Abstract

Background: The problem often experienced by families of people with mental disorders (ODGJ) is increased anxiety in caring for them, such as tension, worry, fear, sleep disturbance, impaired intelligence, and depression. Family knowledge and attitudes towards ODGJ are considered important factors that can affect the level of family anxiety in caring for them. This study aims to examine the relationship between family knowledge and attitude towards the level of anxiety in caring for family members with mental disorders (ODGJ). Methods:This study used a quantitative method with a cross-sectional approach. Data were collected through questionnaires, namely knowledge referring to Maromon's research (2020), attitudes referring to Safitri's research (2022) and anxiety levels using the HARS (Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale) questionnaire with a sample of 97 families who have members with ODGJ in the andalas puskemas area. Data analysis was performed using the Chi Square test. Results: The results obtained were more than half, namely 56 (57.7%) respondents had a mild level of anxiety, more than half, namely 54 (55.7%) respondents had low knowledge, more than half, namely 58 (58.9%) respondents had a negative attitude in caring for people with mental disorders (ODGJ). There is a relationship between knowledge (p = 0.000), attitude (p = 0.000) with family anxiety level in caring for ODGJ. Conclusion: It is expected that nurses at the health centre can provide health education on how to care for ODGJ at home and can help reduce their anxiety in daily care.

Abstract

Background: Interprofessional collaboration is a key element in providing high-quality patient care. Interprofessional Collaboration (IPC) practice is a form of collaborative cooperation between health workers to ensure optimal patient care. Professional Care Providers (PCP) with different professional backgrounds are required to contribute individually and in teams. This study aims to determine the description of team collaboration practices between PCP in implementing Interprofessional Collaboration at the Hospital. Methods: This study used a qualitative design with a phenomenological approach to explore interprofessional collaboration practices at the Hospital. Data collection was carried out through in-depth interviews and Focus Group Discussions. The collected data were recorded, transcribed, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The research informants numbered 12 people, consisting of 3 hospital services in charge of doctors, 3 nurses, 3 pharmacists, and 3 dieticians. The study took place in October–November 2024. Results: The result of the study showed that interprofessional collaboration at the Hospital had not been running optimally. Joint visit activities involving the four professions were very rare. The number of pharmacists and dietitians who should support collaboration were not sufficient in quantity. The clinical competence of nurses in supporting collaboration was still not fulfilled. Most PCP did not understand the concept of IPC well, the dominance of collaboration tended to occur among doctors and nurses, while other professions were less involved. Factors that hinder the optimization of IPC include a lack of understanding of the concept of collaboration, the small number of certain health workers such as pharmacists and dietitians, and the lack of special training related to IPC. Conclusion: Hospitals need to make efforts to improve understanding and implementation of interprofessional collaboration through education, training, and strengthening policies that support IPC practices. Socialization of regulations and implementation of Interprofessional Collaboration needs to be carried out periodically so that PCP understands the concept of IPC well. Routine evaluation is also important to ensure the effectiveness and sustainability of interprofessional collaboration in health services

Abstract

Background: Practice Of Providing Complementary Breast Milk (PPC-BM) plays an important role in supporting the growth and development of infants aged 6-12 months. WHO and the Indonesian Ministry of Health recommend providing PPC-BM that is timely, nutritious, safe, and meets standards. However, many mothers still face obstacles in providing optimal PPC-BM, especially due to lack of family support. Family support, especially from husbands, grandmothers, and other family members, greatly influences the success of PPC-BM practices. Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between family support and complementary feeding practices in infants aged 6-12 months in the Gulai Bancah Health Center working area, Bukittinggi City. Method: This study used a cross-sectional design with a quantitative approach. Samples were taken using cluster random sampling technique, with a total of 222 mothers with infants aged 6-12 months as respondents. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire that measured family support (emotional, instrumental, information, and assessment) and complementary feeding practices. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-Square test to see the relationship between variables. Conclusion: the results of the study showed that most mothers received family support in the good (54.1%), sufficient (36.0%), and less (9.9%) categories. The practice of providing complementary feeding by mothers was also mostly in the good (58.6%), sufficient (31.5%), and less (9.9%) categories. Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between family support and complementary feeding practices (p-value <0.05). Mothers who receive good family support are more likely to provide appropriate complementary feeding according to WHO and Indonesian Ministry of Health standards. Family support plays a crucial role in determining the success of complementary feeding practices that meet health standards. Suggestion: a family-based education strategy is needed through counseling programs, training of integrated health post cadres, and community-based interventions to increase family involvement in complementary feeding practices. Keywords: Family support, complementary feeding, provision practices, infants aged 6-12 months, pediatric nursing.
