Abstract

High total cholesterol levels cause various diseases, especially those related to the heart  and blood vessels. Total cholesterol test uses serum as a sample and must be analyzed within one hour after sampling. However, in the field sometimes there are inspection delays. Some studies have proven that serum stored for one week at a temperature of 4-8°C has different results in total cholesterol examination. For this reason, this study aims to determine the validity of total cholesterol examination using the CHOD-PAP method of serum samples stored for one week at a temperature of 4o-8oC. Validation test based on eight parameters, there are precision, accuracy, linearity, reportable range, limit detection, quantitation limit,  recovery, and interference. Only the recovery test was not accepted from eight parameters. Based on the Kruskal Wallis test, the sig value is 0.172 0.05, it can be stated that there is no difference in serum storage time for one week at a temperature of 4-8℃ on total cholesterol levels using CHOD-PAP method.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease that occurs due to hyperglycemia. In Indonesia it self, DM has a relatively high prevalence, this is evidenced because Indonesia is in the category of the top 10 countries in the world. The type of research used is descriptive research, namely identifying bacteria and testing sensitivity on wounds of diabetics with diabetes mellitus by performing cultures that are examined macroscopically and microscopically with the number of respondents obtained by as many as 17 people in 4 weeks. The results of this study obtained the prevalence of the types of bacteria that are (82.35%) gram-negative and (17.65%) gram-positive. The gram negatives included Proteus mirabilis (17.65%), Proteus morgani (5.88%), Citrobacter diversus (23.54%), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (11.76%), Escherichia coli (5.88%), Enterobacter agglomerans (5.88%) and Enterobacter cloacae (11.76%). While the gram-positive include Staphylococcus aureus (17.65%) with antibiotic sensitivity results whose sensitivity is in the yellow zone, which is around 50-75%, namely ciprofloxacin and meropenem antibiotics are in the green zone, which is around 76-100%.

Abstract

One of the body's organs, the kidney serves a vital purpose in the excretory and secretory systems. Excretion is the removal of waste products from the body's metabolism, and secretion is the release of chemicals and hormones that are involved in the metabolism of the body. Kidney failure is a condition brought on by kidney damage and is further broken down into acute and chronic forms. Long-lasting kidney damage carries a higher risk to one's health. Hemodialysis is a type of dialysis that helps the kidneys perform their normal functions by removing waste and toxic substances that build up in the blood. This study is analytical observational with a cross-sectional design and a sample of patients with chronic kidney failure at RSUD (Regional Public Hospital) dr. R. Goeteng Taroenadibrata Purbalingga. Non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling method was the sampling technique used. This study compared the urea levels in patients with chronic kidney failure before and after hemodialysis. According to the results of the study, there is a significant difference between urea levels before and after hemodialysis, which had a p-value of 0.003 (sig 0.05).

Abstract

A crossmatch test between patient and donor’s blood must be carried out before blood transfusion. However, not all crossmatched blood will be transfused to the patient. This indicates inappropriate distribution of blood products, blood wastage, inaccessibility of blood for emergency patients, increased costs, and increased workload for staff. Crossmatch to Transfusion Ratio (C/T Ratio) is used as an indicator to determine the efficiency of blood use and can serve as a guide to anticipate excessive blood demand. This study aims to determine C/T Ratio score of blood components WB and PRC in the Brebes Regency Hospital 2021. This research is a descriptive study with a retrospective approach. Sampling was done using total sampling technique. Data was obtained from the blood requests recapitulation book in Brebes Regency Hospital’s Blood Bank 2021. The result showed there were 47 units WB crossmatched and 34 units (72%) transfused. There were 4589 units PRC crossmatched and 4369 units (95%) transfused. The C/T Ratio score of WB is 1.38. The C/T Ratio score of PRC is 1.05. The overall C/T Ratio score is 1.05.

Abstract

Nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC) is the 4th most common malignancy in Indonesia, after breast, cervical and lung cancer. The risk factors for this cancer are Epstein-Barr virus, gender, race, adult age 30-50 years, family history, drinking alcohol and smoking. The prevalence of NPC in Indonesia is 6.2/100,000, with nearly 13,000 new cases, but this is a small proportion that has been documented. Adham et al (2012) reported that NPC is the most common head and neck cancer (28.4%), with a male-female ratio of 2:4 and is endemic to the island of Java. The existence of knowledge about NPC starting from prevention, early detection, appropriate treatment will be able to help overcome problems caused by nasopharyngeal cancer. Early detection is very important. If NPC is found at an early stage, the cure rate is quite high, reaching 90%. The purpose of this study was to find out whether there were gas station workers in Semarang City who experienced NPC. This study used an analytic survey method with a cross-sectional approach. The results of the study of 20 Semarang City Gas Station officers found that the characteristics based on age were the most in the range 31-50, namely 70%. Characteristics based on gender of the 20 gas station attendants are all male (100%). Characteristics based on length of service are 1 - 10 years (35%), 11 - 20 years (35%) and 21 - 30 years (30%) respectively. Characteristics based on smoking history, 55% of respondents smoked and 45% did not smoke. And the NPC examination results of all respondents (100%) were NPC negative.

Abstract

Hemoglobin or Hb is a protein found in red blood cells. This protein is what makes blood red. In normal levels, hemoglobin has many functions for the body, so normal levels of hemoglobin need to be maintained. In addition to giving color, hemoglobin also functions to help red blood cells get their natural shape, which is round with a flatter center. With this shape, red blood cells can easily move and flow in the blood vessels. Based on the Regulation of the Minister of Health Number 91 of 2015 the normal level of hemoglobin before blood donation is 12.5 - 17.0 gr/dL%. When a person's hemoglobin condition is higher or lower than the normal amount, this can be a sign of a health problem.

Abstract

Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the largest contributor to death in the world. The prevalence of NCDs tends to increase. Hypertension is one of the non-communicable diseases with the largest proportion in Semarang. High cholesterol levels will accumulate in  the arteries, causing the arteries to stiffen, so the heart tries hard to pump blood through these blood vessels, and can cause blood pressure to rise (hypertension). Some risk factors that can increase blood pressure, such as high salt intake, overweight or obesity, alcohol consumption, lack of physical activity, stress and smoking. Lack of physical activity can increase cholesterol levels in the body which is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease (coroner's heart disease dan stroke). Age affects the occurrence of hypertension. With age the risk of developing hypertension is greater. The purpose of the study was to determine the relationship between cholesterol and blood pressure in adults in Bangetayu, Semarang City. This study uses a cross-sectional approach. Research samples are in the community of  Bangetayu Kota Semarang. Research Tools and Materials include lanceolate, alcohol swab, cholesterol strips, digital sphygmomanometers, POCT cholesterol and capillary blood.  Research data obtained from the results of checking cholesterol levels and blood pressure. The results of this study were processed using SPSS 20 software with data analysis using Chi Square (α=5%) and presented descriptively about the relationship of cholesterol levels with blood pressure in adults. The results of statistical analysis show a p-value 0.05 which means that there is no significant relationship between variables and vice versa. The results showed that there was no relationship between blood pressure and cholesterol.
