Abstract

The current paradigm shift in higher education mandates that accounting students look beyond technical competencies to cultivate psychological resilience as job creators. This qualitative study, utilizing a case study approach within the Accounting Department at Universitas Islam Malang, aims to explore the efficacy of implementing project-based learning to accelerate students' entrepreneurial spirit. Research data were compiled from business design drafts, independent retail project reports, and the dynamics of collaborative group work. The findings indicate that the syntax of project-based learning successfully internalizes a strong work ethic, sharpens leadership qualities, and heightens awareness of business risk management. Operational hurdles encountered by students served as a positive catalyst to stimulate product creativity and collective problem-solving capabilities, with project success heavily influenced by the adaptation of learning styles in managing conflicts. This study concludes that independent project methods effectively mitigate the job-seeker mentality toward becoming job creators. Its implications underscore the urgency of reconstructing the accounting curriculum through the integration of empirical retail practices to establish a sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem in higher education.

Abstract

Abstract The rapid integration of AI into higher education offers transformative opportunities for active learning pedagogies, particularly Problem-Based Learning, while elevating Digital Economic Literacy. However, the intersection of AI-integrated PBL and DEL remains systematically underexplored. This study presents a Systematic Literature Review to identify, evaluate, and synthesize evidence regarding the implementation and impact of AI-integrated PBL on DEL. Following PRISMA guidelines and the PICo framework, a search was conducted across Scopus, Google Scholar, ERIC, and IEEE Xplore databases. From an initial pool of 173 articles, 35 high-quality, peer-reviewed studies published between 2020 and 2026 were selected for thematic synthesis. The findings reveal five key themes: (1) pedagogical frameworks for AI-PBL integration, (2) AI tools and technologies within the PBL context, (3) impacts on DEL competencies, (4) student engagement and learning outcomes, and (5) challenges and enabling factors for implementation. The review demonstrates that AI-integrated PBL enhances students' critical thinking, digital problem-solving, economic reasoning, and technological adaptability when supported by appropriate pedagogical scaffolding, institutional support, and clear ethical guidance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' needs for the development of teaching materials for the Economic Sociology course in the Economic Education Study Program. A quantitative descriptive method with a survey approach was employed, involving 63 students as respondents. The findings indicate that most students consider the course important (95.3%) and relevant to contemporary socio-economic issues (90.4%). However, 34.9% of the students still experience difficulties in understanding abstract concepts, while 47.6% encounter challenges in obtaining supporting references. In addition, 79.4% of the respondents expect teaching materials that are more systematic, written in clear and simple language (95.3%), and available in an easily accessible digital format (77.8%). Based on these findings, the study recommends the development of an interactive e-book incorporating case studies, visual illustrations, self-assessment exercises, and project-based learning activities.
