Abstract

This study aims to reveal the ideology in Tempo.co media coverage through the representation of actors in the PT Pertamina corruption case. The method used is mixed method, by collecting 10 news texts from Tempo.co using the keywords “corruption” and “PT Pertamina”. A quantitative approach was applied to analyze the corpus data using the AntConc application. In contrast, a qualitative approach was used to identify the representation of actors in the news through Theo van Leeuwen's critical discourse analysis theory. The results of the analysis showed that Tempo.co framed the PT Pertamina corruption case by highlighting three main actors: PT Pertamina as the institutional actor, the Attorney General's Office as the law enforcer, and the state as the aggrieved party. This research also reveals that Tempo.co not only presents facts, but also forms a social construction that reflects anti-corruption ideology and favors transparency and public justice.

Abstract

This study aims to describe overt or direct sexism and indirect sexism in the novel Perempuan yang Menangis kepada Bulan Hitam by Dian Purnomo, using Sara Mills' critical discourse analysis approach. Sexism is understood as language that discriminates against women by depicting them negatively and considering activities related to women as trivial. By analyzing sexism, attention can be drawn to the way language is used to represent women, as well as discrimination against women. This research method is a descriptive qualitative method. The results of the study found five types of overt or direct sexism, namely terms of insult to women, semantic insults, transitivity, reported speech, jokes and six types of indirect sexism, namely humor, presupposition or estimation, conflicting messages, scripts and metaphors, collocations, and androcentric perspectives. The most dominant type is transitivity in the form of objectification of women and androcentric perspective in the form of patriarchy. This work is a critical reflection of social practices that still shackle women in society.

Abstract

The ability of students to apply correct spelling and punctuation remains relatively low, which may negatively impact the quality of critical thinking in academic writing. Therefore, a diagnostic test instrument is needed not only to assess their skills but also to promote higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) in order to strengthen their understanding and application of language rules more deeply. The aim of this study is to develop a guideline for the construction of a diagnostic test on spelling and punctuation based on HOTS. The method used is a six-stage literature study, consisting of: (1) problem identification, (2) literature search, (3) literature selection, (4) literature organization, (5) synthesis and critical analysis, and (6) writing the literature review results. The results of this study include: (1) the development of a diagnostic test on spelling, (2) the development of a diagnostic test on punctuation, (3) scoring techniques, and (4) feedback mechanisms. The scientific contributions of this research are: (1) a systematic development of diagnostic test specifications for spelling and punctuation, with an emphasis on the cognitive levels of HOTS (C4-analysis, C5-evaluation, C6-creation), (2) the direct integration of the Indonesian Spelling Guidelines with HOTS indicators, making the test not only normative but also reflective and productive, and (3) the combination of multiple-choice and open-ended (C6) question formats in one diagnostic system — in accordance with the principles of multiformat assessment.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that myths have a historical foundation in society in the form of speech as a message, not only verbally, but also in the form of writing or images that have meaningful signs, one of which is the myth that is poured into children's literature. Children's literature tells past stories, whether in the form of legends, fairy tales, and folk tales and is closely related to myths that are still relevant to the present. The research aims to describe and explain the myths contained in the folklore of Murti Bunanta using Roland Barthes' thoughts, namely: (1) Myth as Stolen Language, (2) Myth as De-Politicized Speech, and (3) Inevitability and Limits of Mythology. This research method uses a qualitative descriptive method. Folklore of Murti Bunanta: Si Molek, Putri Mandalika, Ni Terong Kuning, Suwidak Loro, Topitu, and Senggutru as data sources. The results of the study Myth as Stolen Language and presenting events that connect the driving of the reasons or motives of the characters, Myth as De-Politicized Speech presents the driving of the character's actions towards the characters who play a role and are clearly strong and dominant. Inevitability and Limits Mythology is more dominant in showing events carried out by characters in unreasonable things. Myths are interpreted as uncertain meanings or other purposes, continuing to develop to convey messages.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of pronominal clitics in Bobo Magazine's short story collection and see its potential in supporting the Indonesian language learning process in phase B of the elementary school level. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques in the form of literature study. The data analysis technique uses literature study with listening and recording techniques. The data of this research are pronominal clitics found in short stories published in Bobo Magazine from February to April 2025, namely: 1) Idol Hero, 2) Grandfather's Barong Mask, and 3) Half Day Fasting. The results show that there are two types of pronominal clitics, namely proclitics {ku-}, {kau-} and enclitics {-ku}, {-mu}, {-nya}, with uneven distribution. Enclitics, especially {-nya}, are most dominantly used, reflecting the use of third-person point of view in children's short story narratives. In contrast, the form {kau-} was absent and {-mu} appeared in limited numbers, indicating a subtle and indirect narrative tendency in children's communication. The conclusion of this study is that pronominal clitics, with their rich variety of forms and functions, have great potential to be utilized as teaching materials that are contextual, functional, and in accordance with students' cognitive development level.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the growing popularity of Instagram influencers (selebgram) in Indonesia, including in Lombok, who have now become role models and promotional media for various business sectors. The aim of this study is to analyze illocutionary speech acts, gender dominance, and the interests of the Lombok community as reflected in their engagement with selebgram content. Data were collected through observation and documentation, then analyzed using content analysis methods. The study reveals three main findings. First, selebgram in Lombok are predominantly female, with popular content focusing on fesyen, culinary arts, tourism, and entertainment. Second, female selebgram tend to use more commissive and expressive speech acts, while male selebgram are more inclined to use assertive and expressive forms. Third, Instagram audiences in Lombok show greater interest in following female selebgram and favor entertainment-related content. This study indicates that the popularity of selebgram in Lombok shapes communication patterns that reflect gender differences and, pragmatically, influence audience interests in the digital sphere. These findings highlight the importance of linguistic studies in understanding the role of selebgram as representations of popular culture and constructions of gender identity on social media.

Abstract

This article aims to reveal the dynamics of desire, trauma, and absurdity in the character Ale through an interdisciplinary approach between Jacques Lacan's psychoanalysis and Jean-Paul Sartre's existentialism. The scope of the study includes narrative and psychological analysis of the main character in the novel Seporsi Mie Ayam Sebelum Mati by Brian Khrisna. The method used is content analysis with close reading techniques on relevant text units. Data were obtained from narrative excerpts, monologues, and dialogues that reflect the psychic structure and existential reflection of the character. The results of the study show that the act of eating chicken noodles is not merely a form of escape, but a symbol of desire born from past trauma (Lacan) and authentic choices in facing the absurdity of life (Sartre). An interesting fact in this finding is that the symbols used by the author in the novel add depth to the meaning as a representation of loss, longing, and the formation of existential meaning. This study confirms that popular fiction can be a medium for reflection on the complexity of the human mind, while also showing the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in contemporary Indonesian literary studies.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the quality of the creative writing assignment instrument for literature in the Indonesian Language Student Book of the Independent Curriculum Phase F (grades XI and XII), especially in terms of construct validity and cognitive level classification based on Brown's Creative Writing Taxonomy (C1–C3). The study used a qualitative approach with a document analysis method, with the main source Cerdas Cergas Berbahasa dan Bersastra Indonesia for grades XI and XII. The focus of the analysis was on four types of literary writing assignments: writing short stories from personal experiences, composing poetry based on short stories, writing drama scripts from short stories, and writing short stories with environmental themes. The results of the study showed that most assignments were at the C2 level (functional), with guided writing demands but still providing limited space for expression. Content and construct validity were relatively high because the assignments generally represented literary skills such as building plots, creating characters, and using language styles. However, the absence of an explicit assessment rubric and the lack of assignments at the expressive level (C3) indicated a gap between the curriculum aspirations and the available forms of assessment. Therefore, improving assignment design and developing measuring instruments that support ideational creativity is very necessary so that assessments are more authentic and in line with learning outcomes in the Independent Curriculum.
