Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the principal’s visionary leadership in improving the quality of education at SD Negeri Jrebengkembang, Karangdadap District, Pekalongan Regency. The research employed a qualitative descriptive approach with a case study design, enabling the researcher to gain an in-depth understanding of visionary leadership practices within the real context of an elementary school. The study focused on four main dimensions of visionary leadership: the principal as a formulator of vision, a driver of change and innovation, an effective communicator, and a mentor who fosters teachers’ professionalism. Data were collected through direct observation of leadership activities at school, in-depth interviews with the principal, teachers, students, and the school committee, as well as document analysis covering the school’s vision and mission statements, work plans, and supervision reports. Data analysis followed the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldana (2014), which consists of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings indicate that the principal implemented a coaching-based leadership approach emphasizing teacher empowerment, professional reflection, collaboration with the community, and the reinforcement of a religious and character-driven school culture. This approach effectively enhanced both teacher and student motivation, improved the learning climate, and fostered a shared sense of ownership toward the school’s vision. The study concludes that the integration of visionary leadership and coaching practices can transform schools into adaptive, innovative, and sustainable learning communities, while contributing both theoretically and practically to the advancement of educational management quality in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Outcome-Based Education Curriculum (OBE) in the development of the Islamic character of students of the Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Teacher Education Study Program (PGMI) at UIN Jurai Siwo Lampung. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with PGMI study program leaders and lecturers, observation of the learning process, and analysis of curriculum documents, which included Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL), Semester Learning Plans (RPS), and assessment instruments. Data analysis was carried out thematically with data reduction techniques, data presentation, and a conclusion drawn, and validated through triangulation of sources and techniques. The study reveals that the OBE curriculum in the PGMI program has successfully integrated Islamic character values, faith (tawḥīd), morality (akhlāq), and social responsibility into graduate learning outcomes and active learning strategies. However, implementation remains suboptimal due to uneven faculty understanding of the OBE paradigm and a lack of standardized instruments for measuring affective and spiritual growth. This research concludes that while OBE effectively fosters 21st-century skills aligned with Islamic values, its success in character building fundamentally requires systematic enhancement of lecturer capacity and the development of structured, contextual assessment tools.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the transformation of English-based Kitab Kuning learning methods through the integration of pesantren traditions and the modernization of instruction in Islamic boarding schools. Employing a qualitative approach with a case study design, this research was conducted at an Islamic boarding school that actively implements both traditional and modern educational practices. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis to obtain comprehensive and credible findings. The results reveal that the transformation process is carried out through several strategic steps, including the integration of traditional pesantren values with modern pedagogical approaches, the development of an adaptive and integrated curriculum, and the enhancement of teachers’ competencies in both religious and English language instruction. In addition, the use of English as a medium of instruction in Kitab Kuning learning encourages students to access broader Islamic intellectual resources at the global level. This transformation has a significant impact on students’ cognitive, linguistic, and cultural competencies. It not only strengthens their understanding of classical Islamic texts but also improves their English proficiency and intercultural awareness. Furthermore, this approach prepares students to actively participate in global Islamic discourse and da’wah in the contemporary era.

Abstract

This study explores strategies to strengthen organizational culture based on Islamic values and the role of students at Pondok Pesantren Aulia Cendikia Talang Jambe Palembang. Using a qualitative approach with a case study method, primary data was collected through interviews with kiai, ustadz, administrators, santri, alumni, and the local community. Secondary data was gathered from books, journals, research reports, articles, and related documents. Data was analyzed using thematic analysis and the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The results show that organizational culture is formed through externalization, objectification, and internalization in pesantren life. Externalization is seen in religious, academic, and social activities; objectification is found in rules, traditions, and organizational structures; and internalization is reflected in students' behavior, making them more disciplined, responsible, and morally aware. The leadership of the kiai, role modeling, and consistent habituation are key factors in strengthening the organizational culture. Additionally, integrating traditional and modern curricula shows the pesantren's ability to preserve core values while adapting to modern changes. These findings highlight the importance of organizational culture in shaping student character and provide a reference for managing adaptive and sustainable Islamic education.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze teachers' strategies in internalizing religious values through Islamic Religious Education learning at MI Tarbiyatul Athfal East Lampung Regency, Lampung Province, Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach to gain an in-depth understanding of the strategies implemented by teachers in strengthening students' religious character. Data was obtained from primary sources, including PAI teachers, madrasa heads, and students, as well as secondary sources such as learning implementation plans, assessment documents, and school activity records. Data collection techniques consist of classroom observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies. The data were analyzed using an interactive model involving data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions to ensure systematic interpretation of the findings. The research results show that teachers apply integrative strategies in internalizing religious values. These strategies include value-based learning planning, use of participatory and contextual teaching methods, implementation of religious habituation programs, teacher examples, and ongoing behavioral evaluation. These strategies have been proven to make a positive contribution to the development of students' religious character, especially in improving religious discipline, honesty, responsibility, and social attitudes. However, the effectiveness of this strategy is still influenced by several external factors, such as variations in students' family backgrounds and the increasing influence of digital media in everyday life. This research contributes to the development of discourse on the internalization of values in Islamic education by offering an integrative learning model. Practically, these findings provide a framework that can be applied to strengthen character education in Islamic elementary schools.

Abstract

his study examines how religious and nationalist character formation is cultivated through school culture at SMP Mamba’us Sholihin Tuban, an Islamic junior high school in Indonesia. Moving beyond program-based character education, this research conceptualizes character formation as a sustained cultural process embedded in daily school practices, norms, symbols, and leadership models. Using a qualitative approach and case study, the data for this study were collected from the Principal, Vice Principal, Teachers, and Students of SMP Mambaus Sholihin Tuban, through in-depth interviews, document analysis, and observations of school activities. Data were processed using content analysis, presentation, and conclusion drawing, supported by triangulation of sources and techniques to ensure credibility. Interviews were conducted with school leaders and administrators, teachers, and students, and observations were conducted. Data were analyzed using qualitative methods validated through triangulation of sources and techniques, then interpreted based on selected theories. The findings reveal that religious and nationalist values are not treated as separate domains but are integrated within a cohesive school culture shaped by routine religious practices, civic rituals, teacher role modeling, and institutional regulations. This integration fosters students’ spiritual discipline, moral responsibility, and national commitment simultaneously. The study confirms the relevance of Character Education Theory and School Culture Theory in the Indonesian Islamic education context while demonstrating how local religious traditions and national identity discourses interact constructively. The research contributes to the growing discourse on religious–nationalist character formation by offering an empirically grounded model of culturally embedded character education that may inform policy and practice in Islamic schooling contexts.
