Abstract

Evaluation in Arabic language learning is essential to measure students' achievement; however, the quality of tests used in Indonesia still requires improvement. This study employed the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method to analyze the validity, reliability, difficulty level, and discrimination power of Arabic test items, based on a synthesis of six articles indexed in SINTA and Scopus, published between 2019 and 2024. This SLR approach offers a new contribution by systematically revealing national trends and gaps in item quality, which have not been comprehensively analyzed in previous studies. The findings show that on average, 66% of the items were valid, and most tests demonstrated very high reliability (≥ 0.85), although some tests had low reliability (0.54). The distribution of difficulty levels was imbalanced, with 50.83% of items being too easy and only 7.67% classified as difficult, deviating from the ideal distribution. Additionally, 34% of the items exhibited low discrimination power, reducing the effectiveness of assessments in distinguishing students' abilities. These imbalances can lead to biased evaluations and hinder students' competency development. The practical implications of this study include the importance of teacher training in item analysis, the application of Bloom's Taxonomy to balance item difficulty levels, and the development of a standardized, data-driven item bank. The main contribution of this research is to provide empirical foundations for improving Arabic language assessment policies in Indonesia and to propose a more accurate and fair evidence-based evaluation approach.

Abstract

Indonesia faces numerous social problems, which stemming from the same root: character. Therefore, character education was crucial to instill in the next generation. One of the values of character education that can be transmitted to students is the value of heroism and it can be instilled through integration with social studies subjects. Through it, understanding the values of heroism can be presented through learning resources which found in society, such as the stories of Kresnayana and Ramayana. This study aims to examine the values of heroic character contained in the Kresnayana and Ramayana narratives and compare it with the current growing values. This research using literature study as method. The data sources used include interpretations of reliefs, kakawin, and stories that narrate the story of Kresnyana and Ramayana. The heroism character values presented by these two narratives includes courage in facing challenges, courage in defending truth and justice, love of the homeland, willingness to sacrifice, and patriotism. Due to the long gap between the creation of the Kresnayana-Ramayana narrative and the birth of ideas about Human Rights, various adjustments were required both in the presentation of the core message and in the medium for presenting it as a learning resource.

Abstract

This research aims to describe gender equality based on humanity, justice and religion, where men and women must be equal and there should be no difference or more dominant. By utilizing the role of social media, it can be a space for dialogue for gender issues, strengthen the equality movement, and also shape public opinion because the role of social media allows the dissemination of educational messages to encourage critical understanding of the roles of men and women among the younger generation. The method used is a literature study/literature study with a content analysis-based analysis approach that examines the results of research on scientific articles, books, verse fragments in the Qur'an and also ebooks. The results of the study show that gender equality among the younger generation is related to the role of social media as a tool for disseminating information, making it easier to spread gender understanding. In line with the process, the challenge faced from the dissemination of information through social media is the lack of critical thinking to filter incoming information.

Abstract

Reading comprehension literacy is a crucial skill that elementary students must develop to support their learning across various subjects. However, differences in students’ abilities, interests, and preferred learning styles often present challenges to mastering this skill. This study examines the effect of implementing differentiated instruction strategies on the reading comprehension literacy of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri Ujung Tanah 2 in Makassar. The research utilized a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach, involving 30 students from class VA. Data collection was conducted through reading comprehension tests administered before and after the intervention. The results showed a significant increase in the average score, from 33.67 on the pretest to 79.00 on the posttest. A paired sample t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating that the differentiated instruction strategy significantly improved students’ reading comprehension literacy. Nonetheless, 37% of the students did not reach the minimum competency criteria, highlighting the need for further refinement of the approach. In conclusion, while differentiated instruction effectively enhances reading comprehension literacy, it requires ongoing development to better accommodate the varied learning needs of all students.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the forms of semiotic lexical meaning in the hermeneutic code aspect in Roland Barthes' view, in addition to the use of codes to reveal the meaning in the film, the researcher analyzes the moral message in the film "1 Kakak 7 Ponakan". This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach using documentation techniques, unstructured interviews, and observing and taking notes. The phenomenon in this film instills the value of how boys in a family often have financial burdens in society. Likewise, in this film, it is clearly seen the role of Moko as a boy who becomes the backbone of the family after losing both parents. Therefore, in this study, the representative of the analysis will be the role of a boy named Moko. At the ideological level, Moko's character represents hegemonic clarity combined with empathy and concern, indicating a cultural shift that men are not only seen as breadwinners, but also emotional caregivers. The conclusion of this study confirms that the film 1 Kakak 7 Ponakan represents boys as central figures who bear cross-generational responsibilities while simultaneously revealing ideological messages about sacrifice, responsibility, and the transformation of the role of masculinity in Indonesian culture.

Abstract

Children shouldn’t hold biases or prejudices against any group, especially since their social world is still quite limited. However, studies show that color bias can start very early on, as children begin to associate certain colors with negative traits or meanings. This paper was conducted using descriptive literature review method and looked into how these early color associations might teach kids about racism. Previous studies have shown that children are capable of categorizing individuals based on their skin color and assigning specific meanings to certain skin tones, which may lead to the development of bias within the child and ultimately result in the practice of colorism and racism. By reviewing existing research on how children perceive colors, this paper explains how color bias emerges and subsequently develops into colorism. The researchers connected theories of racism, colorism, and children's learning processes with how children absorb information from the surrounding environment, use imitation and influenced by other people. This paper also highlights the importance of the role of parents and educators in breaking the cycle of colorism for future generations by providing education and initiating discussions about colorism before the concept becomes ingrained in children.

Abstract

Intrinsic Cognitive Load (ICL) is a cognitive load inherent in the material and has a positive impact on learning. However, working memory as an active tool that processes cognitive load has limited capacity, and ICL cannot be completely eliminated. Group learning is one of the learning methods that can help manage ICL. Mathematics is one of the subjects with high ICL, including the Pythagorean theorem. This study aims to analyze the forms of teacher intervention during group discussions that support students in managing ICL while constructing the Pythagorean Theorem. The data source of this study consisted of 14 eighth-grade students divided into four groups. The results showed that prerequisite activation, validation, scaffolding, and abstraction in teacher interventions helped eliminate ICL.

Abstract

The Bantengan tradition in East Java functions not only as an aesthetic performance but also as a medium for preserving local wisdom that is currently facing pressures from modernization, commodification, and generational gaps. This study aims to analyze the interaction between aesthetic dimensions and local wisdom in Bantengan, as well as to reveal the dynamics of meaning transformation and sustainability challenges in the contemporary era. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a cultural studies design. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with seven key informants (artists/pawang, traditional leaders, studio managers, and cultural officials) in Malang Regency and Batu City, as well as performance archive documentation. Data analysis applied the interactive model with source and technique triangulation to ensure the validity of findings. The results show that the aesthetic values of Bantengan are manifested in the synergy of kinesthetic movement, gamelan rhythm, and costume symbolism that functions as a medium of collective communication. Local wisdom is reflected in the mechanisms of mutual cooperation (gotong royong), spiritual rituals (nyuguh/nyamuk), and character pedagogy through symbolic combat narratives. However, this tradition faces serious challenges in the form of meaning shifts due to market logic (commodification), declining participation of the younger generation, and friction between sacred dimensions and demands for contemporary entertainment. These findings emphasize the need for adaptive preservation strategies that combine community autonomy, regional regulation, and digital documentation. Theoretically, this article contributes to cultural studies by providing a critical analytical framework regarding the negotiation of aesthetic-local wisdom meanings amid modernization pressures.
