Abstract

The resolution of cases of human rights violations in Indonesia continues to meet a number of deadlocks. The community, the families and victims continue to hold the government accountable for not coming. Kamisan's action came as a response to the proliferation of unresolved cases. This action is dedicated to justice and commemorates the victims of human rights violations in a peaceful and symbolic way that stands still carrying a black umbrella in front of the state palace. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative. Data is obtained through the involvement of various sources of information: interviews, observations, audiovisual materials, documents and various reports. The list of questions is organized using open-ended questions. Informants came from Kamisan Action Participants, families of victims, KontraS, and parties involved in Kamisan Action as the main actors in the kamisan action. The results of the data presented will provide an overview of how this action faces challenges as well as strength in efforts to reject the resolution of non-judicial human rights cases taken by the government. The results showed that Kamisan Action faced various challenges along the way. Legal obstruction, intimidation, political pressure and neglect from those who should be responsible. But on the other hand, this action has been a large public space. Forms of support flowed from the community with the emergence of similar actions in several cities in Indonesia. This action also raises awareness, preserves public memory and mobilizes the public to engage and fight against forgetting past sins that never lead to solutions and apologies.

Abstract

Media consumption in large enough quantities, with a fairly frequent frequency and for a long enough duration can cause addiction in children and teenagers. Various services are available on the internet, this means that children and teenagers can stay on the internet for a long time. Therefore, parents need to have the knowledge and ability to supervise and regulate internet use among children and adolescents. Since the Covid 19 pandemic, the use of gadgets and the internet has become increasingly popular among children in both urban and rural areas. What is the condition of parents' knowledge and abilities regarding digital applications that can be used to monitor and regulate children's internet use is very important to know. This is thought to have an influence on how parents supervise or assist children and teenagers in internet use. This was researched using a quantitative approach. The method used was a survey method, with a population of mothers who had children attending junior high school in Pagelaran District, Pringsewu Regency. Of the 22 villages, 14 villages were selected as research locations, with a total of 212 mothers as respondents, taken purposively and modified snowball sampling. The data was processed and analyzed using percentage and tabulation formulas. The results of the study showed that there were still very few mothers in the villages. who have digital literacy skills and tools that can be used to supervise and regulate children's use of gadgets. Apart from that, literacy in digital tools is still minimal. This is based on the past cultural background of women/mothers in rural areas as digital immigrants. However, women/mothers in rural areas are aware of the negative impact that will occur on their children both physically and mentally if they use gadgets excessively and unwisely. Mothers have the desire to gain knowledge and have skills in using digital tools to monitor and regulate their children's use of gadgets.

Abstract

Pesisir Barat Regency produces approximately 1.2 tonnes of waste every day. This condition makes it imperative for the West Pesisir District Government to take waste management more seriously and of course requires the support of many parties. One of the communities actively involved in waste management is Krui Kecah Ko. This research uses a qualitative method. Data collection was done through interviews, observation and documentation in the research. Then compile the theory and data. Community participation in waste management at Krui tourism site in West Lampung Regency was initiated by a youth-led community. The concern and attention by this young group is an excellent social capital in changing the behaviour and culture of the community and tourists in disposing of waste. The movement is combined with the use of digital media (both news coverage and social media campaigns) so as to encourage Gen Z participation to care and be involved in handling waste in tourist areas.

Abstract

While the trend of cooperation on the globalization era is rising, the cities involvement on the diplomatic activities is increasing. The central government also encourages the paradiplomacy considering the benefits that will return to its state. However, recently, paradiplomacy has also been carried out not only to pursue the economic interests and development aspects but also to fight for security, identity, and sovereignty aspect. Several cities and even autonomous regions have shown the ability to implement and develop their paradiplomacy. This article using qualitative approach to examine sovereign paradiplomacy of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) which was established as an autonomy region within Iraq. The KRG has long demanded for independence and has even been able to expand its paradiplomacy to the Middle East and the world. The KRG's paradiplomacy is successful and strong enough which is can be seen when referendum was be held by KRG in 2017. The KRG has the power of socialization and shared the values as a form of construction that the KRG has carried out for a long time on its paradiplomacy. The KRG has repeatedly stated that the KRG's paradiplomacy is constitutionally valid. Though, KRG always shows a cooperative attitude and expertise in diplomacy. He was even able to show the similarity of the values of the Kurdish identity and the identity of anti-terorism and democracy as the basis for cooperation, even the values that became the basis for the acceptance of Kurdish paradiplomacy by countries in the Middle East.

Abstract

As a country whose social, cultural and political structure is majorly occupied by Muslims, Islamophobia seems unlikely to be carried out by one Islamic group against another. However, in fact, Muslims in Indonesia are divided into various interest groups (madhab) that interact with each other and at the same time contest over space for actualization in the political system. This research provides preliminary evidence that Islamophobia may occur in countries that are predominantly Muslim and can be practiced by fellow Islam-based groups. Islamophobia is conducted through the mass media and constructed through the issues of radicalism, extremism and terrorism that lead to treason or overthrow of power. The motive for this discourse construction is a pro-power strategy that aims to anticipate anti-power movements carried out by the National Movement for Fatwa Defenders- 212 Indonesian Ulama Council. This conclusion is drawn based on critical discourse analysis (Norman Fairclough, 2010) which was carried out in four stages: focus on 'social irregularities', identification of barriers to addressing 'social irregularities', consideration whether social order requires this 'social irregularity' and identifying methods to solve problems. The 'social irregularity' referred to in this study is the construction of Islamophobia in the news coverage of Kompas.com in November 2016 to May 2017. The theoretical framework used in this study was Michel Foucault's Theories of Power.

Abstract

The informal sector is still an option for Lampung people who want to work abroad. The majority of workers from Lampung work as domestic workers and caregivers, it is not surprising why women dominate PMI Lampung. People definitely have various reasons why they choose to work abroad. However, minimal studies on this matter have been carried out, and instead there is more research on the protection of PMI and various problems faced abroad. This research wants to fill the gap in the discussion of PMI motives, especially those from East Lampung Regency. East Lampung was chosen because it is the district with the most PMI exporters in Lampung Province. The fact that women dominate PMI from Lampung is also a factor that needs to be studied, because it will really help related parties in formulating policies related to female PMI. The results of this research show that East Lampung female migrant workers' motives for choosing to work abroad consist of push factors (lack of job opportunities and low wages), pull factors (high salaries and shared language), labor shortages in their country of origin, as well as economic factors, namely to help the family economy.

Abstract

Abstract

Personal data protection and security in information transactions in the digital era are very important. The development of digital technology has given birth to various cybercrimes. Awareness of cyber security is the key to protecting yourself from social engineering related to several key security elements, namely passwords and Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). Teenagers (Gen Z) are the age group with the highest penetration on internet/cyber media, meaning that teenagers are also at greatest risk of experiencing cybercrime. Based on the results of the study, out of 100 respondents selected with the criteria of having email, social media, internet banking, and e-commerce accounts, teenagers as the largest users of internet media in general (70%) are aware of the existence of social engineering as a cybercrime, but most (54%) do not yet have knowledge about 2-factor authentication (2FA) as a way to protect personal data. Knowledge about cybercrime has not been accompanied by a high awareness to carry out good protection procedures against cybercrime, only 38%-42% of teenagers do it. In addition, the digital literacy they have is also not adequate to deal with cybercrime attacks, especially social engineering. Teenagers’ digital literacy in dealing with cybercrime is still inadequate and needs to be improved. Teenagers’ knowledge of 2-factor authentication (2FA) and the use of strong passwords and their awareness of the importance of taking cyber security measures are ways to deal with cybercrime attacks. More intensive training is needed on digital literacy, especially on cyber security in dealing with social engineering cybercrime.

Abstract

Direct regional elections are a form of implementing democracy at the local level, after previously regional elections were held indirectly elected through the Rakyar Regional Representative Council constituencies with this method were still carried out at the beginning of the 1999 reform regulated through Law Number 22 of 1999 concerning Regional Government, but then with the spirit of democratization regional elections were finally held directly where the people were the ones who determine who is eligible to be the regional head and its implementation was first carried out in 2005 based on Law Number 32 of 2004 concerning Regional Government. But in its implementation, it turns out that dynamics emerge, especially efforts made by candidates for regional heads to win contestations using tribal and religious sentiments or known as Identity Politics. The use of identity politics in local elections also occurred in the regional elections of East Lampung and Pringsewu districts to win regional elections in these areas.
