Abstract

The danger of lead in paint that is coated on the human body, silver can enter through the skin and will interact with proteins, DNA, RNA and oxidative stress. Formation of Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) by lead can cause oxidative stress and is characterized by an increase in the enzymes catalase, malondialdehyde (MDA) and Oxidized glutathione (GSSG). The aim of this study was to analyze blood lead levels against Malondealdehyde (MDA) in silver humans in Semarang City. This study used an observational analytic study with a cross sectional approach to analyze the effect of lead levels on Malondialdehyde levels in silver humans in Semarang City using a t test to see differences in results based on length of work, length of exposure and age on lead levels, and the effect of lead on MDA. The results showed that from 20 human samples, the lowest lead level was 23.9 g/dl and the highest was 61.9 g/dl with an average blood lead level of 37.3 g/dl with an average blood lead level of 37.3 g/dl, and the lowest MDA level was 0.4 mg/L and the highest level is 1.74 mg/L with an average of 1.2 mg/L. Based on the data obtained from the t test, it shows a significant value (P-Value) of 0.610 which means 0.05, this indicates that the decision taken is to reject H1 which means that there is no effect between the results of lead levels on the results of MDA levels.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is a disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis which mostly attacks the lungs. Based on several studies, it is stated that tuberculosis sufferers who take OAT for healing experience side effects in the form of lowering the platelet index due to reactions from drugs that lyse platelets. This research is a descriptive study with a cross sectional design. Research was conducted on 30 respondents who consumed OAT. The results of this study obtained results of more than 50% on one of the platelet indices, namely the PWD value, which was obtained with low results with a total of 19 patients (63.3%), while for other indices such as platelet counts there were 21 patients (70%) , MPV in 28 patients (93%) and PCT in 23 patients (77%) had normal results. The conclusion of this study is that platelet index examinations in TB patients tend to be low in MPV and PDW, while they show high results in PLT and PCT examinations.

Abstract

The quality of air is very important for the environment and human life, however, along with developments in today's increasingly developed and modern era, the quality of the air itself is getting worse and the substances that become air pollutants, one of which is carbon monoxide. Exposure to high amounts of carbon monoxide gas over a continuous exposure period can of course increase carboxyhemoglobin levels in the blood, which will cause health problems. To determine the relationship between carboxyhemoglobin levels in the blood of motor vehicle mechanic workers in the Samarinda city area based on factors such as age, length of work, length of service, and smoking habits. This research used a cross sectional analytical survey design, and sample measurements used the Hindsberg-Lang method which was carried out in May 2023 with a sample size of 17 people and a Spearman rank statistical test was carried out to see whether there was a relationship between variables. 17 motor vehicle mechanics had COHb concentrations that exceeded the normal limit of 3.5%, where the lowest carboxyhemoglobin level was 6.10% and the highest was 9.64%. Correlation data obtained from the p value of age (p=0.000), length of service (p=0.000), time worked (p=0.000), and smoking habits (p=0.004) on COHb levels in the blood of motor vehicle mechanics. The Conclusion: COHb levels in motor vehicle mechanics are above 3.5% and there is a significant relationship between age, length of service, working time and smoking habits on COHb levels in the blood of motor vehicle mechanics.

Abstract

Background: Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection in Tuberculosis (TBC) causes narrowing of the pulmonary blood vessels and triggers pulmonary hypertension which is associated with iron deficiency and anemia. The mineral zinc (Zn) is known to play an important role in destroying the bacteria that cause TBC. In addition, iron (Fe) deficiency in TBC patients can cause relapse and even treatment failure. This study aims to examine the relationship between serum zinc and iron levels and blood pressure in pulmonary TBC patients. Method: A descriptive analytical observational study with a cross sectional design was conducted on 51 TBC patients undergoing treatment at the Simpang IV Sipin Community Health Center, Jambi City. Using a purposive sampling technique, respondents who met the research inclusion and exclusion criteria were examined for zinc and Fe levels. The examination was carried out at the Jambi Province Regional Health Laboratory, the examination result data was then analyzed bivariately using the chi square test. Results: The results of statistical analysis between blood pressure and Zn levels obtained a significant value with P value = 0.877 and a significant value for Fe levels obtained P value = 0.841 ( 0.05). Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between Zn and Fe levels and blood pressure in pulmonary TBC patients. Based on research, it is known that iron deficiency and anemia are not directly related to pulmonary hypertension which can be experienced by TBC patients.

Abstract

Proteinuria is caused by kidney damage. Qualitative examination of urine protein can be carried out using the dip strip method, 6% acetic acid and 20% sulfosalicylic acid. The aim of this research is to determine the accuracy and precision of urine protein examination using the dip strip method, 6% acetic acid and 20% sulfosalicylic acid. The research was experimental with repeated measurements of levels carried out visually and gave positive results of 1, 2, 3 and 4. The research was carried out in January 2022 using a research sample of 20 proteinuria positive patients at RSJD Dr. Amino Gondohutomo. The results of this research are that all methods meet the 12S rules where there is 1 control that is more than ± 2SD (still in the ± 3SD area), categorized as a warning/warning of method malfunction (needs more careful analysis). The best method is dip strip because it has the lowest Coefficient of Variation (KV) value, namely 0.497%. The method can still be used for patient care. The coefficient of variation obtained was dye liquid 0.497%, 6% acetic acid 0.654%, and 20% sulfosalicylic acid 0.630%. The smaller the KV value (%) the more thorough the system/method. The conclusion that can be drawn from this research is that the dip strip is a method that has the best accuracy and precision compared to the 6% acetic acid and 20% sulfosalicylic acid methods because it has the smallest coefficient of variation (KV%) value, namely 0.497% and meets the 12S rules. Researchers recommend always ensuring that the research location has the required samples with adequate volume, urine protein examination can be carried out using the dip strip method, researchers can then carry out urine protein examination regarding the sensitivity and specificity of the three qualitative methods

Abstract

Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a disease that has never previously been found in humans and is a new type of disease. The virus that causes COVID-19 is called Sars-CoV-2. It was found that patients experienced increased mortality due to COVID-19 because they had comorbid diseases. COVID-19 patients who have one comorbid disease are at risk of death up to 6.5 times higher than COVID-19 patients without comorbidities. Pulmonary TB is a comorbidity that can make a person more susceptible to contracting COVID-19 with severe symptoms. Apart from attacking the lungs, COVID-19 also damages the lungs. Damaged lungs prevent the body's organs from getting enough oxygen, which can trigger organ damage that can cause death. The aim of this study was to compare the percentage risk of death in COVID-19 patients who had comorbid TB disease with COVID-19 patients who had comorbid kidney disease and DM in the Pati area, Central Java. This research can be a reference for data regarding the percentage risk of death in COVID-19 patients with comorbidities. This research uses a descriptive, observational research design. The samples in this study were COVID-19 sufferers who had comorbid TB, comorbid kidney disease and comorbid DM. The sample population during the period January to December 2021 was 998. The sample was determined using the Slovin formula with a total of 135 samples with a sampling quota taken. Results Comorbid TB has a percentage risk of death of 40%, comorbid kidney has a percentage risk of death of 33.3%, and comorbid DM has a percentage risk of death of 6.8%. Comorbid TB is a comorbid that has the highest percentage risk of death, so intensive care is important for sufferers.

Abstract

Corynebacterium diphtheriae is the bacteria that causes diphtheria. The virulence factor of C. diphtheriae comes from the bacteria's ability to produce bacterial toxins. Toxin production is regulated by a set of genes called tox/dtx genes and is regulated by the dtxR gene. The aim of this study was to design primers used to evaluate the dtxR gene using bacterial DNA sequences. This research is experimental research with a literature study approach using the In silico Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), NCBI (National Center for Biotechnology Information), Primer3Plus, and Oligo Calculator applications. The sample obtained from genbank NCBI was C. diphtheriae dtxR gene M80337.1. In silico PCR examination was carried out using newly designed primers from Primer3Plus with 50 genomic DNA of Corynebacterium spp. taken from the In silico PCR database. The dtxR primer pair: '5-ACAGTTAGCCAAACCGTTGC-3' and 5'-TGCGTTCAACTTCGTCACTC-3' can produce a single DNA amplicon measuring 226 bp specifically for C. diphtheria types and no amplicon bands were generated from other Corynebacterium genomes. Based on the study results, this pair of specific primers can be used for in vitro PCR testing and can be used to develop rapid detection of diphtheria.
