Abstract

This study aims to analyze the accuracy of the short backhand serve among male junior badminton athletes at Angkasa Pura Club Medan. The research seeks to provide insights into the factors influencing serve accuracy and their contribution to match performance. A qualitative approach was employed, involving 30 athletes aged between 13 and 17 years. Data were collected through direct observation during training sessions, semi-structured interviews with 10 athletes and 3 coaches, and accuracy measurements using predefined serve targets. The results show variations in the accuracy of the short backhand serve, influenced by technical, physical, and mental factors. Common errors included lack of concentration and suboptimal technique. From the data analysis, it was concluded that mastery of basic serve techniques significantly impacts accuracy, highlighting the importance of repetitive serve practice. This study aims to provide recommendations for developing training programs in badminton clubs to improve athletes' serving skills.

Abstract

Objective. The point of this study is to find out what students in the Faculty of Sports Science at Universitas Negeri Medan (UNIMED) think about badminton being their favorite sport. Materials and Methods. Findings were gathered using a qualitative method, with 30 current badminton-playing students taking part in interviews, participatory observations, and documentation studies. The results show that national successes in badminton at the world level for Indonesia, like those of famous athletes Susi Susanti and Taufik Hidayat, are what really get students interested in the sport. Students are also interested because playing badminton is a family and community tradition that goes back to early childhood, and there are tools on campus that make it easy for students to do so. Students also see badminton as a good way to make a living, either as a player or in sports management. Students have positive views about badminton because of the social setting on campus, which includes support from peers and teachers. This study gives us information about what makes students interested in badminton, which can be used to help plans sports programs at colleges and universities. One of the best things about this study is that it focused on a clear group of students who were regularly playing badminton. This allowed for more in-depth qualitative insights into how they felt. Using more than one way to collect data, like talks, observations, and written records, makes the data more reliable and complete. One problem with the study, though, is that it only had 30 subjects, which may not fully reflect the views of young people in general. Also, the study only looked at Universitas Negeri Medan. This means that the results might not apply to other schools that have different sports cultures or equipment. For future research, it is suggested that the sample size be increased to include students from more than one university. This would give researchers a more complete picture of why college students like badminton. Researchers could also look at the points of view of students who play other sports to make comparisons and learn more about how people in classroom settings generally feel about sports. Results. The results of this study show how important it is for academic programs to support sports like badminton because they help students grow personally and professionally and could lead to jobs in athletics, coaching, and sports management. Conclusins. This study shows that the social setting, Indonesia's badminton achievements, culture, and the availability of facilities all play a big role in why students at the Faculty of Sports Science, Universitas Negeri Medan (UNIMED) think badminton is their favorite sport. Encouragement from classmates, teachers, and parents, along with the setting up of events, are also big parts of getting students to participate. Overall, badminton is seen not only as a sport but also as a way to improve social skills, learn new things about yourself, and look into job prospects. These results can be used to help create sports programs in colleges and universities that will get more students to play badminton and other sports.

Abstract

Objective. of this study is to evaluate the effect of ball handling training on dribbling skills in the SMPN 1 Labuhan Haji basketball squad. Materials and Methods. This study employs a quantitative experimental method, namely a One Group Pretest Posttest Design. Data gathering methodologies and tools utilize assessments aimed at evaluating student learning outcomes. An tool of this nature comprises ball handling tasks designed to assess pupils' dribbling proficiency. Results. The evaluative analysis indicated that the mean pretest score was 63.73. After the execution of a ball handling training program, the posttest results revealed a significant enhancement, yielding an average score of 86.06. Thus, the posttest score exceeds the pretest score, signifying a significant enhancement in the dribbling abilities of the SMPN 1 Labuhan Haji basketball squad. Research findings This indicates that exercise ball handling in connection to dribbling proficiency substantially affects the SMPN 1 Labuhan Haji basketball team, as demonstrated by the hypothesis testing findings using the t-test, which produced a significant value of 0.000, signifying it is below 0.05. The findings demonstrate the rejection of H0 and the acceptance of Ha, indicating that ball handling training significantly influences the dribbling skills of the SMPN 1 Labuhan Haji basketball team. Conclusion. This is evidenced by statistical analyses that indicate significant disparities. This suggests that training concentrated on ball handling can markedly improve players' abilities in ball control and dribbling. This training has proven successful in improving basketball teams' dribbling performance on the court. It is recommended that more complex and dynamic ball handling training variations be adopted. Moreover, doing video analysis of matches and collaborating with skilled trainers can substantially improve the dribbling skills of the basketball players at SMPN 1 Labuhan Haji.

Abstract

Objective. This study is a development initiative focused on enhancing learning outcomes via mobile learning, specifically targeting the domain of sports science, with an emphasis on sports physiology courses. Materials and methods. The method employed will be a quantitative approach, utilizing the Research & Development (R & D) framework as outlined by Sugiono. This involves product development and testing to assess the effectiveness of the products in meeting the desired objectives. Results. The developed media is a learning application designed to assist students in studying sports physiology courses, whether online or offline. This teaching material includes lecture content organized by topic, instructional videos showcasing various learning methods, quizzes, and additional resources that facilitate both online and offline learning experiences. The expectation is that the application will serve as an alternative for both online and offline learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The media developed within the application encompasses all lecture materials, presented through video tutorials, videos, various learning formats, quizzes, and additional resources related to the sports physiology course. Conclusion. This concept arose from the necessity to adapt learning methods during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, despite the absence of face-to-face interaction and direct practice. Consequently, it became essential to create application-based teaching materials for sports physiology courses, enabling instructors responsible for futsal courses to deliver content effectively through both online and offline platforms. This application will significantly enhance accessibility for students, streamlining their ability to obtain all online lecture materials.

Abstract

Objective. Physical education is an educational process that is designed to enhance the overall development of individuals by fostering their physical, mental, and social well-being. Physical education encompasses a diverse array of physical activities, including running, leaping, and exercising, that contribute to the enhancement of an individual's overall physical fitness. The objective of this investigation is to evaluate the enhancement of learning outcomes associated with particular chest pass movements in basketball games by employing a play-based methodology. The learning outcomes of chest transfers in basketball games will be examined in this study in relation to the play approach. Materials and Methods. This investigation implements the classroom action research (CAR) methodology, employing class XF of SMA Negeri 6 Semarang, which comprises 21 female students and 15 male students. Data was gathered through the use of data collection instruments, such as observation sheets and tests, during the observation and measurement stages. Results. The study's findings indicated that the play approach method can enhance the chest pass skills of students. Prior to employing the play approach, the average value indicated that 39% of students had completed the course, while 61% had not. The percentage of students who completed cycle I increased to 67% after the play approach was implemented, while the percentage of students who did not complete cycle I was 33%. The percentage of improved chest pass learning outcomes in basketball games was achieved through the play approach during the second cycle stage, which made use of the same treatment. Conclusion. The results of the treatment cycles I and II indicated that the learning outcomes for chest passes in basketball games were improved through a playing approach.
