Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Probing–Prompting learning model on students’ critical thinking skills in history learning. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design was employed. The population consisted of 188 tenth-grade students at a vocational high school in Indonesia. Using purposive sampling, two classes were selected as research samples: one experimental class applying the Probing–Prompting model and one control class applying the Discovery Learning model. Students’ critical thinking skills were measured using a multiple-choice test based on Ennis’s critical thinking indicators. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and independent sample t-tests. The results indicate that the experimental class achieved a higher mean post-test score (69,38) compared to the control class (51,36). The t-test results show a significance value of 0,000 (< 0,05), indicating a statistically significant difference between the two groups. These findings demonstrate that the Probing–Prompting learning model has a significant positive effect on students’ critical thinking skills in history learning. This study contributes to the development of student-centered instructional strategies that promote higher-order thinking skills in history education.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of podcast-based audio-visual learning media on the learning interest of class XI students of SMA Negeri 7 Kota Serang. This type of research is quantitative using quantitative descriptive analysis and correlation analysis. The sample in this study was class XI-5 SMA Negeri 7 Kota Serang, totaling 36 students. The data collection technique used was through questionnaires and observations. The questionnaire given to respondents consisted of 20 questions for the independent variable (X) and 20 questions for the variable (Y). By using the calculation of the questionnaire that had been given to 36 students using product moment analysis. Then by paying attention to the magnitude of Rxy, namely (0.446546) which is between (0.40) and (5.99), it can be said that the level of correlation relationship is moderate. The calculation of the significant test can be seen that t (2.910037) is greater than t table at a significance level of 5%, namely (2.03), so the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and the null value (H0) is rejected. This means there is a significant positive influence between variables X and Y. Based on the research results above, it can be concluded that the use of podcast- based audio-visual learning media has an effect on the interest in learning Indonesian History in class XI of SMA Negeri 7 Kota Serang. Therefore, it can be said that podcast media can be recommended as a learning medium used in history learning because this audio-visual–based podcast is able to present material in an engaging way, both in terms of visuals and the accompanying text background. It is easy to understand because the delivery uses simple language, and it is flexible to be played anywhere and at any time.

Abstract

This study examines the dynamic negotiation between Islamic practice and local Javanese tradition through a case study of the Pangudi Agama Sutji community in Badean Village, Indonesia, arguing that ritual transformation merits investigation because it illuminates how religious legitimacy and social cohesion are maintained amid modernization and generational change. Prior scholarship has addressedsyncretism and religious reform broadly but has paid limited attention to how local institutions actively mediate ritual continuity and change, leaving a gap in understanding institutional strategies that reconcile tradition with orthodoxizing pressures. The central research question asks how the Pangudi Agama Sutji community reconfigures the Birighen tradition to preserve communal functions while aligning with contemporary Islamic norms. The study focuses on Badean Village as the locus for an in-depth qualitative single-case inquiry. Data were obtained through participant observation, semi-structured interviews with religious leaders, elders, and youth, and documentary review, employing triangulation to enhance validity. Data analysis followed thematic and interpretive coding complemented by crosssource validation to trace negotiation processes. Findings reveal an adaptive, not erosive, transformation the community reframes ritual language, leadership roles, and pedagogic practices to retain solidarity and legitimacy. Novelty lies in evidencing institutional mediation as a mechanism of cultural resilience. Recommendations include participatory preservation policies and comparative or longitudinal research on education and social media’s role in ritual change.
