Abstract

This study is aimed at conducting a need analysis on the existence of English materials for the students of elementary level in an inclusive classroom. The data is obtained from inclusive teacher who has ELT undergraduate educational background and the students of pre-service training of PGMI at IAIN Jember. The result shows that teacher takes a very important role in conducting an inclusive classroom in primary level due to the fact that they have to prepare materials and activities specifically for the students who have social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties (SEBD). Listening and speaking skill (oracy cycle) are considered as the first skills to be taught and introduced to the students of primary level in order to be able to make interrelationship with others more easily. English materials that compatible with the students of primary level in an inclusive classroom are the materials that encourage their multiple intelligences and recognize their learning style. The teaching procedure is emphasized on the role play in the form of guided instruction flowing from fully guided, partly guided, to fully free learning so the scaffolding of presenting materials which emphasized on touching their feeling can improve their sense of empathy and sense of taking care of others as well as building their social skill.

Abstract

Basically students have critical thinking skills. Students 'critical thinking skills that are still low are needed in a way so that students' critical thinking skills increase, With the Problem Based Learning learning model in the hope that students' critical thinking skills will increase. the purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of problem based learning in improving students' critical thinking skills. This type of research is Action Research, with the stages of planning, action, observation and reflection. This research was conducted in two cycles, with each cycle consisting of two lessons. The subjects in this study were MTs students. In Ambulu sub-district. Data collection techniques use tests and non-tests. The results showed that student learning outcomes in the first cycle got a score of 45 with very low criteria, in cycle II it increased to 92.5 with very good criteria. Students' critical thinking skills in the first cycle experienced 36% classical completeness with very low criteria, in cycle II it increased to 80% with high criteria. The results of the study prove that the application of the Problem Based Learning model is very effective in improving students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The main aim of the study is to examines the relationship between teacher effectiveness and perceived organizational support in mediating by self-efficacy. Teacher effectiveness is the ability to produce gains on student achievement scores, taking account of a baseline measure of students’ performance. Perceived Organizational Support (POS) refers to employees' perception concerning the extent to which the organization values their contribution and is concerned about their wellbeing. Teacher self-efficacy is meant by teachers’ belief in their own ability to organize and execute courses of action essential to successfully achieving the specific teaching tasks in specific situations. The study is conceptual in nature and the research considers the drivers which motivate the teachers. The population of the study comprised secondary school teachers in Bauchi metropolitan. The proposed method of the study is quantitative which will be use questionnaire. The sample will be composed of males and females’ teachers. The study will adopt the descriptive survey design and all the information will collected through a questionnaire which largely had close-ended questions and one open-ended question.

Abstract

The community needs, the demands for policy, the education system in pesantren have undergone many changes overtimes. However, it was a fact that the community has acknowledged the quality of pesantren graduates. The basic assumption for this was that pesantren graduates have proven sufficient quality because they were educated by qualified teachers. This article examined Teacher Development in Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) including the model of Teacher Development implementation, the barriers, and their impacts. This study applied a phenomenological approach. This study applied a qualitative method by applying the Multi-Site Study at Al-Amien Islamic Boarding School Sumenep, Sidogiri Pasuruan Islamic Boarding School, and Baitul Arqom Islamic Boarding School of Jember, East Java. This study found that the focus of Teacher Development in Islamic boarding schools was unique and more effective than that of the theory of formal teacher development management and formal education institutions which tended to underlined the administrative, bureaucratic and formalistic aspects. The implementation of the management in mu’adalah pesantren was started from planning, recruitment and selection stages, development and coaching comprehensively covered by spiritual and substantial elements.

Abstract

Student leadership is seen to be one of the crucial issues in educational leadership field due to its impact on students, especially for the secondary and tertiary level students. Traits of student leaders are being investigated as one of the factors contributing to the effectiveness of student leadership in school. Categorised as one type of school leadership, student leadership is considered very beneficial for personal development of self-confidence and self-esteem as well as very prudent for the nation. The main purpose of this study is to investigate teachers’ perceptions on student leadership - its definition and benefits - and the shared traits possessed by student leaders. There were two theoretical frameworks used in this study. The first framework is by Northouse (2004) on Traits of a Good Leader, and the second is by Kozes and Posner (2012) on Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership. This qualitative study involved eight respondents who are secondary school teachers from various schools and age groups, using convenience sampling. Semi-structured interview was used in order to gain the teachers’ perceptions. The data was analysed using descriptive thematic approach. The findings revealed that there are ten shared traits of student leaders which are closely related to Northouse’s (2004) traits on good leaders and one concluded definition of student leadership also came out as a result.

Abstract

The awareness of Bondowoso society about the importance of education in put their children into quality Islamic education which is labeled as Islamic schools is not an easy thing for parents to do, since the competition for basic Islamic education in the competitive era is more stringent. Hence, this research is conducted based on the academic anxiety about the Islamic educational, that is on the factors that motivate Bondowoso society in choosing representative basic Islamic education and represent advanced school /madrasah in Bondowoso region that is supported by strategies that have been conducted with its contribution to the society. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The object of this research is MI At-Taqwa Bondowoso. In collecting the data, the researcher uses non-participatory observation, in-depth interviews and is equipped with document and literature review. The technique in processing data is by data classification, filtering data, and analysing data by using interactive model of Miles, Huberman and Saldana, namely data condensation, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of this study showed that there are many factors which is underlying Bondowoso society in choosing Islamic Education, especially in MI At-Taqwa Bondowoso, they are: 1) religious factors such as character education (both moral and performance), its religious / ubudiyah and its religious knowledge is better; 2) general knowledge factors. MI At-Taqwa is able to prove its various achievements to the public. The Parents' impression of MI At-Taqwa is the institution is able to cover the lessons well between general subjects and Religion, the commitment of educators / teachers in managing education has plus value for parents. While the contributions that have made by the school is the existence of various academic and non-academic achievements that have been produced by MI At-Taqwa as real evidence to the progress of Bondowoso society resources.

Abstract

This paper aims to examine the academic supervision of teachers as a step to improve the quality of madrasas. The teacher has an essential role in improving the quality of learning. Teacher quality will significantly affect the quality of knowledge and the resulting output. However, teachers must have capable abilities based on pedagogical, professional, social, and personality competencies. Academic supervision is a routine activity that must be carried out by supervisors and madrasa heads, so the role of supervisors to supervise and foster is very much needed. The part of supervisors is still not maximized in conducting supervision and coaching. This situation has an impact on the quality of teachers in the teaching and learning process, not only that it will affect the quality of madrasas.

Abstract

The destruction of natural and human resources is caused by an imbalance between good relations with Allah SWT (vertical) and between humans (horizontally). The Islamic perspective of social intelligence bridges the imbalance of two dimensions that are related well according to Islam (Hablum Minannas and Hablum Minallah). This study aimed to analyze the need for an integrated science learning process with social intelligence from an Islamic perspective. The research approach used is qualitative with a needs analysis. This study involved 8 teachers spread across MI Thoriqun Najah and MI Nurul Huda Kapongan Situbondo. Data was collected through literature study, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study stated that 1) the teacher's desire to integrate science learning and social intelligence with an Islamic perspective, 2) There are ten basic competencies which are derived from the core competencies of social attitudes (KI-2), which can be integrated into science learning based on social intelligence from an Islamic perspective. This depends on the creativity of the teacher in seeking innovative learning, 3) The most effective method used for learning science-based on social intelligence from an Islamic perspective is the group and demonstration model, 4) Relevant scoring systems can be used for assessment in the social intelligence-based science learning process. Islamic perspective, namely non-test with questionnaires, performance appraisal observations, and portfolios.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that occurred at this time had an impact on the world of education, including the education systwm in Indonesia. Traditional and routine learning that emphasizes the interaction of teachers and students in the classroom and outside the classroom has shifted to distance learning, this of course has positive and negative impacts on students, but what is very visible is the negative impact that arises from students. That is seen from the declining affective abilities of students such as the lack of independence and responsibility of students in learning. This study aims to determine the implementation of distance learning, students’ affective abilities in distance learning. The research method used is a mix method with a concurrent embeded strategy, which combines data analysis and quantitative and qualitative approaches simultaneously, namely the primary approach is qualitative approach and a secondary quantitative approach. This research was conducted at MI Cokroaminoto Banyuresmi Garut with the main research subjects students and teachers, while the principal and parents of students as supporting subjects. This study found that the implementation of distance learning carried out at MI Cokroaminoto was offline and online, the affective abilities of MI Cokroaminoto students showed differences from before and after the pandemic. The affective ability of students in the implementation of distance learning shows the attitude of student discipline, student responsibility, student independence, and student interest and attention shows not well during the process of implementing distance learning.

Abstract

Motivation is a change in energy in a person's personality, characterized by the emergence of feelings (affective) and reactions to achieve goals. Learning is observing, reading, imitating, trying something yourself, listening, following directions. The implementation of online learning is not something new for students. Still, online learning is not as effective as face-to-face learning because online learning is not too free to express problems; this is caused by factors such as internet signals, cellphones / or similar tools which can be used for the internet, and others. This has an impact on student learning motivation. This research aims to find out students' learning motivation in online/online learning during the covid 19 period. The research used in this study is survey research; this study aims to describe/explain events or circumstances. Based on the results of data analysis, students' learning motivation in online learning is the highest or equal to 70% of the average ideal value. This shows that students' learning motivation is less than or equal to 70%. It can be stated that covid 19 has an impact on students' learning motivation.
