Abstract

A language is a communication tool used by humans to exchange information between individuals, both in the form of ideas, feelings, and emotions. Every communication process carried out by humans produces speech acts. This study aimed to describe the communication function and strategy for realizing directive speech acts in the collection of short stories Pandawa Kurawa by Agus Hiplunudin. The method used was descriptive qualitative with a pragmatic theory approach. The data source was a collection of Pandawa Kurawa short stories by Agus Hiplunudin. The data was collected through a reading-note technique which was then analyzed descriptively. The research data analysis was carried out by identifying the data, reducing the data, presenting the data, interpreting the data, and concluding the interpretation results. The results showed that the collection of Pandawa Kurawa short stories by Agus Hiplunudin contains a variety of communication functions and strategies for the realization of directive speech acts. The directive speech act was found in communication functions including advising, asking, demanding, ordering, forcing, suggesting, challenging, complaining, encouraging, and asking. Further, the strategies used to realize directive speech acts include a speech strategy without small talk, a speech strategy with positive politeness, and a speech strategy with negative politeness.

Abstract

Learning materials should optimally accommodate higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) to train students to think critically. The research aimed to describe the content of HOTS in Indonesian language textbooks for eighth grade found in the materials, examples, and exercises. Bloom's taxonomic cognitive theory by Anderson and Krathwohl was used in this study. This type of research was qualitative research with a content analysis approach. The data collection techniques were document analysis and interviews. Data analysis techniques employed model intertwined with the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, withdrawal of conclusions, and return to data collection—techniques of presenting the results of data analysis using informal methods. Data sources were documents that include an Indonesian language textbook for eighth grade published by the Ministry of Education and Culture and Mahir Berbahasa Indonesia textbook published by Erlangga, and informants were Indonesian language teachers. Data validity test techniques used triangulation methods and data sources. The results showed HOTS provided in the textbook published by Kemendikbud, which was 3.8% of the material, 53% of example, and 38.9% of exercise. From the textbook published by Erlangga, HOTS provided 12.6% of the material, 44% of the example, and 33.2% of the exercise. The results reveal that the textbook published by the Ministry of Education and Culture provides more high-level thinking skills content, and Erlangga's book provides more detailed information about students' ability to think at high levels.

Abstract

This study aims to describe and explain the use of language style in two short stories "Aroma Doa Bilal Jawad" and "Kapotjes and Batu Terapung" in Kompas Choice Short Story 2018 "Floating Prayer". The results of language style analysis in both short stories are also intended to find out its relevance as a teaching material of fictional prose for high school students. This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach. Taking research subjects using purposive sampling technique. The data validity test used source triangulation and theory triangulation. This study uses flow data analysis techniques (flow model of analysis). The results showed that there were 12 types of language style with the frequency of data use in the two short stories as many as 54 data. Mesodiplosys and anaphora were the most dominant styles used, with percentages of 22.2% and 20.37%. Anadiplosys style, metonimies style, and hyperbolic language style are the least used language styles, with a percentage of 1%. The results of the analysis concluded that the Kompas 2018 Choice of Short Story Collection (Floating Prayer), especially in the short story titled "Aroma Doa Bilal Jawad", and "Kapotjes and Batu Yang Terapung" are said to be relevant and can be used as literary learning materials in grade XI high school students

Abstract

Language politeness is a rule of behavior that is determined and mutually agreed upon by a particular community. In learning in the classroom requires a polite attitude to communicate, especially in discussion activities. This study was conducted to explain the language politeness of Communication Studies students 2021 A in discussion activities on Indonesian language learning at Abdurrab University. . This type of research is a qualitative research with descriptive method. This research was conducted on students of Communication Studies at Abdurrab University. The data of this research is in the form of utterances spoken by the research subjects. The subject of this research is a student of Communication Science batch 2021 A Abdurrab University. The data collection techniques in this study were tapping techniques, listening-engagement techniques, recording techniques and note-taking techniques. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded as follows: Indonesian language politeness in the presentation and discussion activities of Communication Science students class 2021 A Abdurrab University that there is compliance with Geoffrey Leech's politeness principles, because from (185) speech data, there are (173) speech data of Indonesian language politeness compliance, or in other words, it has a high politeness compliance rate, which is 93.5%, and there are (12) speech data on politeness violations in Indonesian or in other words it has a low politeness violation rate of 6.5%.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the language acquisition of children aged 5 to 6 years influenced by the Minang language and Malaysian language. The research method used was descriptive qualitative by describing children's language skills obtained through interviews with parents and observations. The data was obtained by listening, recording, transcribing, and analyzing. The research subjects were two children named Akbar, aged five years nine months, and Deryl, aged six years two months. The research results showed that the use of Minang language as an influence of his mother tongue and Malaysian language as the influence of the cartoons that he watched continuously in a child's language acquisition, while the use of Malaysian language as the influence of the Malaysian cartoons watched. The conclusion is that the Minang language and Malaysian language influence children's language acquisition.

Abstract

This study was a qualitative descriptive study to describe the design and implementation of problem-based learning models and determine the teachers' obstacles in teaching explanation text of the eleventh grade at SMK Negeri 3 Kudus. The subjects of this study were teachers and eleventh-grade students of SMK Negeri 3 Kudus. The methods of data collection in this study were observation and interview records. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive methods. The research's findings are that teachers arrange problem-based learning models in the lesson plan based on the components of the 2013 curriculum. Secondly, teachers apply problem-based learning models that conform to problem syntax. Third, the obstacles encountered when applying problem-based learning models to teach explanation text came from the teacher's experience in identifying interesting topics and the teacher's ability in the time management needed for learning because this learning model requires a longer time. From the student's point of view, more attention is needed to describe the differences in student abilities. Further, the lack of ability to think critically becomes a challenging obstacle for teachers because the problem-based learning model requires students to be able to think critically.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the stylistic style of Sarcasm in Indonesian memes on Instagram. This study takes a formal object, namely stylistics, and a material object in the form of Indonesian memes on Instagram. The two objects were appointed as research material because they were motivated by meme problems and at least stylistic research in linguistics. The purpose of this study was to determine the analysis of memes through stylistic studies. The method used in this research is descriptive research in the form of qualitative. The data used is in the form of memes taken on Instagram with the condition that the meme uses language styles and language symptoms (majas). The results of this research data analysis are: (1) memes use language as a medium, including written language and images that are mutually supportive for the emotional formation of readers. (2) memes have language style and language symptoms. (3) memes use more than one figure of speech. With the existence of memes in the digital world, such as creating memes in this satirical review, the creative platform for reviews becomes open and diverse. Memes can be humorous as well as thought-provoking material about what's going on. So the meme became a new reaction to the events of the nation, especially in political and social life. Memes clarify attitudes of criticism and irony, but can also create irony and criticism in humour.

Abstract

The anthology of poetry Looking for a Mosque, editors Husnu Abadi and Nopri Ahadi contains 24 titles of poems by well-known Indonesian authors. This work was published as material for a poetry reading competition in commemoration of Islamic Holidays. That is why this anthology of poetry contains many religious themes and Sufistic values. The problem studied is how are the Sufistic values ​​contained in the anthology of the poem Looking for a Mosque? This study uses descriptive analysis and content analysis methods. The results of the study found Sufistic values ​​related to the rituals or worship of Ramadan, Eid al-Fitr, mosques, and the Hajj. Poems about Ramadan worship were embroidered by poets in the poem Malam Qadar by Idrus Tintin, Night of a Thousand Months by Husnu Abadi. Furthermore, Sutardji Calzoum Bachri's Eid-ul-Fitr poem clearly explains about the worship of Ramadan and its night worship and almsgiving can lead one to become His pious servant. The Sufistic value of worship is to draw the servant closer to God, namely Allah SWT (hal taqarrub ilallah). In addition, there are also mystical values ​​related to repenting to God and the low position of servants in front of God Almighty. This anthology of poetry contains maqam wara and maqam zuhud which means the servant's closeness to His Creator because of his special worship and his simple and sincere way of life.

Abstract

This research was motivated by efforts to preserve mantras as part of oral literature. Although the treatment spell still exists in Kuantan Singingi district, it does not rule out the possibility that the spell can be extinct in people's lives someday. This study aimed to analyze the language of medication mantras in Kuantan Singingi district through diction, figurative language, and imagery with qualitative descriptive research. Data was collected through field observation techniques, library studies, interviews, and data recording with two shamans who are heirs as a source of data. The mantra in this study was limited to only the mantra of medication in Kuantan Singingi district, namely spells for ubek togak mato, ubek gombung, ubek katoguran, ubek batuak parangan, ubek kuyang, ubek poruik sakik twisted and babunyi, ubek antu aiar, ubek biring. Based on the study's results, it can be known that the diction in the medication spell has a forming structure in the form of the opening, core, and cover parts. All spell diction in the opening part always begins with Bismillahirrahmanirrahim and closes with Laa Ilaha Illallah. The core section contains tabiks, reverences, or supplications; statement or confession; exclamation; orders, prohibitions, or statements of intent; and oaths and punishments. Figurative language in the mantras of medication were metaphors, personifications, epithets, and antonomasia. Imagery in the mantras of medication was the imagery of vision, hearing, touch, and motion.

Abstract

This study aimed to understand how to implement class-based assessment in the lesson plan that covered class-based cognitive aspects, class-based affective aspects, and class-based psychomotor aspects. This study used research subjects, including lesson plans and essay review materials on Indonesian topics, level 2 high school lesson plans, fiction text materials, and level 3 high school lesson plans with historical text materials. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. The source of data was three lesson plans with different texts and topics. The reserach findings reveal that the first lesson plan does not include a self-assessment sheet that can be used as an instrument in assessing students' effectiveness. In contrast, the second and third lesson plans have fulfilled all assessment forms related to students' cognitive, affective, and psychomotor assessments.
