Abstract

Dental caries is an infectious disease resulting from the demineralization of enamel and dentin, closely linked to the consumption of cariogenic foods. Typically, children entering school age face a heightened risk of caries due to their inclination toward snacking on sweet foods and drinks. The implementation of Dental Health Education (DHE) plays a crucial role in enhancing students' comprehension of dental and oral health. Specifically, educating children on proper teeth-brushing techniques should include practical examples and applicable methods. This study aims to assess the impact of dental health education on the behavior and fecal index of students at SDN Mesjid Lheu in Aceh Besar District. Employing a quasi-experimental design, the research follows a control group equivalent to pre-test and post-test. The total population of 60 children was divided into two groups: the intervention group and the control group. Quantitative data analysis involved the paired sample t-test and the independent t-test. Significant differences were observed in the mean values of knowledge, attitudes, and actions, as well as the OHI-S scores immediately after and one month following the intervention between the treatment group and the control group (p<0.05). To reinforce children's dental health habits at home, it is advisable to involve parents in dental health education programs, as their information and resources are integral to providing support and monitoring.

Abstract

Despite the susceptibility of the elderly to COVID-19, vaccination coverage in this age group is still far from Indonesia's national target. This research studied the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccine in Teluk Dalam, South Nias District, in 2021 and analyzed the relationship between knowledge, attitudes, and behaviour of the elderly towards implementing vaccination. It was a mixed-method study with an explanatory design. The population of this study included the elderly in Teluk Dalam, with a total of 33 people serving as research samples and three informants for qualitative data. Data were obtained by administering questionnaires and interviews, analyzed by the SPSS statistical tool with chi-square test at α = 5%, and compared with the collected qualitative data. The results showed that the elderly in Teluk Dalam's knowledge of implementing the COVID- 19 vaccine was still low, with negative attitudes and behaviour. There was a significant relationship between knowledge, attitudes and behaviour of the elderly towards implementing COVID-19 vaccination in Teluk Dalam, South Nias District (p <0.05). It is recommended that the elderly attend counselling given by health workers so that they can increase their knowledge about the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination and change their attitude and behaviour and want to take part in the COVID-19 vaccination and health workers to provide information about the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccine to the public, especially the elderly more specific.

Abstract

The Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) in Indonesia is still around 305 per 100,000 Live Births, which has not yet reached the set target of 183 per 100,000 LB in 2024. One of the causes of this high rate is attributed to the anxiety experienced during pregnancy, reaching 373,000 cases. Antenatal hypnotherapy is an effort aimed at reducing maternal anxiety with the goal of preparing for a normal pregnancy and facilitating the labor process. Hypnotherapy in Antenatal care focuses on providing comfort to mothers by inducing deep relaxation. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of antenatal hypnotherapy in reducing anxiety during the labor process at PMB Pera Medan. The research employed a quantitative approach with a Quasi-Experimental Design (pseudo-experiment). The study utilized a One Group Pre-Test and Post-Test design. The population consisted of all third-trimester pregnant women at PMB Pera Medan, totaling 61 pregnant women, with a sample size of 16 selected through purposive sampling. The research findings indicate that the average anxiety level among third-trimester pregnant women at the Independent Practice of Midwife Pera Medan before receiving antenatal hypnotherapy was 30.1875 (moderate anxiety), which decreased to 13.8750 (mild anxiety) after receiving antenatal hypnotherapy. There is a significant influence of antenatal hypnotherapy on reducing anxiety during labor at PMB Pera Medan with a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05. Therefore, it is advisable to continue antenatal hypnotherapy classes for pregnant women during each ANC visit and at home to reduce anxiety, thereby facilitating a normal labor process.

Abstract

Patient Safety Incident Reporting for improvement of the service system and prevention of recurring patient safety incidents is a very important part and affects the quality of service, so it is necessary to evaluate the implementation of the ICP reporting system at the hospital. Objective: To ascertain the elements that impact hospital patient safety event reporting.  Method: This article was written utilizing a literature review methodology. Data was gathered from database sources, and 20 articles between 2018 and 2023 were examined for PICOT analysis using the keywords patient safety incident, reporting, and health service. Results: There are three elements that affect the reporting of patient safety incidents that take place in hospitals: government, organizational, and human factors. It can be observed from features of nurse skills and patient safety culture in addition to environmental influences (individuals, organizations, and government). Cultural barriers (avoidance of conflict and fear of being blamed and penalized) and practical barriers (lack of expertise, so officers do not know how to report occurrences, lack of feedback, and lack of socialization connected to reporting incidents). Discussion: As a result of the existing literature review, no one has discussed the existence of organizational/hospital and government targets in efforts to achieve the target percentage (%) of PSI reporting. In order to improve employee motivation and involvement in reporting patient safety incidents and, ultimately, raise the standard of care provided to hospital patients, more research is required regarding the implementation of patient safety incident reporting in hospitals. Conclusion: The reporting of patient safety incidents in hospitals is influenced by three factors: personal, organizational, and governmental. Lack of feedback has been recognized as one of the weaknesses in incident reporting.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding for babies aged 0-6 months is very beneficial both for the baby as immunity and for the mother to prevent breast cancer and other diseases. Existing data shows that there is still a low number of mothers who provide exclusive breastfeeding, around 48% of babies aged < 6 months do not receive exclusive breastfeeding. Urgency of Research, low coverage of the success of exclusive breastfeeding both at the national level, 65%, provincial and at the research location; the majority of mothers lack knowledge in efforts to successfully provide exclusive breastfeeding; It is still felt that the methods and media used in exclusive breastfeeding education are very monotonous and require holistic and continuous education. Peer education takes the form of in-depth sharing with peers as informants so that mothers absorb information well. Peer education can increase BSE and mother's motivation in breastfeeding. This type of research is quasi-experimental with a pre-post non-control group approach. The aim of this research is to analyze the effectiveness of peer education using the health belief model approach on the success of exclusive breastfeeding. The location of this research is Cinta Damai Village, Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency. The population of this study were all mothers who breastfed babies aged <6 months, using a total sampling technique. Hypothesis testing in this research uses a different test (Independent Sample T-Test). The research results found that peer counseling using the health belief model approach was effective in increasing maternal knowledge, attitudes about the success of exclusive breastfeeding (p-value 0.00) and the achievement of exclusive breastfeeding.
