Abstract

The results of research at the nutrition installation at Arifin Ahmad Regional Hospital, Riau Province in 2021, the implementation of 5R (concise, neat, clean, well cared for and diligent) has not run optimally, especially in the implementation of Neat, because dangers are still found such as slippery floors and items not being placed in the right place. resulting in the risk of work accidents. This research aims to see the effect of implementing 5R on preventing work-related accidents in the Nutrition Installation of Arifin Ahmad Hospital, Riau Province. This type of research is quantitative analytical observational, with a cross sectional design. The sampling technique was total sampling with a sample of 58 people. The results of the univariate analysis showed that the dominant 5R implementation had not been implemented, namely Neat implementation (69%). Implementation factors that have a relationship to work-related accidents based on bivariate analysis are 5R implementation, level of education and 5R knowledge. The results of the multivariate factors that have a dominant influence on work-related accidents in nutritional installations are that the level of education has a 5-fold risk of experiencing work-related accidents and the implementation of 5R has a 4-fold risk of experiencing work-related accidents. For this reason, efforts are needed to ensure that 5R implementation can be better, by creating SOPs, outreach, supervision during program implementation, and regular evaluations. The hope is that it can increase productivity and prevent work-related accidents at the Arifin Achmad Hospital Nutrition Installation, Riau Province, slippery floors and inappropriate placement of items. This creates a risk of work accidents.

Abstract

Dehydration is a condition that can reduce stamina, concentration, memory, and increase the risk of serious physical disorders. Adolescents are at higher risk of dehydration due to intense physical activity and fluid consumption patterns that are often insufficient. Fluid requirements in adolescents depend on various factors, including age, gender, level of physical activity, environmental conditions, and nutritional status. so special attention to hydration is needed. This study aims to analyze the relationship between nutritional status, fluid intake, and exercise habits with the incidence of dehydration in adolescents at SMP Negeri 1 Indralaya, Ogan Ilir Regency. This study used an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. Data analysis used the chi-square statistical test with a 95% confidence level (? = 0.05). The sample consisted of 110 students. Data was collected through interviews, anthropometric measurements, and assessment of hydration levels using urine color check cards. The results of the study showed that 3.6% of adolescents were malnourished, 40.9 were overweight, 40.9% had an insufficient fluid intake, 80.9% exercised, and 79.1% were dehydrated. The results of statistical tests showed that there was no significant relationship between nutritional status (p=0.266), fluid intake (p=0.845), and exercise habits (p=0.816) with the hydration status of adolescents. Adolescents are advised to get used to routinely consuming water every day, especially before and after physical activity as an effort to prevent dehydration. In addition, it is necessary to avoid consuming sweet or caffeinated drinks that can increase the risk of dehydration. Schools can play an active role by providing easy access to drinking water, as well as providing education about the importance of good hydration for body health and supporting daily activities.

Abstract

HIV testing of pregnant women is an important step to prevent HIV transmission from mother to child.  Examination coverage in Indonesia is still low, influenced by various factors, including family support and support from health workers. This study aims to analyze the influence of family support and health workers on pregnant women's decisions to undergo HIV testing.  This research design uses descriptive analytical methods with a quantitative approach. Of the 231 respondents, only 80 respondents (34.6%) had an HIV test, while the other 151 respondents (65.4%) did not. This research proves that family support has an influence on maternal behavior in HIV testing (r=0.399, p=0.000), meaning that the higher the family support, the better the behavior of pregnant women in HIV testing. Likewise, support from health workers (r=0.096, p=0.000) means that the higher the support from health workers, the better the behavior of pregnant women in HIV testing. Further research is recommended to explore socio-economic factors and pregnant women’s perceptions of HIV screening using a mixed-method approach to gain a broader understanding

Abstract

Early detection of HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) in pregnant women requires facilities and infrastructure that can be used to conduct examinations. This study aims to analyze access to the availability of HIV examination facilities for pregnant women in Gelumbang District. The research design uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Research informants are divided into 2 main informants, 1 key informant, and 1 supporting informant. The accessibility dimension is known that HIV examination services for pregnant women at the Health Center can be carried out during working days and examinations at village midwives can be carried out every day. The availability dimension is known that the availability of the number of rapid test kits at the Gelumbang Health Center is available according to request. The acceptance dimension is known that there is no refusal from pregnant women to undergo HIV examination. The affordability dimension is known that HIV examinations for pregnant women at the Gelumbang Health Center are free of charge. The dimension of adequacy is that the available rapid test tools are sufficient to carry out examinations for all pregnant women in the Gelumbang Health Center working area. The awareness dimension is known that the awareness of pregnant women to independently carry out HIV examinations is still low so that the Gelumbang Health Center makes efforts to increase awareness of pregnant women through counseling and outreach methods. The implementation of HIV examination in the Gelumbang Health Center area has been quite good in terms of accessibility, availability, acceptance, affordability, and adequacy, although there are obstacles in terms of awareness but improvements have been made by the Gelumbang Health Center. All health service facilities are expected to ensure the availability of facilities to carry out HIV examinations for pregnant women to ensure early detection and appropriate intervention.

Abstract

This study compares the direct PCR method with standard PCR to detect Escherichia coli. Escherichia coli is the most widely used organism in biology. Detection of E. coli in water and food is routinely performed, utilizing methods like PCR. The initial stage of PCR preparation involves DNA extraction, which requires a commercial kit. Consequently, this extraction process incurs additional expenses, time, and labor. Therefore, an alternative method is needed, such as direct PCR, which can circumvent the need for DNA extraction. The PCR process facilitates lysis of the bacterial cell wall, releasing nucleic acids, which can then be amplified by Taq polymerase. For the PCR procedure, two groups were formed, each comprising three replicates of the reaction with different DNA templates. The first group utilized a direct culture of Escherichia coli, while the second group incorporated the extracted DNA of Escherichia coli. Our study successfully amplified the metH gene of Escherichia coli without DNA extraction. Electrophoresis analysis revealed that the direct PCR product, sized at 300 bp, appeared more pronounced than the standard PCR product. The findings of this research demonstrated direct PCR as an alternative for detecting Escherichia coli, which would lead to reductions in costs, time, and labor.

Abstract

Macronutrient intake, including carbohydrates, protein and fat, plays an important role in supporting athlete performance and overall health. Previous research has shown that proper nutrition has the potential to improve athletes' endurance and fitness. However, mixed results raise questions about the real relationship between nutrient intake and athlete fitness. This study aimed to analyze the effect of macronutrient intake on athletes' fitness and endurance in Indonesian,  sports teams. This study applied an analytic descriptive design with a population of athletes from various sports in Indonesia. Data were obtained through literature study method. Data analysis was performed statistically to evaluate the relationship between variables. The study showed that there was no significant relationship between carbohydrate, protein, and fat intake and athletes' fitness level, with p values of 0.407 for carbohydrate, 0.523 for protein, and 0.208 for fat, respectively. These results suggest that although macronutrients are important, other factors also need to be considered. These findings emphasize the need to consider other factors, such as training patterns and psychological conditions, in an effort to improve athletes' fitness and performance, in addition to attention to macronutrient intake.

Abstract

Monitoring the nutritional status of toddlers should be done regularly so that they do not experience health problems and are treated immediately. This study aims to describe the determinants of the nutritional status of toddlers in Sukajadi Village, Cisayong District, Tasikmalaya Regency. This research method is descriptive. The samples of this study were 60 mothers and toddlers aged 0-59 months in Sukajadi Village, Cisayong District, Tasikmalaya Regency. Data collection on nutritional status was carried out by anthropometric measurements. Characteristics of mothers and toddlers were conducted through questionnaire interviews. Macronutrient intake with a 24-hour recall interview and SQFFQ. The results showed that most mothers' education in 2022 and 2023 was high school / equivalent, namely 35% and 42%. Most of them were housewives, 85% in 2022 and 73% in 2023. 90% of mothers had a high level of knowledge in 2022 and 68% were in the moderate category in 2023. 78% of children under five were exclusively breastfed in 2022 and 57% in 2023. The majority of mothers practiced appropriate feeding patterns at 60% in 2022 and 72% in 2023. In 2022 and 2023, the energy deficit of children under five was 42% and 43%, the fat deficit was 47% and 48%, and the carbohydrate deficit was 50% and 53%, respectively. Although most children under five have normal and good nutritional status, there is still a high percentage of short and very short stature at 32% in 2022 and 43% in 2023. Further research is needed regarding the magnitude of the influence of these factors on nutritional status so as to provide appropriate interventions for prevention and handling.
