obtained, including: a. There was a decrease in the selling price of corn in Langkat by Rp. 1,900,-/Kg from the selling price of corn in 2019 of Rp. 4,900,-/Kg to Rp. 3,000,-/Kg currently in Langkat; b. Rice farmers experienced a decrease in purchasing power of chemical compost during the Pandemic, because the price of solid organic compost from the Probiodek brand that functions as a decomposer of organic matter rose to Rp. 40,000,-/Kg; c. Farmers experienced a decline in purchasing power of chemical insecticides on the market; d. Farmers in Langkat currently do not have a knapsacksprayer and they only use 2 units of knapsacksprayer from government assistance to spray plant pests & diseases and this tool is used interchangeably for all farmer groups; e. Farming management is carried out in a simple and conventional way, namely using local F1 seeds (yield) from the previous corn harvest); f. Rice harvesting as well as shelling corn use a simple method of rice mill machine. In order to develop the potential of rice and corn barns, it is necessary to strengthen the independence of farmers through community dedication program (PKM) training in the production of liquid organic fertilizer using microorganism Bacillus cereus from Ristekdikti. The focus is to develop production of liquid organic fertilizer as an alternative to chemical fertilizers and chemical insecticides. The use of microorganisms Bacillus cereus is especially useful for facilitating the decomposition of organic matter in liquid fertilizer solutions so that it is more easily absorbed by plants as fertilizer and insecticide, as well as assisting and motivating partners to continuously continue producing liquid organic fertilizers because it saves costs in purchasing chemical fertilizers and pesticides in the future so as to create economic independence for partners. This will certainly improve the economy of farmer group partners so that life can be more prosperous. All of these activities aim to foster independence in partners when the program ends. It is hoped that food self-sufficiency can be realized that is free from residues of chemical fertilizers and insecticides so that environmentally sustainable agriculture can be realized.

Abstract

One of the main factors that cause environmental damage in Indonesia is waste. Reducing waste by burning it directly without an incinerator will cause air pollution for the environment. CO2 is a substance produced by a complete combustion process. The amount of waste produced by Bandung Regency reaches 1,480.1 tons/day, with 20% of the waste being plastic waste. One way to utilize plastic waste is to recycle it into materials to produce paver blocks. Producing paver blocks requires a series of machines, such as crushing machines, plastic melting machines, and pressing machines. Plastic waste that has been sorted is put into a chopping machine and cut into 10 mm pieces. The plastic that has been cut is then melted down and printed, then re-pressed with a press machine. The type of plastic used in this research is polypropylene, with a melting point of 160-170°C. The size of the paver block produced is compatible with the market size. During the production of paver blocks, the CO2 concentration was monitored to see the effect of resin melting. In the analysis of paver blocks' economic potential, we found that the production cost using plastic waste is relatively expensive compared to conventional paver blocks. However, this type of paver block is not harmful to the environment. The results of this study indicate that plastic waste paver blocks can be used as paver block materials because they have quite an impact on the environment, although their economic value cannot compete with conventional paver blocks.
