Abstract

Background: Stunting is a chronic nutritional issue in children that remains a primary focus for the government to prevent and reduce its prevalence. Various efforts have been made in collaboration with various parties to improve the nutritional status of children aged 0-2 years, pregnant women, and before pregnancy (adolescent girls). The proper food composition for teenagers should adhere to the 'Fill my plate' principle with a composition of 1/3 staple food, 1/3 vegetables, 1/6 fruit, and the remaining 1/6 containing animal and vegetable protein. Good knowledge about balanced nutrition consumption in adolescent girls is essential to support the prevention of stunting in children in the future.Purpose: To identify the relationship between knowledge about stunting prevention and the consumption of balanced nutritious food in adolescent girls.Method: This research is an observational analytical quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study consisted of 95 female first-semester students at the Faculty of Nursing, Muhammadiyah University, Jakarta. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with criteria being young female respondents aged 16-20 without chronic illnesses. The number of samples was 86. Data analysis used the chi-square statistical test to determine the relationship between knowledge about stunting prevention and the consumption of balanced nutritious food in young women. Results: The average age of respondents was 18 years, the average score for knowledge about stunting prevention was 26.6, the majority of teenagers had a very good knowledge category, with 65 people (75.5%), and the majority of teenagers consumed balanced nutrition, 48 people (55.8%). The results of the statistical test obtained a p-value of 0.26 (>0.05), which means there is no relationship between teenagers' knowledge about stunting and the consumption of balanced nutrition. Conclusion: It is hoped that healthcare professionals, especially nurses, can be involved and provide education and other interventions in preventing stunting by supporting young women to consume balanced nutrition.

Abstract

Background: Hallucinations are common symptoms experienced by patients with schizophrenia. These hallucinations pose difficulties in control, becoming a burden for caregivers providing care. Meanwhile, psychoeducation utilizing modules and videos to treat auditory hallucinations has not been previously implemented. Psychoeducation is beneficial in managing caregiver burden, yet the psychoeducation content hasn't been specific to auditory hallucinations.Purpose: To determine the influence of psychoeducation using modules and videos to help patients develop effective coping strategies, and burden among caregiversMethod: A quantitative study with a pre-experimental design using a pre-test and post-test approach. This research was conducted to measure caregiver burden before and after the intervention. The intervention involved providing psychoeducation using modules and videos for caring for auditory hallucinations, while the control group received psychoeducation using only modules. The study was conducted at the outpatient clinic of Jambi Regional Mental Hospital from July to September 2023.Results: There was a significant difference in caregiver burden (p-value 0.000) in the intervention group before and after treatment. There was a significant difference in caregiver burden (p-value 0.000) in the control group before and after treatment. There was no significant difference in caregiver burden (p-value 0.161) between the intervention and control groups one month after the intervention. Conclusion: Psychoeducation with modules and videos can reduce caregiver burden in schizophrenia patients. Psychiatric nurses should educate caregivers using modules and videos for caring for auditory hallucinations as part of reducing the caregiving burden.Suggestion: Healthcare professionals should also provide psychoeducation using auditory hallucination care modules and videos to caregivers on managing the caregiving burden for individuals with schizophrenia experiencing auditory hallucinations. Caregivers are encouraged to understand the module book and video on auditory hallucination care as a form of continued care at home for individuals with schizophrenia experiencing auditory hallucinations.

Abstract

Background: Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease caused by the dengue virus transmitted through the Aedes aegypti mosquito and is most commonly found in tropical regions. In contemporary society, there is significant emphasis on infectious diseases. DHF is a tropical disease that falls under the third indicator of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). DHF poses a significant global public health problem. Currently, its prevalence is spread across more than 100 countries worldwide. Over three decades, the severity of DHF has shown a significant increase across the Southeast Asian region. In 2021, Indonesia recorded a total of 73,518 DHF cases with 705 fatalities. In 2022, there were 143,266 reported cases resulting in 1,237 deaths. As of March 2023, there have been a total of 17,434 reported cases with 141 fatalities. These DHF case incidence figures indicate a considerable increase.Purpose: To reduce DHF cases in South Tangerang City by creating an innovative digital application which is called “Pakar” from an economic loss perspective.Method: This research adopts a mixed-method approach with exploratory research. The research begins with a qualitative phase to design the application, followed by a quantitative phase to assess the effectiveness of the developed application. The study commences with a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) involving various stakeholders, including the South Tangerang City Health Office, public health centers, and community health workers. Subsequently, the application is developed and tested in selected pilot areas as an initial project. Further testing is conducted using a one-group pre-test post-test design. The experimental procedure includes a pre-test as an initial observation, followed by the intervention, and concludes with a post-test as a final observation. Results: During the pre-test, it was observed that DHF patients had a moderate level of knowledge, with a cumulative percentage of 46%. In contrast, the majority of respondents in the post-test had a high level of knowledge regarding DHF diagnosis, with a percentage of 76%. The paired t-test showed a t-value of -6.306 and the corresponding probability or significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.005).Conclusion: The expert system application, as an innovative approach for DHF mitigation and the experimental assessment of economic impact, is effective as indicated by the pre-post test. Furthermore, it is crucial to consider the economic impact of the costs incurred by DHF patients by placing greater emphasis on improving environmental cleanliness efforts.

Abstract

Background: Atrial Septal Defect (ASD) is a congenital heart defect which can be the cause of comorbidities in the form of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH) and therapy cannot be done simply by correcting the ASD but requires further study and evaluation.Purpose: Describe the treatment given to patients with ASD and PAH and the correlation between the administration of interventional therapy and the patient's probability of PH.Method: This study is a descriptive quantitative using a cross-sectional research design. The sampling technique was total sampling method. The samples were 41 ASD patients with PAH at Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar in 2022. Patients under 18 years of age and those with other congenital heart disease will be excluded. The demographic characteristics assessed were the patient's age and gender. The therapy data included information on medical therapy and intervention therapy. Results: Focus of medical therapy was supportive therapy rather than specific PAH therapy. Percutaneous ASD closure was the most widely-used intervention therapy compared to surgical ASD closure. Based on statistical analysis, the p value > 0.05 is 0.284, so there is no significant correlation between the probability of the patient's pH and the provision of intervention therapy. Conclusion: At Prof Ngoerah General Hospital Denpasar, the majority of ASD patients with complications of pulmonary hypertension were females aged between 21 to 30 years. The medical therapy given is adjusted based on the severity of PH as assessed through echocardiography examination. Majority of patients received supportive therapy compared to specific therapy for PAH. Medical therapy is prioritized for patients who have contraindication criteria for interventional therapy. Percutaneous ASD Closure was found to be the largest percentage in interventional therapy regardless of the severity, except for patients who were indicated to undergo surgical ASD closure. There is no significant relationship between the patient's PH probability level and the choice of intervention therapy.

Abstract

Background: Stunting in toddlers reflects a failure to grow due to nutritional deficiencies. Repeated exposure to fecal pathogens, especially prevalent in areas where open defecation practices exist, can lead to diarrhea, hindered growth, health issues, and irreversible developmental impairments.Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of Agamis Sistematis Interaktif Kreatif/ASIK (Religious, Systematic, Interactive, Creative) education model (focusing on water, sanitation, and hygiene) on clean and healthy living habit (CHLH) among toddlers at risk of stunting in the remote border areas of Enggano Island, Bengkulu Province in 2023.Method: The researcher employed a non-equivalent control group design, also known as a pre-test post-test control group design, for the experimental and control groups. This research involved a sample of 60 mothers having children less than 2 years of age, comprising 30 in the intervention group and 30 in the control group. Data collection utilized a questionnaire. Univariate and bivariate data analysis was conducted using the paired t-test statistical analysis. The results of this study revealed a difference in the mean values between the experimental and control groups concerning WAZ (weight-for-age z-scores), with values in the experimental group pre=72.7000, post=75.2667, and the control group pre=76.8167, post=78.4167.Results: The research findings indicated a difference in CHLH between the treatment and control groups (ρ=0.000, ρ<0.05). The ASIK education model on CHLH among toddlers at risk of stunting is effectively applicable in the remote border areas of Enggano Island, Bengkulu Province in 2023.Conclusion: Government support in the form of budget allocation is crucial for the sustainability of continuous education aimed at stunting prevention in village communities.
