Abstract

This study aims to improve students' ability in learning to run a short distance of 60 meters short-distance running using traditional games in Grade VIII-C students of SMPN 1 Kutorejo Mojokerto for the 2022/2023 school year. This research adopts the Classroom Action Research (CAR) methodology. The study involves 32 students from Grade VIII-C of SMPN 1 Kutorejo Mojokerto, comprising 18 male and 14 female students. Data collection methods include observation and 60-meter short-distance running tests. The data analysis technique utilizes a quantitative approach by analyzing the percentage of observations, test results, and the classical completeness of students based on the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM). The results indicate that the application of traditional game methods effectively improves the ability of students to run short distances of 60 meters in Class VIII-C of SMPN 1 Kutorejo. In the first cycle, the research achieved a classical completeness rate of 68.75%. This rate increased to 81.25% in the second cycle. The improvement in the ability to run short distances from the pre-cycle to the second cycle was 28,12%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to assess the physical condition of U-15 football players from SSB Kumbang Jaya Kediri after using the circuit training approach. In this study, 16 training sessions were held over a period of 1.5 months, with three meetings per week and two meetings for pre-and post-testing. The approach employed is a one-group pretest-posttest design. Boring sampling was utilized in this study, which was carried out by taking all members of the population as the research sample, namely 20 U-15 SSB Kumbang Jaya football athletes. Technical tests and measurements were used in this study's instruments. The tests used are physical condition tests including muscular endurance (sit-up test and push-up test); explosive power (vertical jump test); speed (sprint running test); and agility (shuttle run test). The analysis technique used is t-test analysis. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant increase in the physical condition of the players after the circuit training method is applied. Based on the table of test statistical results on the paired sample t-test it is known that the significance value (Sig.) of 0,000 is smaller than α (0,05) so it rejects H0. This shows that the physical condition of the SSB Kumbang Jaya U-15 football players improved when the circuit training approach was used.

Abstract

Pencak Silat, a traditional martial art from Southeast Asia, has gained recent popularity, prompting interest in performance enhancement methods. Therefore, The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of carbohydrate-protein supplementation on blood glucose, blood lactate, and creatine kinase levels at the period of recovery after exercise in Pencak Silat Athletes. Materials and Methods: Thirty elite athletes (average age 18-25 years) participated, divided into three groups, each undergoing a 90-minute cycling session at 75% VO₂ max. Participants consumed CHO-PROT, carbohydrate (CHO), or placebo (PLA) drinks 15 minutes before and 45 minutes after exercise. Blood samples were collected before, during, and after exercise. Results: indicated that CHO-PROT and CHO groups exhibited significantly higher blood glucose levels compared to the PLA group (p<0.05), particularly around 75 minutes and 1.5 hours post-exercise. Blood lactate levels did not significantly differ among groups post-exercise. Notably, CHO-PROT consumption led to lower creatine kinase levels compared to CHO and PLA groups (p<0.05), suggesting reduced muscle damage. CHO consumption also demonstrated lower creatine kinase levels compared to the PLA group (p<0.05). Conclusions: CHO-PROT supplementation can elevate blood glucose during post-exercise recovery without influencing blood lactate, highlighting its potential benefits for Pencak Silat athletes.

Abstract

Health literacy, defined as the knowledge, motivation and competence to use health information to improve health and well-being, is associated with regular physical activity. However, there is little evidence on whether health literacy is also associated with motivational readiness for physical activity in the general population. The aim of this study was to investigate whether motivational readiness for leisure-time physical activity is associated with Health literacy. Analyses were based on data from 300 adolescents from cross-sectional data. Motivational readiness for leisure-time physical activity was assessed with stages of change for physical activity with a validated set of items. Health literacy was measured with the short form of the European Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire (HLS-EU-Q16) and categorized as low, medium, and high. Regression analysis was used in this study. The results showed a positive relationship between health literacy, motivation and physical activity level with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.005. High health literacy was positively associated with a more advanced phase of motivational readiness for leisure-time physical activity. Therefore, considering health literacy in interventions to increase motivation for leisure-time physical activity may be a useful approach
