Abstract

The purpose of this service is to provide assistance related to retail management for traditional traders in Malang Dinoyo Market in order to be able to compete with modern traders. The strategy undertaken is through the stages of customer identification and Dinoyo Market traders, observation and conducting Forum Group Discussions (FGD) with assistance in the form of management of spatial and merchandise management, assistance in preparing simple financial statements and management of merchandise inventory. The result of this dedication is the increasing knowledge of Dinoyo Market traders in selling their merchandise so that the bias can still exist in modern times like today.

Abstract

Class I Malang Correctional Institution is one of the institutions that becomes a means of training for people who have committed crimes or prisoners to return to being a society that has behavior in accordance with both religious and social norms. Penitentiaries carry out 2 types, namely personality development and independence development. The implementation of LAPAS Class 1 independence guidance Malang carries out skills training for all assisted residents so that when the assisted residents leave the LAPAS premises they have skills that can be used to support their lives in the midst of the community. Penitentiaries The role of self-reliance development provides skills by providing guidance in the form of providing material on skills, providing the necessary infrastructure, and directly assisting inmates so that the inmates are able to make crafts well. IN LAPAS Class 1 Malang, the types of skills provided are from wood art, painting, textile art to carving. The branch of art produces products that have high aesthetic value. However, the work of the assisted residents has not been able to be exposed to the wider community so that the holding of this show room assistance can be used as a forum to introduce the results of art skills to the community in order to get appreciation and generate people's purchasing power as well as to provide opportunities for the assisted residents so that their art works have a market in the midst of society so that when the assisted residents return to the community they are able to become a productive society to support their economy. The community service method is carried out by the development method with basic modifications which results in showroom design products that are the skillful works of the community members

Abstract

Coffee is one of the leading export commodities in Indonesia besides palm oil, cocoa and rubber. The quality of Indonesian coffee is among the best in the world, thus placing Indonesia in the top ten producers and exporters of the world. Coffee production continues to increase every year, accompanied by an increase in processed coffee-based products. Among the innovative creations of coffee products are UMKM Sejahtera Sentosa with their coffee jam products. This product received a good response and became the superior product of Malang Municipality. These MSMEs experienced difficulties in the production process when developing jam packaging in the form of sachets and bottles. The community service activity of the State University of Malang helped overcome this difficulty by developing a jam filling device for sachets and bottles. The filling device works semi-automatically with electronic control. The tools developed have been tested and can function according to the needs of industrial partners. UMKM owners and employees expressed their satisfaction with the tools developed and hope to work together again in the next service activity.

Abstract

The purpose of this community activity is to provide education to make simple disinfectant chamber for people who have a lot of potential, especially in preventing the spread of the covid-19 virus. This design consists of a chamber made of an aluminum frame covered with transparent PVC plastic. In order to be entered by an adult human, the size of the design has a height and length of 200 cm and a width of 100 cm. As a disinfectant liquid sprayer, it is equipped with a 2-3 micron nozzle spray and a water pump motor integrated with electronic devices and control systems. The liquid tank is designed to accommodate a mixture of water and disinfectant substances and it is connected to the water pump using a PVC pipe. In the implementation of this community service activity, a video was made about the education of the use and how to make a disinfectant chamber. The results of the prototype and video can be used to facilitate people who want to make disinfectant chambers independently.

Abstract

Provision of organic fertilizers was done as an alternative to reduce dependence on inorganic fertilizers, even though they were substantive in nature. Apart from being one of the solutions to the scarcity of subsidized fertilizers, it was also an effort to increase agricultural production, as well as protect the plant environment from pollution and maintain soil fertility. The production of organic fertilizers from local agricultural waste has been proven and successfully carried out by farmer groups based on visual criteria that are fine-textured, black in color and smell of soil. Testing of the nutritional content of organic fertilizers has been carried out and the results prove that the minimum technical requirements for solid organic fertilizers have been met, so that larger scale production can be carried out by farmer groups. To follow up on this activity, suggestions that need to be made include: (a) the potential for agricultural waste from sugarcane and oil palm plantations that has not been used in the manufacture of organic fertilizers can be used as raw material, so that it will enrich the nutritional content and the novelty of this organic fertilizer; (b) the need for licensing for the production of organic fertilizer for farmer groups requires assistance from the instant dan associated with these authority dan regulation; and (c) the need for good and attractive packaging, so that it will market-oriented. Abstract

Together with Muhammadiyah’s youths of Karangploso as partners, this study proposed an educational and community empowerment program called OMAH MELEK. The approach adapted to OMAH MELEK is a 'problem-posing' approach which is introduced by the infamous critical pedagogy scholar from Brazil: Paulo Freire. This method includes identifying problems close to the subject's life, as well as allowing the subject to deliberatively produce solution for the problems. Instead of becoming an observer, the problem-posing method assign the facilitator an active role in solving problems with the subject. The main objective was to build critical awareness among Muhammadiyah youth members and thus to be critical, sensitive, and participatory. The results of this program indicated that the partners are becoming more active, involved in regional development and have organizational programs that run continuously.

Abstract

Kerinjing Village is one of the villages located in Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. The majority of the villagers' livelihoods are farming rainfed rice fields. The rice fields are still natural, so for their daily activities they also have a side business. Apart from their main job, they have jobs as tailors. This service activity aims to provide training on how to make accessories designs from jumputan fabrics and how to pack. The method of this activity is providing counseling, training, providing equipment and accessories for making accessories to participants. The result of this service activity is that participants have increased skills in making accessory designs.

Abstract

This Community Empowerment Program activity is carried out in order to provide more assistance and provide community empowerment that has been done by partners, namely Mrs. Hj. Asmaul Husna in Sumber Rejo II Rt. 3 Rw 2 Pakal Subdistrict, Benowo Surabaya located no more than 4.1 kilometers from Wijaya Putra University. Krupuk community partnership program partner in Sumber Rejo II Village Rt. 3 Rw 2 Pakal Subdistrict, Surabaya located no more than 4.5 kilometers from Wijaya Putra University, using the surrounding residents as employees and production personnel. The purpose of this Community Empowerment Program activity is to develop SME partners production krupuk Ikan with the target to be achieved is SMEs has capital in the form of a krupuk dryer oven machine to increase production, good business management, expand the market reach, have product design, have a krupuk packaging machine and halal label krupuk products, so that SMEs have the ability to be a business that is ready to meet customer demand and ready to be competent. The methods implemented in this Community Empowerment Program are training and mentoring: training on how to use a krupuk dryer oven machine, packaging machine, business management assistance so that partners become resilient and competitive SMEs. In addition, the manufacture of TTG and adequate production equipment is also carried out in this activity. Training and mentoring activities of business management carried out by including marketing management (potential market identification, promotion, selection of sales locations, entrepreneurship (innovation of krupuk production variations), financial administration (determination of production costs and preparation of simple financial statements) and quality and health management (improvement of production design, testing to obtain halal production label certification). The result of this Community Empowerment Program is expected to increase the income and productivity of the target partner group

Abstract

This community service program centers on the activities of empowering youth groups in response to the COVID-19 pandemic’s impacts on economy. It is intended to target those experiencing the loss of job due to company’s manpower reduction. The program is specifically conducted to the youth group in the village of Kerobokan Kaja, which is located in Badung regency, Bali province. The focus of activities is on the training of making digital design for the products that the participants want to sell and to widen the youth group’s knowledge on the features of online marketing. The participants were involved in the activity of both online meeting and face to face consultation with the strict health protocols since the program is conducted during the pandemic time. The method applied here was the combination presentation, tutorial, discussion and practice. They joined actively in the sharing of tips and tricks to make a digital design using Canva application and of understanding marketing strategies in the marketplace. Despite the limited access of interaction due to the pandemic, the program had given a significant contribution to the participants because they could apply their new knowledge as the alternative to get income while facing the loss of job. Abstract

The elderly experience a decreased ability to carry out independent activities, and the role of the family as a caregiver is needed in helping their care. Caregivers need to obtain information related to knowledge and skills in caring for the elderly, but there is lack of effective media that can be used at this time. Particularly online media which are convenience, flexible and can be used any time by all caregiver at their house. This community service aimed to help overcome the problems of partners, especially the Panca Hebat Elderly Communities in Surabaya. It helps caregivers to meet the care needs of the elderly in the community. The method used developing an android caregiver application for the elderly and training to increase caregivers in caring for the elderly. The elderly caregiver application has been used by 123 users consisting of caregivers and the elderly. The results of the evaluation of socialization and training also found differences in knowledge between participants before and after community service (p-value 0.000). The results of this evaluation indicate that community service related to the use of caregiver applications can increase the knowledge of elderly caregivers.
