Abstract

This study aims to compare the writing abilities of students in writing Explanatory Texts using the lecture method and the project-based learning method among eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Penaggalan for the 2023-2024 academic year. This research employs a Quasi-Experimental method involving two groups, namely the experimental class and the control class. Data analysis revealed that the post-test scores of students in the experimental class had an average score of 80.71, with the highest score being 95 and the lowest score being 65. Data showed that 29 students scored above the minimum competency criteria (KKM), while 7 students did not meet the KKM. An inferential test and hypothesis test were conducted to determine the differences in students' abilities to write Explanatory Texts using the project-based learning method and the lecture method. Inferential tests indicated that both classes were normally distributed and homogeneous. The hypothesis test using an independent sample test revealed two key findings: the Sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.00 < 0.05. Additionally, based on the t-test assumption, the calculated t-value was greater than the t-table value with α = 0.05 degrees of freedom (df = 69), yielding t calculated > t table at 5.819 > 1.667. The hypothesis test results indicated that Ha was accepted. From these results, the hypothesis or research conclusion states, "There is a significant effect of the project-based learning method compared to the lecture method in writing Explanatory Texts for eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Penaggalan for the 2023-2024 academic year."

Abstract

The involvement of educators in the selection of Prospective Teacher Teachers (CGP) in the Junior Vocational Middle School 5 environment is very low. This is because educators' ability to write essays is very low. Therefore, appropriate learning techniques are needed to improve these skills. Therefore, the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composite (CIRC) technique can be used as the right solution to improve these skills. The method used in this research is descriptive and qualitative in the form of classroom action research. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 5 Vocational Youth and the research subjects were educators who taught at the school. This research process was carried out in three cycles: pre-cycle, cycle I, and cycle II. The results of the research are as follows: The pre-cycle learning completion level was 12.50%, the first cycle was 56.25%, and the second cycle was 81.25%. The essay writing proficiency score increased from pre-cycle to cycle 1 and reached the index in cycle 2. Referring to the results of this research, the Cooperative Integrated Reading and Composite (CIRC) technique was proven to improve educators' essay writing skills. This is also proven by the increase in the number of educators who have experienced an increase in class 10.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the meaning of morality in the film Marlina The Killer In Four Acts by Mouly Surya using semiotic analysis. Using descriptive-qualitative research. Data and data sources in this study were obtained from primary data in the form of soft copies of the film Marlina The Killer in four acts, while secondary data were obtained from books, the internet, and journals. Data collection techniques used are documentation and observation techniques. Data analysis using content analysis and semiotic analysis of Charles Sanders Pierce. Validity of data using the power of observers and triagulation. Based on the analysis of the data used, there are 10 categories of morality from 27 data on the film Marlina The Killer in Four Acts: (1) manners in receiving guests as much as 4 data; (2) loyalty to a partner as much as 2 data; (3) courage that Tinggi sebayak 5 data; (4) never give up in all conditions sebayak 1 data; (5) have a polite attitude sebayak 2 data; (6) filial piety to parents sebayak 2 data; (7) the main responsibility as much as 2 data; (8) feel the loss of as much as 1 data; (9) Spread love to each other sebayak 3 data; and (10) Mutual Assistance sebayak 5 data.

Abstract

In the 13 Years of Mata Najwa program there were four types of nir-gender speech such as stereotypes, discrimination, patriarchy and marginalization. The four types of nir-gender speech is the result of social and cultural construction of society. This often happens, even though women always demand gender equality. Nir-gender speech at the 13 Years of Mata Najwa program is the focus of this research. This type of research is qualitative research with descriptive methods. Data collection techniques are carried out by recording and taking notes. Meanwhile, data analysis is carried out by interpretation, after describing the raw data and classifying the data. As for the results of this research, there are types of nir-gender speech such as: (1) unfortunately women are still often looked down upon (Stereotype); (2) I always ask, why does it seem like women are not allowed to have higher education than men (discrimination); (3) while men are required to have higher education (Patriarchy); (4) It seems that social construction also makes women's dreams very limited and narrow (marginalization).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the educational values in the folklore of Ki Ageng Pandanaran using the sociological approach to literature. The research is conducted to describe the phenomena occurring in the Paseban community in Bayat, Klaten Regency, Central Java Province, Indonesia, through educational values examined via the sociological approach to literature. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method, where the data, categorized from observations, documentation, and interviews, are analyzed and conclusions are drawn. Furthermore, the focus of this study is the folklore of Ki Ageng Pandanaran, particularly its educational values. The data in this study consist of folklore documents and interview results, which are then analyzed using the sociological approach to literature. The research findings include religious educational values, moral educational values, historical educational values, and heroic educational values. The analysis concludes that the educational values in the folklore of Ki Ageng Pandanaran can provide examples and knowledge for daily life. The societal relationships depicted reflect a harmonious, peaceful existence that upholds the teachings of Ki Ageng Pandanaran. The study of educational values in the folklore of Ki Ageng Pandanaran can be related to social disparities to foster social awareness within the community.

Abstract

This research discusses strategies for translating conceptual metaphors contained in Lana Del Rey's song lyrics. The aim of this research is to describe and analyze the translation strategies of conceptual metaphors contained in Lana Del Rey's song lyrics. This research uses qualitative methods with descriptive form. The data in this research are Lana Del Rey's song lyrics which contain conceptual metaphors about love. The data sources in this research are several Lana Del Rey songs. The data collection method in this research uses the lobservation method with note-taking techniques. This research uses data analysis methods by identifying and analyzing the meaning of conceptual metaphors about love contained in song lyrics based on Larson's theory about metaphor translation strategies and appropriate translations. The research results show that the use of translation strategies for conceptual metaphors about love in Lana Del Rey's songs is divided into three types, including (1) Translating metaphors from the source language into similes by adding the words "like" or "like", (2) Translating metaphors from the source language. the same source of metaphor in the target language, but accompanied by an explanation of its meaning, and (3) Translating the metaphor into a non-figurative expression. The most widely used translation strategy is to translate metaphors from the source language into similes by adding the words "like" or "like".

Abstract

The study aims to describe and explain the form of postcolonialism in the short story anthology Semua untuk Hindia by Iksaka Banu using Homi K. Bhabha's thoughts, namely: (1) mimicry and humans, (2) signs taken for miracles, and (3) ancient articulation. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. The data source in this study comes from the short story anthology by Iksaka Banu Semua untuk Hindia. The results of the postcolonialism research of the anthology are based on the dominant order related to the conditions of postcoloniality, namely the strong issue of ambivalence, then followed by mimicry, and finally hybridity. Postcolonialism as a condition and impact of colonialism is strongly attached to the short story anthology Semua untuk Hindia feels dominant because it contains an ambivalent narrative starting from the story of the pre-arrival period of the Dutch East Indies to Indonesian independence.

Abstract

This study examines the Behavior of Talkative Language on Youtube Channel Guest Stars Qiss You TV: Uying Nanang Andis Ade (Trio Latah). The purpose of this study is to describe the types of talk and the factors that cause talk in Chanel Qiss You TV guest star artist: Uying Nanang Andis Ade (Trio Latah) which consists of environmental factors and also infectious factors. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach and a type of descriptive research. The results of this research are: Referring to the talkative language behavior experienced by the interviewees, it includes 2 types of talkativeness, namely talkative colalia and talkative ecoproxia. Talkative behavior can be differentiated according to type, namely Colalia talkativeness and Ecoproxia talkativeness. And the factors causing the source (Trio Latah) on the Qiss You Tv YouTube channel account consist of environmental factors and infectious factors.

Abstract

Women are complex creatures with diverse lives, thus giving rise to a continuous and broad discourse on women's studies. Various approaches are taken to achieve women's liberation, and one of these approaches is the use of literary works. This article aims to examine women's freedom in the novel "Pada Sebuah Kapal" by N.H. Dini using feminist studies. The research method used is qualitative with feminist analysis techniques. The results of the study show that the novel "Pada Sebuah Kapal" focuses on the depiction of women and their rights. Solidarity among women and efforts to rebel against social expectations, this novel encourages deep reflection on the role of women and their rights in a patriarchal society. This is illustrated in quotes that show women's freedom over themselves, and households, women's freedom in education, and women's freedom in the economic field, as well as in communication.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the ecological representation in the novel ‘Srimenanti’ by Joko Pinurbo using Greg Garrard's ecocritical theory. Ecocriticism is one of the theories in literary studies that examines the relationship between literary works and nature and the environment. This approach focuses on how nature is depicted in literature, as well as the impact of human activities on the environment. In ecocritical theory, nature is considered an active agent that interacts with culture, and literary works can be a means to criticise ecological damage and illustrate the interdependence between humans and the environment. This research is important because it can show how literature, such as Joko Pinurbo's, reflects ecological awareness through vivid images of nature and its social relevance. Joko Pinurbo, known as a poet with a simple yet profound language style, often depicts his closeness to nature and social problems related to the exploitation of nature. By using an ecocritical approach, Pinurbo's works can be interpreted as reflections on human relationships with nature as well as criticism of environmental degradation. Therefore, Joko Pinurbo's works have significant relevance in the discourse of literature and ecology, and are important to be further analysed through an ecocritical perspective to understand more deeply their influence on people's ecological awareness.
