Abstract

This research aims to improve students' critical thinking skills by applying STEM-Problem Based Learning through lesson study. This research uses a lesson study approach with stages (1) plan, (2) do and (3) see. The research was carried out during three open classes with the subjects of class XI.1 students of SMAN 2 Selong totaling 34 students. The instruments used are student activity observation sheets, learning implementation observation sheets and essay tests in integral materials. Data in the form of student activities and learning outcome tests on integral materials were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The scores of students' critical thinking activities during the open class were 74.93%, 74.8% and 87.87% there was an average increase of 6.47%. Data on students' critical thinking ability scores on integral material in the first open class of 76.47% of the second open class of 88.24% and the third open class of 94.12%, there was average increase of 8.83%. The conclusion is that the application aims to improve students' critical thinking skills by applying STEM-Problem Based Learning through lesson study can increase activity and critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This type of research is descriptive to describe the development of learning videos using Canva in material relations and functions to support junior high school students' conceptual understanding abilities. The method used in this study is a design research type of development study. The research subjects were 28 students. This research was conducted through the preliminary stages and prototyping stages, including: self evaluation, expert review, one-to-one, small group, and field tests. Data were collected using walkthroughs, tests, questionnaires, and interviews. Walkthrough, test, questionnaire, and interview data were analyzed and presented descriptively. The results of the study show that learning videos developed with Canva are said to be valid and practical and have a potential effect to support students' conceptual understanding abilities with an average yield of 74.79% with the lowest achievement on the indicator of using, utilizing and selecting certain procedures or operations as much as 70% and the highest indicator is 81.67% in the item restating a concept.

Abstract

This study aims to further examine learning obstacles: MTs.class VIII students in solving arithmetic sequence and series material problems based on the cognitive level of HOTS (High-Order Thinking Skills) with the aim of analyzing and describing the location of errors experienced by students in completing material problems in the Rows and Arithmetic Series material. In this study, the method used was descriptive qualitative. The subjects in this study were MTs. class VIII students in Cikembang, Bandung Regency for the 2021-2022 academic year. The data collection technique was carried out by providing 5 questions of the description test with the criteria of the HOTS cognitive level. Based on the results of the analysis, it is stated that there are some difficulties for students when solving arithmetic rows and series questions on the indicator of question number 2 is relatively high, namely the indicator Making patterns and nth tribes of an arithmetic series with an error percentage of 85%. Furthermore, question number 4 shows the indicator Solving contextual problems related to the nth term of the arithmetic sequence with an error percentage of 75%.

Abstract

This study aims to look at and describe students' representation abilities in the matter of a system of two-variable linear equations (SPLDV) after the application of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The research method used was descriptive with quantitative and qualitative data analysis according to the indicators of mathematical representation. This research was conducted at SMPN 6 Indralaya Utara in class VIII 1 involving 28 students as subjects. Data collection was carried out by giving tests in the form of description questions and the results of interviews with students. The collected data was subsequently examined using scoring criteria that make reference to indicators of mathematical representation. After that, the outcome of the data analysis was divided into three groups: high, medium, and low. Based on the results of data analysis, it was found that students' mathematical representation abilities in the matter of a two-variable linear equation system after the implementation of the PBL model were in the medium category with an average score of 51.12 and an average score for the symbolic representation indicator that was 75, visual representation 48 .21 and verbal 33.04.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to identify errors experienced by students in answering or solving questions in the set material. This research was conducted using a qualitative descriptive method with the subject of the study, namely 23 class VII students in Bandung for the 2022-2023 academic year. Data collection is carried out through the provision of mathematical problem tests on set materials. The data analysis technique used in this study conducted an assessment of students' answers, determined the wrong answers on the student's answer sheet and calculated the percentage of errors. The results showed that the highest indicator had an error, namely the indicator of solving contextual problems in the set material with a percentage reaching 70.91%. The factors that cause errors in solving set questions are due to students' lack of understanding in defining the set, stating the set by registering its members as a set, stating the relationship between the association and the venn diagram, low students in the ability to solve story problems and lack of accuracy of students when doing questions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' difficulties in solving questions on quadrilateral material based on the stages of geometry skills using a descriptive method. The subjects of this study were 27 students of class VIII SMP Sumur Bandung Cililin. The instruments in this study were interview guidelines and 5 essay test questions. Data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The data analysis uses the formula for the percentage of student answers with the help of Microsoft Excel. From the results of this study it was found that in the visual stage the average student score was 69.00%, in the verbal stage it was 69.00%, in the drawing stage it was 79.00%, in the logic stage it was 46.00%, and in the applied average student score of 50.00%. Based on the results of these test items, it shows that in solving quadrilateral questions there are still difficulties felt by students in terms of geometry skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze students' mistakes when working on material problems on flat sided geometric shapes in terms of mathematical problem solving abilities and self-regulated learning. The method used in this research is descriptive analysis method. The data collection technique was taken by giving questions about the mathematical problem-solving ability of the flat-sided geometric material to students and a non-test instrument in the form of a self-regulated learning questionnaire. This research was conducted on 23 students at SMP Negeri 5 Cipongkor, class IX. The results of the study showed that there were students' errors in working on BRSD material questions based on indicators of mathematical problem solving ability; 1) identify the elements that are known, asked, and the adequacy of the required elements, 2) formulate mathematical problems or develop mathematical models, 3) apply strategies to solve various problems within or outside mathematics, 4) explain or interpret the results according to the initial problems, 5) use mathematics meaningfully.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was conducted to analyze and describe student learning independence in learning mathematics after online learning that students have experienced for approximately two years. This study used a qualitative approach and descriptive method by taking as many as 33 students in class VIII L of SMP Negeri 1 Karawang Barat as subjects as subjects. The instrument used is a non-test in the form of a questionnaire which contains 20 statement items and has 5 indicators. The data that has been collected from the questionnaire is then analyzed and described using the criteria of the percentage of student answers. The results of the study show that some students have learning independence in learning mathematics after online learning by 69.15%. So that it can be said that most students have good independence in learning mathematics after good learning. Even so, it is better for a student to increase independence in learning mathematics to achieve even better learning outcomes.

Abstract

One of the mathematics topics covered in class X SMA is the Three Variable Linear Equation System (SPLTV). Students frequently make mistakes when attempting to solve SPLTV-related problems. This research aims to examine the errors made by class X SMA students when attempting to solve mathematical connection problems in SPLTV content. The type of research is qualitative descriptive. There were 36 class X students of SMAN 1 Batujajar as participant in this study, 11 male and 25 female. This study collected data using a five-question of the SPLTV mathematical connection test. The collected data is then examined, the data processed and presented, and conclusions are drawn from the processed data. As indicated by the discoveries of this review, students' errors in solving mathematical connection problems involving SPLTV material contain a very high criteria for indicators of seeking connections or other procedures in equivalent representations and a high criteria for indicators that make use of connections between mathematical topics and other topics.

Abstract

Students must have the ability to understand mathematics because learning mathematics is not only about memorizing formulas and counting, but also about understanding concepts. The purpose of this study is to determine the mathematical understanding of students after the Covid-19 pandemic with quadratic equations. This type of research is qualitative with a population of 30 students and a sample of 10 class IX students conducted at SMPN 8 Cimahi. The instrument used is a mathematical comprehension test. The data obtained from the test results are processed in three stages, namely first data reduction (analysis of student answers), second presentation, and thirdly drawing researchers' conclusions. The results showed that 10% of students who have mathematical ability belong to the very high and very low categories, 20% belong to the high and low categories, and 40% of students belong to the medium category. This research shows that students' mathematical comprehension skills still need to be developed because students still do not understand the material and are not used to doing mathematical comprehension questions so they still make mistakes when solving problems.
